I've upgraded to iTunes 10.1 and every time I open it I get the following message. I've tried accepting multiple times and still no luck. I've removed the rule from the firewall settings, rebooted and opened iTunes again.

I see the firewall has 3 different settings:
Allow all incoming connections.
Allow only essential services.
Set access for specific services and applications.
Which setting would be most secure but still functional with Transmission?
My itunes sharing isn't working so it says to open up a port. I was looking at the directions apple gives for that and it says:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Sharing.
Click the Firewall tab.
Check the iTunes Music Sharing option.
When i got to the sharing button there is not firewall tab. my computer is fully updated..where is it?
I am a Mac veteran and should know better but I went brain dead and rebooted system after an update while the repair permissions function was running in the background. Now my IMac will reboot and then start to load once I login but it hangs on the startup screen only showing my mouse arrow and the standard space startup background. It won't get to my desktop. Am I going to have to reinstall the system? I have everything backed up on Time Machine but I can't access it from this position. I have a project I have to finish tonight and now I'm really screwed if I can't get in it.

I am setting up a studio of 40 new Macs and can't find anything relating to setting up the Leopard firewall. All users will have Standard (mobile) accounts on Active Directory domains, and will be using the Adobe CS4/VMFusion with XP/Office 2007. If I have the firewall on 'Set access for specific services and applications' will it block the applications and prompt for an admin password?

The system firewall forgets the settings that allow connetction for iTunes, World of Warcraft Launcher, Blizzard Downloader, DropBox app. I have to mention that settings are set for this apps in system preferences / firewall.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use AirPort Express to send iTunes to my stereo. I get my internet connection from a wireless modem (Telus is my ISP). I can establish a new network between my MacBook and my AirPort Express which will work (iTunes comes out of my stereo), but then I cannot access my wireless network and get the internet (my Mac will only allow one network connection at a time); and I can connect an ethernet cable from my the WAN port on my wireless modem to my AirPort Express, which will also work. But I cannot get my AirPort Express to join my existing wireless network. Telus tells me this won't work because they won't allow another network to join their network. I'm pretty sure that I was able to do this before and turn my firewall on - I get asked sometimes if I can allow an app to receive incoming connections.

Having your Mac cooler than normal for the price of some lower fans is quite worth it, but I'm worried that if I am using a lot of high CPU apps that the fans won't automatically go up, because right now i'm compressing some 7zip archives of old data and the CPU is around 104 F, 2150 RPM fan still, it didn't change one bit from CPU at 90 F idle and 2150 RPM idle

Every time I open up iTunes that stupid Firewall box asks if I want to allow/deny incoming connections.
Even if I allow, and verify it's in the list as allow, it asks everytime.

I live and work in Mainland China. There are a lot of sites I'd like to visit that I'm unable to do so because they're blocked. I'm a bit paranoid about internet security, especially here. I always connect behind a strict firewall on my wifi router (D-Link DIR-655) with SPI and NAT in addition I have the firewall on Snow Leopard set the strictest---to block all incoming connections. What I'm concerned about, is the VPN software of Witopia bypassing that firewall in my router. Will this happen? Does anyone know about the fine details of Witopia's VPN software and what it's doing, how it's connecting, etc?

Since MobileMe has been axed, mail rule syncing does not work anymore. Is there an alternative to get mail rules to sync with iCloud or other tools? It is stupid to have different clients using the same (IMAP) account(s) but different rule sets.

A rule I use to try to remove a set of emails from a yahoo group into their own mailbox - NOT a smart mailbox as I want them OUT of Inbox - seems to be hit n miss. Some - the majority of messages - are moved as required but most days some (more or less) don't get caught.

We have a Late 2006 xsrv which has always run fine. A while ago, it froze up and we rebooted, all still works fine however the Hard Drive no longer shows on the desktop, nor does it show up in the Finder or in Disk Utility. The server is running Raid 5 and when I look in Raid Utility everything shows as "Good", including the Volume, the Raid Set and the three drives. The strange thing is that everything is functioning fine on the server other than the above. The problem however is that the drive is not showing so backups cannot identify the source to run.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a huge struggle installing Windows 7 through BootCamp. After the first time it rebooted during the installation process, it would not power up the screen (the computer and the setup were running, but the screen was off, not black, but off). I figured out that doing the rest of the installation through emulation software (I used VMWare Fusion) would work, and it did. Windows 7 should be fully installed, and works just fine if I boot it up through VMWare. But when I try to directly boot up from the Windows partition (not through VMWare), it shows me a flickering underscore ( _ ) for a while, then when it finally (if it does, sometimes it doesn't) goes to the window that says "Starting Windows", and you can see the logo coming up, it gives me a BSOD shortly after you can only see a fraction of the boot animation.
