Safari keeps giving me popup windows saying a keychain can't be found. It's only just started doing this but it's really annoying. Could it have anything to do with the fact I installed a new flash player? That's the only difference I can think of.Also on another computer it keeps asking for a password to access the keychain. It only does this on one user account though. Any assistance is gladly accepted!

I'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.

I'm sure this is a very basic question, but having just made the Mac switch a week ago...I am lost. when I did a forum search, I found out how to access keychains, but I'm not sure if I found something particular to my question- please forgive me if I overlooked something.
I was downloading microsoft software last night and all of a sudden I began getting these little pop-ups that say "A keychain cannot be found for safari" with the option to cancel or reset to default.
how can I fix this so it doesn't happen?

I've never used OSX before about a week ago, but I am picking up on it well (I've used GNU/Linux for almost ten years so I know my way around an operating system). But I don't really think keychain access is working as it should...It's hard to explain. I mean, the way I understand it, shouldn't it be saving the passwords I type into Safari and auto-filling them? Because it only auto-fills some passwords. Paypal autofills, but my bank's website doesn't, and even this forum doesn't autofill. I have to type in my password every time I visit.
Is this working as intended? Is there a way I can get Safari or Keychain to fill in all passwords for me automatically? This is leopard on an iMac G5 iSight model. I did a fresh install like a week ago. Sorry if my question is vague but that's the best I can do with the amount I understand.

1) How can I export a keychain list? When I look in the file menu in Keychain Access, I can see Import but Export is dimmed. I want to merge my keychains at home with my keychains at work.
2) When I use Keychain Access and click one of those checkboxes that says "Show password," it asks me for my login password. That is fine, but when I click another record in the keychain database, it asks me for it again. In other words, I have to keep typing in my password for each individual entry in Keychain Access. I do not require that much security.
3) Where are the passwords all kept? In these files?: com.apple.keychainaccess.plist and login.keychain. If some hacker got a hold of these files, is there a way they could get my passwords?

My girlfriends Macbook has this popup about every 2-3 minutes while youre browsing the web. She doesnt remember ever setting a "keychain" password, and tried to type in the password that she uses to log into her macbook, but apparently it's not the same password. What can I do to get rid of this if she doesn't know the password? Can I delete and then reinstall Safari? Do I need to reformat and install the entire OSX? Should I just use Firefox and forget about Safari?

I am redoing my moms Macbook and she has her passwords saved in Safari, and you cant view them, like you can in Firefox, so I was wondering if there is any way to export or view them? I saw a thread that said copy ~/Library/Keychains and put that on the new Mac, but I just want to make sure that that will work, or if there is someway I can actually view the passwords & logins, etc.

so, i have gotten everything all set up and up and running but one thing that i have noticed is my network connection disconnecting itself. every time i have closed i the lid it has diconnected itself from the network. i realize that it goes to sleep when that happens and it shouldnt be really doing anything in sleep mode. but im kinda p-o'ed at how when i open it up i need to re enter the networs pass word. is there a way that i can make it so that it automatically connects to the network when its opened/turned on? i checked the box that "saves the password as a keychain" what ever that means too.

I'm looking for something more comprehensive than FF's inbuilt password. However, I was also hoping that the password manager would integrate nicely with Firefox. Right now, I'm looking at KeePassX and 1password. KeePassX is exactly what I want (secure, open source, etc) but I can't seem to figure out a way to integrate it seamlessly with FF- does anyone know how? As for 1password, I have difficulty trusting my password with it as it's close source and I'm paranoid that the commercial developer who coded it might have left a backdoor somewhere in the program (I know the probabilities of that are trivial, but as I said, I'm paranoid). So, are there any better alternatives out there?

My G4 Powerbook (powerpc) has been hiccuping lately.
Basically, i'll be surfing or typing an email and every gesture takes 2-3 secs to complete. Even simple things like switching tabs or highlighting a few words are delayed.
I'm no expert but i opened Activity Monitor to take a look and noticed Firefox running between 60 - 85%... and this is with it just sitting there. I attached a screen shot of this so you can see it.
It seems to me that Firefox is causing this. But what can i do so it doesnt hog the system?
BTW - I have OS X 10.4.11 Firefox just upgraded itself to 3.0.7 and only had that plus Safari and Activity Monitor running.

Is the newest safari really any better than the newest firefox? It doesn't seem any faster and there are little things I miss that safari doesn't have.
Firefox has:
Addons
Personas
3-finger swipe to top/bottom
enter in google bar to igoogle page
better adblock
Safari:
Fits the "look"
Supposedly faster
dragging tabs looks a lot nicer (animated)

I'd love to use Safari more, it's so fast and smooth, but whenever I use it's RSS reading function it feels so redundant and dumb, it's like why don't I just go to the blog as I normally do? I love how in Firefox I can just see all the new stories quickly in a drop-down menu and go stright to the ones I want to read right away, is there no way at all to do that in Safari? Or is there some plugin program out there that does that?

Ok I am only talking about a few features.
How can I add the feature to Safari that is on FireFox that let's you type in for example "Mac Rumors" in the address bar (not the full url) and it pulls up the macrumors.com with just those two words?
How can I add the feature that allows my bookmarks on my toolbar look like this in FireFox: (JUST the icons instead of the typical text only in Safari)
Also what is good to organize bookmarks?
That is mainly it, I just want those two features. To me Safari works a heck of a lot better than FireFox. FireFox for me always crashes even when I have no add ons or anything. YouTube is usually slow and it is just better to use Safari to me. Any advice for the above features on Safari?

I've been using Firefox for several years now, but I'm planning on switching to Safari because it's so much faster. But there are two annoying things that are preventing me from doing so:
1) In Firefox, I can simply add a Bookmark or a Folder directly under the URL box (image below). How do I achieve this in Safari 4.0.3?
2) How can I view the CSS code of a Website that I'm currently viewing?
