View 17 Replies View RelatedI have just installed the iPhoto 8.0.2 update on my Powerbook G4 and, after 5 seconds of opening the application, it crashes/hangs. I have to force quit it in order to exit out of it. I have modified the slideshow files so that all the slideshows can play on my powerbook g4 if that helps at all. If I revert back to 8.0 or 8.0.1, iPhoto doesn't crash.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI tried to organize my Applications a little better, and created a sub called iLife '09. Moved my iPhoto there, and it runs just fine, but Software Update totally missed the 8.1 update and even manually downloaded I couldn't get it to update till I moved it back to the Applications root. So are we basically stuck with leaving things where they are or moving them around to get updated and back again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy upgrade seems to crash iPhoto and I have not been able to get iPhoto working. When I started iPhoto for the first time after the iLife update it had the usual "this library must be updated to work with this version of iPhoto" (that might not be the exact wording). Thoughtlessly I approved the dialogue as usual. The upgrade process made it through the first quick progress bar, but nearly immediately after starting the second progress bar iPhoto crashed. After restarting my mbp and opening iPhoto I got the same result. I even went so far as to reinstall the new iPhoto. Based on previous issues I tried holding option-command while starting iPhoto to get the rebuild dialogue and again the rebuild crashed iPhoto. Has anyone else been having the same issues or have any insight on how to resolve the issue?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI put in a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT HD in my 2010 15" MBP 2.66 GHz i7. I have read conflicting reports about it's effectiveness on both Macs and PCs; however I decided to try it. Overall, I have not had any major issues. Install was painless, including formatting and backup from TM. Now, last night and today, I have tried to use (1) iTunes and (2) iPhoto without the results I was seeking.
1) iTunes does not seem to even want to open correctly. It sits empty with my music tab selected. It seems more like it has frozen than anything else. All my music files are where they were before, so that hasn't changed. I have made sure it is pointing to the correct folder, which it is. I have also tried importing the library, and creating a new library all together. It runs through all the artist folders acting like it is importing them or the artwork, but then nothing ever shows up. Neither option works. When I try to navigate through iTunes, it does not happen. My apps and ringtones do not appear either, which is why I think it has something to do with locating my files, or a hiccup when displaying the lists. I tried Option-click to get my library, and that didn't work. I also deleted and reinstalled iTunes with no success.......................
iPhoto wouldnt open unless I updated to 9.1. now my computer says iPhoto is open but nothing showing, no interface, no little glow spot under the icon... Ive restarted several times and same issue... running OS 10.6.5
View 10 Replies View Relatedprogram that deletes configuration files and traces of programs not currently installed. After years of different macs and backups I probably have traces of a lot of junk and don't wish to go through every little folder and delete them manually. Is there a program that scans what you have in your applications folder or otherwise and detects what you have installed, what's not and deletes the orphaned configs and application support files?
View 23 Replies View RelatedOver the last year, when wanted to deleted something from iTunes, especially podcasts - I often by accident clicked the "keep files" option when asking about moving the files to the trash...
Now, I assume that these files are still clogging my HD - so - is there a way to delete these "lost" files automatically?
Yesterday I downloaded safari 5 and it was working fine. Then I tried to customize the toolbar but when I click on "Customize Toolbar", nothing happens (same with when I try it from the menu bar). Now I've been clicking around a bit and I accidentally removed the address bar and now I have to navigate via Wikipedia: Google Search URL. Does anybody know how to customize the toolbar? I have re-downloaded safari already

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have about 20 hours of low res digicam videos sitting in iphoto. When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated. How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
for me it has run like complete crap. its is slow and laggy, and actually causes my imac to temporarily freeze up, and slow down while running the beach ball. ive never seen anything make a mac act like windows before. anybody else been seeing any of these problems?

I am transferring info from an iBook G4 running Tiger to a MacBook running Snow Leopard. Everything is going well, except for my ability to transfer the iPhoto library. I have mounted the iBook to the MacBook via Firewire. When I transferred my iPhoto library from my MB to my new MBP, it was easy: all I had to do was drag over "iPhoto Library" from User>Pictures>iPhoto Library But it isn't set up the same way on the iBook: in User>Pictures, "iPhoto Library" is a folder instead of a small iPhoto icon (which you would need to right-click on to see its contents). When I copied the contents of the folder into "iPhoto Library" on the new MacBook, it didn't maintain all of the organization (eg. the albums). Is there any way to do this so that iPhoto will keep the organization of the photo library on the new MacBook, or am I destined to reorganize my thousands of photos into albums again? Please keep in mind that the MacBook is being set up as a new computer, and I am copying over the files/docs/music/photos that she wants to keep from the iBook. I am not using Migration Assistant.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Macbook Air 11" (July 2011 model) which came preinstalled with Lion (can't remember the version) and iLife 11.
On my first boot I noticed that the Mac App Store popped up a few updates and one of the updates was iPhoto 9.2.3. When I attempted to install the update, I was prompted to first update my Mac OS as the update was not applicable to my (then) Mac OS version.
I promptly updated my Lion version to 10.7.3 through Software Updates and attempted the iPhoto update again - nada! Mac App Store now says: "This update is not available", "You Must have previously purchased this item ..." and then prompts me to 'buy' the item (iPhoto 11?).
I haven't clicked on the 'buy' button in the fear of being charged to my linked Apple ID account and I am wondering why I am supposed to buy iPhoto when my MBA came preinstalled with iLife 11.

I was just doing What I thought was a standard software upgrade of iPhoto when, during the restart it said something unexpected had happened or something like that and just froze. Now when I try to restart I get the white screen with the apple , then an error message "pnic(CPU 0 caller 0xfffff800064ba7b): unable to find driver for this platform: ..." and it keeps going on Another box says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button..." when I do this, it just comes back to the same place.

My initial pleasure with the speed of my new-to-me Mac Pro (8 core) is turning to frustration as Lion and iPhoto get glitchier and slower with each update. Tonight, while simply saving a file in iPhoto, it crashed and took 97 seconds to reopen and stabilize (SBOD). I've seen posts as far back as early 2010 regarding iPhoto '11 being slow and unstable. Before being forced to "upgrade" my iPhoto library to accomodate the latest iPhoto update, I saved a copy, with the notion of returning to the previous iteration of iPhoto which always served me well. Has anybody tried this with Lion? I'm also considering going back to Snow Leopard.

I notice a lot of people are having this problem when it comes pre installed.
I can't update from the appstore and I can't update from the program itself. When I use software update it will say all software is up to date.
I checked the versions of the software that I have installed and they are not the new, current versions so yes i do need to update
App store says I need to update Garage Band and Iphoto but I need to use the other account that was used to purchase the software.
I have only ever had one account. This is not cool I have had this computer for 4 months now and this problem has been on going for 3.5 months

iPhoto 9.2.3 update. I can not get this update badge to go away. I have never purchased iPhoto through the App store so I don't know why it even shows up. I knew I had updated iPhoto already but wanted to see what it said when I clicked on the update and I got the following error:
iPhoto is already installed on this computer.
Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.
Of course, I had updated my iPhoto when it came out for my desktop a while ago and can't get this annoying badge to disappear.

Go to [URL] Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash. Now go to [URL] Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac. So now what do I do since they have totally left me? I still have this dumb badge showing. I purchased my iPhoto through iLife and the update will not go away. [URL]
