Mac mini 2011 doesn't want to wake up by clicking on the magic mouse. Sometimes I need to click for over 30 secs before it wakes up.
In Mavericks, the wake up process was instantaneous.

I'm not sure how it got turned on in the first place, but the voice over feature on my iMac is driving me crazy! It says something everytime I click something on my computer Here are the things I've tried:
1. ReBooting (hoping that it will reset itself somehow).
2. Went through the Voice Over Utility and tried to turn it off, but couldn't figure out how.
3. Someone told me to trash the Voice Over Utility so I did that, but it didn't fix it...
I'm running Mac OSX Tiger on a white intel iMac. Is there any way to turn off the voice over utility?
I want to calibrate my battery once it's fully charged, so then I can discharge it. But whenever I do this, my computer shuts off and "saves the session" with a couple percentage of battery life left, so it NEVER fully drains the battery. Is it possible to turn the saving feature off?

I have always used Firefox, but I am finally getting used to Safari. There are a lot if cool features that Firefox doesn't have. In Firefox, I could start typing my usernames and it would automatically fill it in. How do I get Safari to do this? I don't want Safari to remember my passwords, just the usernames so I don't have to type them each time I log in.

Is there a way to disable the pinch open and close feature on a MBP trackpad? I swear, its going to put me in therapy. Every time I need to scroll through massive spreadsheets for work, if my fingers separate by even a hair, the trackpad reads it as a pinch, then the document suddenly balloons to massive proportion or shrinks to infinitesimally tiny print. Seems there ought to be a simple way to turn the thing off, but for the life of me, I cant find it.

I am running Mac Mini as a home server (turns out to be not a great idea, btw), and even though I set the preference to never sleep or shut down, it does go to sleep when there is no activity for long time. Since I am using it as home server, it should stay awake all the time or at least wake up from sleep when there is incoming ping from other computer, but it just goes to sleep.
View 5 Replies View Relatedthis is my first post in here, I hope I've come to the right place I'm in the market for THE media center and though the Mini is very expensive I think it has a lot of potential. Well, this is what I need is there any way on the earth that I can have a media player application - namely Plex, Boxee, XBMC - to play 2 audio tracks simultaneously when watching a film? Thing is, I really like learning languages but my girlfriend doesn't, and man this seems to be the only way that I can imagine to keep my relationship while enjoying the original language films were shot. May I ask what the major drawbacks of this device are?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the 5th macbook pro I have gone through... ALL of the ones at best buy have had some sort of scratch out of the box. However, the one on this one is barley noticeable so I have been dealing with it. However, I just noticed that the very bottom of the trackpad, maybe as much as a quarter of an inch, is unresponsive when you start in that area, but seems to work if you start anywhere else in the trackpad and then go into that area. Anyone else have that issue? Anybody know a remedy? Apple seriously needs to up their quality, every MBP I have had so far has had something wrong with it and I have had this one for two weeks so there is no way they would buy that it came like that.
View 24 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to switch off the mains when the Mac Mini is in sleep mode?
I've only had MBPs in the recent years and appreciate their low impact on my electricity bill very much - letting them sleep unplugged does make a difference. Now I'm contemplating a Mac Mini and while I know its power consumption is as low as with the notebooks (if not lower without display), I'm wondering if the Mini needs the current in sleep mode. I assume it does, but I'd rather know than guess.
Thanks!

i'm typing this with a look of scared-********ness on my face...Ok, so i had my MBP (i think it's the 4,1 model, 2.6 core2duo with 4gb ram BTO) connected to my tv and a couple of external hard drives, set it to sleep last night with the lid open, hit the spacebar this morning to wake it and nothing happened
I disconnected frok everything and tried the following to no avail:-Holding the power button turns it off but hitting it again brings it back to the same state, sounds like it's working but keys don't respond and monitor's off.-I tried resetting PRAM but keys don't respond-Took off battery, held power button down for 20 seconds-Took out the two RAM chips and swapped them around-Tried reconnecting the TV to see if it would re-detect monitors-Closed the lid to see if it'll re-sleep and wake up properly but what it does is that the light on the front lights up but doesn't start blinkingAt this point i can't think of anything else to do so please help me out!I'm taking out both battery and RAM chips and leaving it on the bed in hopes it will lose all charge and memory of this ****-up.Btw, there's no warranty and no applecare on it, if push comes to shove i will take it to an applestore but one: i can't really afford that right now and two: i don't really trust them here in greece
I keep hitting Suspend Activity... to save my old HD... then 5 minutes later I suddenly remember something I needed to do and fire it up again.... I manage to do this about 20 times a day and was wondering if it might be better for the HD to leave it to go to sleep all on its own. Does the physical effort of re starting each time put more strain on my HD than leaving it on. I have an "OLD" Pismo G3 and have night mares about it crashing for good, 'cos i cant afford a new Mac for the moment.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy early 2011 17inch macbook pro wont turn on after going to sleep. So i switched it off and then turned it back on again. the laptop wont boot. No chime, a blank screen and the sleep light stays on. I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. No luck. So i left it switched off for a couple of hours. Then i tried switching it back on, It BOOTED!
I got my screen replaced last year Under APPLE care. Ever Since that i have been having problems with my laptop. My speakers started jarring and got it replaced, My battery had to be replaced. i did a hardware test and it said i dont have any problem.
So this past week when my mini hasn't stayed in sleep mode, it shuts itself down about a minute later after being in sleep mode. I haven't changed any of my settings in a year and a half, normally it would stay in sleep mode until i come back to it and logged on again. When it does shut down i just cannot power back on i have to unplug the adapter then replug it in for it to start up again. I've searched google and on here for possible ideas. I wouldn't think it to be overheating since I'm not running any applications when i put it in sleep. It might be the power supply since i have to do that process to get it to work again. Let me know what could be causing this or ways to troubleshoot this problem.

I have recently tried out the new Yosemite feature "dark menu bar and Dock" using a side add-on called Lights Out and thought it was cool, but was not of any better use so I removed the add-on and went back into "general settings" and unchecked the "dark menu bar and Dock" box. The problem lies in that it won't stay unchecked leaving my system in the dark. So my search the light has begun. I have only tried restarting my system as that is the only thing that I can think of to resolve the issue, but it did not work since the "use dark menu bar and Dock" is still checked and won't stay uncheck after closing the "system preferences" window.
to why it is staying checked and how to force it to go back to light menu bar mode? It's only an inconvenience, but one that should not be.
