May 6, 2012Installed virus scan in an unnecessary attempt to resolve some issues a year ago. I uninstalled it. A year later the Mac continues to have issues with the "VirusScan Reporter" failing to check in, exiting with exit code, etc. These issues seem to appear on the command log right around the time I get the spinning rainbow and it locks up. (I have ~20% free disk space, etc.)

Oct 27, 2009I was on stumble upon site for the past few days.(everything has been clean in my stumbles) today, I was reading an article and all of the sudden my mac went int virus scan mode. However, it was the virus scan mode for a PC, complete with all the PC icons and even box. I clicked out of it, because I didn't want to chance opening anything bad. I did some research, and everything I found said there shouldn't be any viruses for macs. I just want to be extra safe, is there anything I can do to check for viruses?

Jun 27, 2010I know I had one at some point since my world of warcraft account was hacked using one. I've since quit the game and removed all WOW content from my computer but I have no idea where the keylogger originated.. I can assume it was within the wow folder in some addon i carelessly added but I cannot be entirely sure so I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of the best way to ensure that other passwords of mine will not be compromised.

Jun 30, 2014Since I upgraded to Maverick the Scan Print in System Preferences freezes when I try to open it. I repaced my old Canon printer, because there was not a driver update available for it. My new printer is a HP Photosmart 7520. I downloaded the newest driver and software for it , but when I try to open HP Utilities it also freezes.

Sep 1, 2014whenever I search something in Google, the results will come up, and then about 2 seconds later, other random text and links will appear. The most annoying part though is that whenever I click on ANYTHING, whether it be a link or a field to fill in, it takes me to various "mac cleaner" websites. I haven't downloaded any of those sites, yet it's started happening in the last day and appears to be getting worse. There are also random ads appearing on every website I go to, that never appeared before. For example, at the google home page, there are now random ads all over the bottom of it. Â
I have tried to manage my cookies and pop ups, I've deleted chrome and reinstalled it again, I have restarted my computer, nothing seems to be working! I've tried all three of my web browsers - safari, chrome and firefox, and they all do the same thing.

Issue is Safari is allowing pop ups when searching in google and barnes and noble. I was able to manually delete any files affecting firefox, which appears to be no longer infected.
