OS X :: Airport Won't Turn On After Brother Printer Driver Installation?
Sep 26, 2009
After I installed Snow Leopard everything has been working fine but I installed the latest Brother fax/printer driver and supporting apps yesterday Airport stopped working. So I restarted the computer but still won't turn on, no matter what I do. I'm not 100% sure if they are related but it's hard to believe they are not. I can remove all the Brother related stuff but I still need the printer driver.
Has anybody had this problem and can anybody suggest a solution?
I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.
When I first set up this new macbook pro the printer installed perfectly and worked great. Today I hit 'print' and nothing. No printer installed. I'm not a computer guru so I don't know what to do when set up asks for 'machine' ip addresses. What machine...printer or laptop?? Right now I'm very frustrated because it worked great and now, poof, it doesn't. I tried using the install dvd to reinstall the printer after clicking customize it still looked like it wanted to reinstall the whole operating system. Wasn't clear to me at all so I ended that before really screwing things up.
Here's how I'm set up: 13" MacBookPro unibody aluminum, SnowLeopard OSX6, Airport Extreme wireless router, Brother MFC490CW Wireless printer with my wife's intel iMac also connected to the printer via lan cable. I would seriously appreciate some suggestions that I can understand to get this what should be a simple configuration to work and stay put. I suspect it's a simple process but at this point I'm clueless.
I have a Mac mini (mid-2010), Brother MFC-9840CDW multi-function device (built-in wireless), Windows 7 (64-bit) running on Boot Camp, Windows 7 built-in firewall turned off, Westell router
Attempts:
Brother website, "Wireless Setup Wizard for Windows," dated 2007. I appropriately responded to the prompts, only to have the program end without making any noticeable changes.
Brother website, "Full Driver & Software Package." It could did not find my printer to install. It did see my neighbor's printer.
Called Brother. Factory reset of the printer, printer WAN setup WEP with password, printer setting WAN enabled. When wireless failed, we tried to connect the printer via ethernet cable to the router directly. Also pinged the IP address of the printer and input the IP address in the Brother install program instead of having Windows find it on its own.
Called Apple. The tech did not have a clue. Said she would pass me to a lead/supervisor, but no one ever picked up.
Windows could only see the printer if I connected the USB cable directly from the printer to the Mac mini. But I do not want to run it that way. That's why I got the CDW model ("W" for "wireless"). It worked wirelessly under XP on my old PC that the Mac replaced.
I have a Brother HL-2270 DW printer setup on my network. I see it as an option to add, but when I select it, it says that the software is available through apple. So it makes me select "install and continue" or "cancel". If i select continue, it works on it and then says it is not able to find the software. So i manually went on to the brother website and downloaded the driver. WHen I go back to add the printer it still wants to go through the apple software databse, and as a result I cannot load the printer.
My grandfather purchased a Brother MFC-J6510DW all in one printer several weeks ago and since day one we cannot get the thing installed and recognised on his mac.He running an Imac with OS X 10.7. Originally the computer recognised the printer but when we tried to print nothing would happen. We opened up the printer que and noticed that the job had a error but the system didnt tell me what error.I have visited the Brother website and followed the advice to uninstall all the printer drivers and associated docs and then reinstalled the drivers..... Now my grandfathers machine will not recognise my printer at all and when we try to manually search for the drivers (that we have installed) the mac does not load any for this specific printer. Is there anyone out there who can shine a light on our problem)?
I've just got a new Brother HL-210w wireless printer, but the wireless setup has got me completely baffled. Has anybody set one of these up wirelessly? I'm following the directions in the book and using the CD, but I cannot get this printer to work.
So I'm deciding between getting an HP P1006 or Brother 2140. My concern with these printers is their durability. I have had a Brother HL-2040 for 1.5 yrs but it was an awful experience, I had problems with paper loading. But, several websites say that the Brother 2170W is great. So, I am tempted to buy the 2140 or 2170W but I am not sure if it will be durable. I want to know which one do you guys think is more durable for use with MacOSX Leopard: HP or Brother?
I'm trying decide between a Canon or Brother color laser multifunction printer. Quite honestly we don't do a lot of color printing, but I'm so tired of clogged inkjets (can you say Epson) that I'm trying to stay clear of them. A multifunction inkjet would seem appropriate for our situation, but I don't want to have clean printheads once a month. Even if we do get a mutlfunctional laser I still need a a small photoprinter for quick photos prints. My other option is a multifunctional inkjet and then a B&W laser printer. I'm down to Canon and Brother based on the fact both seem to work well with Macs and don't have the bloated software that comes with HP. I can't find any reviews on the Canon lasers since they are relatively new. The Brother machines seem to get good reviews, but quite a few complain about the color prints.
I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.
I've had to perform a complete clean re installation on my main HD to get my G5 Cypher dual core 2.63 running again with leopard. Somehow when I screwed the main HD it locked me out of my other internal HD and every Firewire drive connected to the computer. Those drives will not show up on the desktop. Is there a back door way for me to unlock them. In Tech Tool Pro, they show up as locked. I tried repairing the permissions with TTP, but it failed. My gut is telling me I might have to buy some data recovery software to get my files off those drives and then reformat them.
I've tried to install the USB Midi driver several times and all I get is a "Install Failed!" (Korg m50)I attempted to install the driver that came with the keyboard (CD) and the one downloaded from Korg.com to no avail. FYI, I have a Macbook 2.4 Ghz, Intel, 2GB Ram running OS X v 10.5.7
A Brother printer update has just appeared in my Software Update, to my surprise.
I actually thought Apple had stopped offering Software Update to third parties, as the only other one I can think of is the Stuffit update that appeared several years ago on fresh installs of OS X (not sure if it still does).
3 days back bought a MacBookPro 2.66ghz i7, 8gb ram, 128SSD. It came with Snow leapord 10.6.3.
I installed Bootcamp > Windows XP 32bit> inserted OS dvd to install Bootcamp drivers Version 3.1 (Build 2232). Now the problem starts.
While installing the drivers, the installer stops at "Installing Audio drivers" and didn't proceed. So, i copied the Bootcamp drivers to local hdd and tried installing again. This time the installer stops at "Installing Apple Keyboard". I tried three times.
I have just purchased a Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Leopard) and I am trying to install this driver link (Scroll to the bottom). When I do I get about half way and it stops and starts at the beginning of the installation. I've noticed that it stops at info.plist. I have been able to install this driver on a Mac OS X 10.4.11 and it works great. The tablet seems to be recognized by Mac OS X 10.5.6 and I can used all the functionality of the tablet that Mac lets you. Such as write and so on and so fourth. The program Art Rage 2.5 works perfectly fine without the drivers but programs like Photoshop need this driver to detect pen pressure. I have contacted Adesso numerous times and have tried to call several times without any response. I'm hoping that someone may have the solution for me or perhaps could help me figure a solution.
Where can I get the printer driver for the samsung ml-1710 printer?! It doesn't seem to be on the samsung page. Also... will it work on a new intel mac? If not, what are my options here?
Just one small hiccup with my lovely new machine - my samsung ML-1510 mono laser printer has no intel mac driver available and I can't print, i've searched all-over but to no avail.
The instructions for uninstalling the Hewlett Packard CP1518ni driver (CP1510 series) speak of an uninstaller in my applications folder (Mac OS 10.5), but there isn't any. I have installed the driver twice and in neither case was an uninstaller installed per the log. How do I completely uninstall the driver (short of looking at the log and manually removing all the bits)?
I recently accidently deleted an old printer, Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX Ink Jet Printer, in Mac OS X 10.5.8 on an old MacBook Pro (2008; 15"). I cannot figure out how to readd it manually without having the physical printer connected through its USB cable. Do I really need to have it connected to do this? I rarely use it and do not have access to it at the moment.
Info: MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.4 Ghz; A1260 model; 15" size.
In the office where I work with my Mac there's a Canon copier/scanner model iR2318. Months ago I downloaded and installed the Lion compatible drivers required that worked fine. Yesterday (with no reason, no changes, nothing at all: just working) the printer started to refuse to print as it asked for a different paper format: A4 or Letter. Despite many attempts to specifically send print jobs in A4, which is the paper format loaded in the tray, the printer continued to refuse all prints.Today I ended up removing the printer from the list, as it became unnecessary, and I also liked to uninstall the printer driver as well, since Canon released a newer version.Currently, when trying to reinstall the printer, 2 drivers are displayed: UK and US. This lets me assume that those 2 drivers are still installed in my system: I wanted to remove both of them and start from scratch by reinstall the driver and he printer as the system was new. How can I remove the driver, so that Lion won't recognize it and that I could make a clean install of the previous working printer?
Just out of the blue, I can't print using my epson 600, a multi use printer that I have set up on my network.
The strange thing is my scaning driver is there and working, but my wireless printer is not there. I can see my Epson Printer, but its not the wireless driver, its the older driver for using the cable.
My Intel based Mac Desktop ceased communicating with my wireless printer. All hardware is plugged in, on and hooked up with router and modem correctly. I have the latest version of OS X Lion 10.7.4. I uninstalled the Lexmark printer driver and re downloaded the driver under Apple downloads. I used the wizard to successfully initialize it. When I look under system preferences/hardware/print & scan it says no printers available. What else do I need to do to add the printer?
That's the message I got when adding a new printer driver. The reference was system/library/extension/cnqe202-classicnotseize.kext. Or close to that. I think I got that message also when upgrading to 10.6.1. As I recall there was also a note about updating this extension but no info on how to do it. Searching for .kext brought up a long list from last August having to do with crash reports with skype, real player, fire fox and a couple more; but nothing permanent and everything is working fine. Anyone have any thoughts about this? I'm using an iMac, 20".
I need to install the Canon MP520 printer to my MBP. The printer is connected to another a PC running windows and is shared. I installed the OSX driver provided on the Canon page, I can see the printer in the network printers but when I am asked to choose the driver I can't see the correct model listed. On the other hand, if I simply connect the same printer via USB, to my MBP it is recognized directly. When I'm asked to provide the driver while adding the printer via the network, there is also the option to browse to the driver location. So my question is, where are the can I find the right driver on the OS?
