Epson Scan.app version 3.8.0 will not open in OSX 10.7.4. I use the scanner Epson Perfection 1640SU. The scanner works with the Image Capture application, but refuses to open the Epson Scan Application. I have tried everything I know to try with no luck.

Mac shows a message that says "it cannot open de applications installer because the application PowerPC is not compatible anymore" I have tried to search new drivers on Epson website but they still have the old ones.Is there any way I can scan documents again or I have to change printer. The printer works fine to print documents from any Mac application. It is just the scanner that does not open.

Finally took the plunge and switched from PC to the 24" IMac and couldn't be happier except. I bought the Samsung SCX-4500 laser printer/scanner (you know the pretty shiny black one) and when i click the scan to pc button, it doesn't scan anything. I know its not the printer because I had it hooked up to my PC and it scanned no problem. So it must be something with the IMac. I have installed the drivers for scanning too.

On the Epson support page, it lists the newest driver from 1999 and says that it will work on Macintosh system 7.5 to 8.6. (here is a link http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...s&platform=All). Any chance of this working on Tiger? I don't see myself buying a new scanner because I use it just a few times per year.

Installed virus scan in an unnecessary attempt to resolve some issues a year ago. I uninstalled it. A year later the Mac continues to have issues with the "VirusScan Reporter" failing to check in, exiting with exit code, etc. These issues seem to appear on the command log right around the time I get the spinning rainbow and it locks up. (I have ~20% free disk space, etc.)
