I just bought the high end macbook pro 13" (2.53 GHz) today and I have a question about which version of windows to install on the boot camp partition. I saw a couple of videos on youtube showing pretty smooth performance of GTA IV on a MacBook Alu 13" 2.4 ghz model using BootCamp Windows Vista SP1. I dont want to install Windows Vista SP1 just because of that video and I want to know which version could give me even better performance. Both official and unofficial windows versions of XP, 7 and vista are under consideration. I dont need windows for anything else, just for playing a couple of games.
I'm planning on installing bootcamp with vista. I've got 4GB of ram on a new MBP. Should I go with the vista home premium upgrade? Or do I need the full version and not the upgrade disc?
When downloading the new version to upgrade an old one, is the new one installed on top of the old version, or is it just upgraded? Simply put, should I delete the old version and then install the new, or is this unnecessary? Hard drive space is at a premium, which is why I ask.
My Firefox asked if I wanted to install updated system plug-ins. I closed the browser, drug the install to my Applications folder, and now there's a copy in there as well as a Firefox ejectable icon on my desktop. I don't know where to go from here.
how to erase and install new copy of Mac OS X 10.5.8 ?? IS there a way to do this without CD?? I no longer have the disks and I cant find a way to get this done.. The reason I want to do this is because a 12 year old was using this computer for a long time and there is a lot of junk stuff on the disk, so I want to start from fresh.
I have a mac OSX version 10.5.8 and i was trying to install the ilife 11 i just bought and was super excited about but when i tryed to download ilife 11 it said i needed to update my computer, so i went and downloaded the updates but my mac still says its the same version! and ilife wont install... I tried to go back and install the updates again but there not there it says I'm all updated! but 10.5.8 is not the latest version right ? What should I do?
I have the OEM version of Windows XP Pro Sp2 and i am having trouble installing it using boot camp 2.0. The general opinion seems to be that the OEM version works fine so would someone
I'm convinced that the next version of OSX will allow you to install and run natively all iPhone and iPad apps, with future screens being touch enabled, and those that aren't let you use the mouse instead of your finger when gesturing. I can't wait till I can install and run the facebook app on a MBP, for no reason in particular, just because I can.
I've tried this software update multiple times and now I find out that I can't extend my AppleCare warranty after it expires. Basically the software update proceeds as usual, the computer restarts and just as you think everything is fine, the message 'There was a problem installing this software update. Quit all open applications and try updating again. If the problem contines, contact Apple support.'
I have an older MacBook (OS X 10.6.8) and I can't install most apps. On iOS it will install the newest compatable app. Is there a way to do something like that on a Mac?
Info: MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Intel CoreDuo 2GHz 2GBRAM Early2006
What version Safari should I be using with 10.5.8? I've got version 5.0.6 and was told by Ad Block I needed a newer version. That was right after I updated Ad Block for Safari and lost 75% of my home page. That is, it no longer appears after updating.
I'm running Safari 5.0.2 on a 15" Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm having issues with some sites so wish to try another version of Safari to see if that will help. I downloaded versions 5.0.2 (just for safety if I had to return to it), 5.0.3 and 5.1.1, all of which said they were compatible with Snow Leopard. When I attempt to install 5.0.3 it says it cannot install as it needs OS version 10.6.5 When I attempt to install 5.1.1 it says it cannot install as it needs OS version 10.6.7 Even when I attempt to install 5.0.2 it says it cannot install as it needs OS version 10.6.4 What Gives? Is there a version of Safari out there that will install onto OS 10.6.6? Is there a version of Safari out there that will install onto OS 10.6.6?
I'm trying to install a retail version of OS X Tiger on an iBook G3 600mhz but all I'm getting is a blue screen after the initial grey screen with white apple logo. I've managed to get OS X Panther on it no problem but Tiger is just not playing ball. I'm having to boot up in Target Disk mode or use an external Firewire DVD player and it does the same thing every time. What I can say is that the iBook only has 128mb of RAM at present but I'm upgrading that in a day or two and I didn't think that would necessarily prevent the OS from being installed. Oh and it doesn't need a firmware upgrade.
