I'm having a problem with Clamxav. It always crashes (first saying there's an error and then immediately shutting down) whem I'm trying to scan.

Did a ClamXav scan just now and came up with three detections. All three were classified as ISHING.HEURISTICS.EMAIL.SPOOFEDDOMAIN". I deleted the files immediately.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've been using ClamXav for a couple years, but after I updated my software to Mac OSX 10.6.8, it doesnt run properly and quits everytime I try to start a scan. I've uninstalled it & reinstalled it a few times & added a quarentine folder, but am not sure what to do at this point.
I've been looking around at different support forums to try to identify a solution, but am not having much luck-

There was a new treat for malware out there called alurdon dns changer and supposily cause internet blackout on Monday. Any one aware of this is it a PC treat, should I be concerned? How do I scan my computer for any malware that I could have and not be aware of?

I can't scan to my computer with my HP Photosmart Plus B2010a, I get a "Failed to open a session on the device" message everytime. I'm using the most current driver for OS X Lion 10.7 off the HP website.

Installed virus scan in an unnecessary attempt to resolve some issues a year ago. I uninstalled it. A year later the Mac continues to have issues with the "VirusScan Reporter" failing to check in, exiting with exit code, etc. These issues seem to appear on the command log right around the time I get the spinning rainbow and it locks up. (I have ~20% free disk space, etc.)

Epson Scan.app version 3.8.0 will not open in OSX 10.7.4. I use the scanner Epson Perfection 1640SU. The scanner works with the Image Capture application, but refuses to open the Epson Scan Application. I have tried everything I know to try with no luck.

When I scan a document I have problems locating the file on the computer. Once I located the file I attempted to save in pages 09 but it didn't work. And I can't seem to even copy a scanned document to paste into pages. As an example I would like to scan all of my loose recipes and assemble in pages. But can't figure out how to do this.

how can you know if the files you receive do not have virus on them e.g on Skype?I do a lot of research when I'm online which exposes me to all sorts of sites so I'm always scared that my laptop might be infected! I was going to then download ClamXav just to scan the files I received, but a lot of people have said that the people who created MacKeeper are behind ClamXav which is really worrying! I have to say it is the worst virus protection program. I use a thumbdrive in my mac often and always scan it after using it on a PC I plugged it into my computer running windows 7 and kaspersky, it detected a trojan immediately. Is there a good virus protector for Mac, not such as for it but so i can get rid of sharing the PC viruses around?

I deleted the startup commands from the LaunchDaemon folder, restarted. Went back, FOLDER IS GONE!Downloaded Clamxav. It crashed. I deleted it. It had 400 plus items to remove! Console now says timers set, loops closed, target class NSA applications?  Dropbox is being affected, HERE's WHAT'S COMING UP. Â

Tried to scan Mac this morning: got message "unknown errors received from scanners". So tried McAfee's Virtual Technician which reported '1.0.0.2 - platform not supported' against Internet Security, Application Protection, Desktop Firewall and Antimalware.

Also, I think I downloaded an old version of Messenger for Mac.
It probably have no sort of malware or viruses but assuming it may have, does the "sandboxing" technique by Apple prevent any malware from interfering with my mac. And does deleting tha old version clear any malware associated with it as well?Â

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have just connected my Canon Pixma MG5270 to my iMac running OSX 10.7.3 via WiFi. Printing works great, and scanning from the desktop "Canon MP Navigator EX - MG 5200 series" V 4.0.3 application works like a dream. When I try to scan via the operations panel on the printer/scanner the following comes up - Set the PC to start scanning". This worked fine when connected directly via USB cable. I have searched the web and believe I have the correct settings, particuliarly in MP Navigator:Â
1. Main Menu -> One-click -> Start scanning by clicking the button (checked)
2. Main Menu -> One-click -> Preferences -> General -> Compress scanned images when transferring (checked) -> Change -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG 5200 series_xxxxxxxxx) -> Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG5200 series_xxxxxxx)Â I have restarted the iMac and printer and always with the same result.Â

My iMac randomly freezes and crashes on me. Most of the freezes occur when scrolling with my trackpad on websites with Google Chrome. I get the pinwheel and have to use the power button to turn off and on the iMac. I haven't noticed any particular connection to Flash websites or video related sites. It just seems kind of random. I've also been careful to have absolutely nothing else running and it still does not prevent it. Â
Also, from time to time the iMac will crash and go to a solid color screen. Either Blue-Gray, White or Black. It seems to be random colors. When this happens, I have to use the power button to cycle it off and back on again.Â
