I can't scan to my computer with my HP Photosmart Plus B2010a, I get a "Failed to open a session on the device" message everytime. I'm using the most current driver for OS X Lion 10.7 off the HP website.

I am totally confused about my all-in-one. Before Lion I used it successfully for printing and scanning, both using USB and Ethernet connection. I can't recollect using it wirelessly. I'd like to use it wirelessly now, but I have problems. The printer works very unreliably, getting connection error from time to time, and the scanner does not work at all. When I open Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector, I see my scanner but I can't select it. The radio buttons are disabled and 'Do Not Use' is selected. I did completely reinstall the printer, removed all the drivers and Canon software, with no luck. All I need is for it to wirelessly print reliably and scan using Image Capture.

I've got a dual-ethernet Airport Extreme base station. I've connected my AIO HP c309a to it by every possible means; ethernet, wireless and USB.
No matter what I do, I can NOT scan from my computer or to my computer, wirelessly.
I used to get an error to the effect of, "failed to create a session" when trying to scan. Now, I'm unable to locate the scanner in Preview at all!
It prints just fine. I've installed the latest Snow Leopard printer drivers, and they're working fine and are the correct drivers. Airport Extreme's firmware is up to date.
I have installed printer drivers for my Brother printer and I can print ok but for some reason the printer will not connect to my iMac to scan. Never had this problem with my PC.

I have an iMac (early 2008) and I would like to use my Sony Bravia TV (46EX520) as a monitor. Pretty easy so far but the trick is that I would like to do it wirelessly. I have the Sony wireless / LAN adaptor (UWA-BR100) which enable me to connect my TV to my modem/router (D-Link DSL-2730B). Â However, I do not want to stream movies, music or pictures from my computer to my TV. I want to use the TV as computer screen. I have not found a way to wirelessly link my iMac to the Sony Bravia magic trick?

I've been told it's possible to sync. an application on my iMac to my iPad.  I use the calendar specifically for the event reminders that I set up on the desktop Mac when I'm at home, but it would be good if I could access this information on my iPad when I'm away from home.Â

Installed virus scan in an unnecessary attempt to resolve some issues a year ago. I uninstalled it. A year later the Mac continues to have issues with the "VirusScan Reporter" failing to check in, exiting with exit code, etc. These issues seem to appear on the command log right around the time I get the spinning rainbow and it locks up. (I have ~20% free disk space, etc.)

I have been reading about the adobe malware virus, and my computer actually found one and took care of it. But I was wondering if there is a way that I could scan for it myself.

Yesterday I purchased my first ever iMac (OS X 10.9.4 - Mavericks I believe).Â
I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart C7280 printer to work wirelessly but can't seem to work out how to do it.Â
When I connect via a USB the printer is recognised in Printers & Scanners, when I remove the USB the printer disappears.Â
My Mac and printer are both connected to the same wireless network (which we get through Virgin Media) - although my printer displays "no link" for IP address, don't know if this is relevant.Â
I have tried resetting print system, I have downloaded all Apple system updates, I have downloaded the latest driver I could find from the HP site (although this might have been unnecessary).Â
One factor that may be significant is that when I view the printer details (when connected via USB) I see the Mac's name, the printer model and the status but I don't see any reference to a Driver, which from what I've read, I feel I should be seeing.
I've also read reference to clicking "use" in a drop-down menu but from the details I see in the printer pane/dialogue box? I cannot see "use" anywhere or any other drop-down menus.Â
by the way, the printer always worked perfectly well wirelessly when connected to a Windows laptop on the same network,Â

When I scan a document I have problems locating the file on the computer. Once I located the file I attempted to save in pages 09 but it didn't work. And I can't seem to even copy a scanned document to paste into pages. As an example I would like to scan all of my loose recipes and assemble in pages. But can't figure out how to do this.

I have just connected my Canon Pixma MG5270 to my iMac running OSX 10.7.3 via WiFi. Printing works great, and scanning from the desktop "Canon MP Navigator EX - MG 5200 series" V 4.0.3 application works like a dream. When I try to scan via the operations panel on the printer/scanner the following comes up - Set the PC to start scanning". This worked fine when connected directly via USB cable. I have searched the web and believe I have the correct settings, particuliarly in MP Navigator:Â
1. Main Menu -> One-click -> Start scanning by clicking the button (checked)
2. Main Menu -> One-click -> Preferences -> General -> Compress scanned images when transferring (checked) -> Change -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG 5200 series_xxxxxxxxx) -> Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG5200 series_xxxxxxx)Â I have restarted the iMac and printer and always with the same result.Â
