Jun 9, 2009I removed the new Safari 4 with AppZapper. I did'nt like the new UI. But now Safari 3 will not reinstall (see pic) How can I solve this?

Jun 15, 2010Many extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed.However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari
- Run OnyX
- Repair disk permissions
- Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't
- Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims

Usually, before installing adobe reader pdf documents opened nicely in Safari, with link to download or print a document. Now, all what opens is a gray page, without any content in it. When trying printing, I get blank page. Has anyone encountered this problem? How can I switch to old Safari behavior - native pdf reading ability, present in OSX?

But I went to check out the Safari Ad Blocker one and got it downloaded, but every time I double click to install it opens a new window and re-downloads its self again and doesn't install? Dec 30, 2009I absolutely LOVE Safari, despite the zippier speed of Chrome and the bells & whistles that accompany Firefox (both of which I now use from time to time, although Safari is definitely my MAIN browser). But why does each iteration of Safari seem to take up more system resources and run slower than the previous version? Especially if it's left on for a while- I had Safari use up to 700MB of memory (constant beachballing) for no apparent reason (no windows open) after I updated to the latest version. Anyone know why Safari is such a glutton with the system resources, and if there's a way to make it run a little slimmer?

Applications :: Unable To Open Safari Window / Safari Not Working Fine
Jul 2, 2010I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!

(i'm on my laptop now). the g5 however is my work computer and i have to get safari working.

Aug 13, 2009I've been using FireFox for months now, but wanted to give Safari another shot. Checking out some add-ons, I found Glims. I wanted it to change my search engine bar to Bing, instead of Google. I got it, installed it, and was prompted to restart Safari. I did, but now it won't open. I get this message. I tried uninstalling Safari and downloading a new copy, and that did nothing. I still get the same message. Any thoughts? Went to Home/Library/Input Managers and found a "Glims" folder. I trashed that and now it works fine, sans cookies and bookmarks.
