Much advice but not able to launch Safari. Also unable to INSTALL 10.5.8 update. I'm looking for Input Manager, but also am unable to find this folder on my system. Using MacBook 10.5.2. Should I be trying to install 10.5.3 or a lower version?
Many extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed. However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari - Run OnyX - Repair disk permissions - Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't - Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims
I've had this problem for a while, I've taken it to the Genius bar, but still no love. The problem: Safari pretty much works fine, except for a couple of websites, like Apple's One-to-One page and Netflix.
When I attempt to sign in on 1-to-1, an error message tells me to update Safari 3.0 and install it. The same happens with netflix - instant watch.
My Mac is fully update with Snow Leopard and the latest Safari (v 4.0.5). To make it even more weird, I get the same message when using FireFox.
I'm getting a prompt to install the latest update for OSX and Safari. Can download it okay but when it gets to 'configuring' it stalls. Not doing anything. I have to hold the power button down to shut down then start the system up again. This has happened three times. Anyone else have this? Anyone know what is up with it?
I'm trying to update my Macbook Pro to the new 10.7.4 I have downloaded the update twice (no interruptions during download) and when i click to restart the computer to install the update, the update dosent install. I keep getting an error message saying the download is corrupted, when the update tries to unpack to install. Â
After I have installed the evernote extension Safari shows no more extensions. The extension window is empty and if I try to reinstall extensions regardless of extension, I receive a popup window that says "An error occurred while installing the extension According to the preference setting, extensions are "on" but no extensions are listed.
I am using Windows XP SP2, (going to switch to Mac as soon as I get enough money!), and I want to know how to install a plug-in in Safari 3.0.4, mainly, Inquisitor.
I've found the "Plugins" folder that is in the Safari application folder, I just don't know whether to put the entire folder there, or a certain file. >_<
I have a new iMac with Leopard. When my files were transferred from my older iMac, Safari didn't load. I downloaded Safari, but two days later it disappeared. Now when I try to download Safari from the web I get the following message when I select the Hard Drive as the destination:
"You cannot install Safari 3 Beta on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
I didn't expect to have compatibility issues with this combination, but I am stuck. I was experiencing some small problems with Safari after upgrading: downloads would launch a new empty tab rather than an actual download, and I would get graphical glitches loading pages from top tabs - so I uninstalled Safari and downloaded a new copy. However, on re-installing, I get a message informing me that I need at least MacOS 10.5.8 installed...
Has anyone else found this? I did an upgrade install of Snow Leopard, and other than a few 3rd party apps being caught out, all is well, and I am enjoying an otherwise noticeably nippier system. As Safari was working previously (unsurprisingly), perhaps this problem stems from an OS compatibility flag within the Safari installer itself, similar to that found in 1Password recently, that could be altered within the installer package to allow installation - But I am guessing, and I don't see why I am having this issue in the first place given the amount of testing of Safari leading up to Snow Leopard.
I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.
Updating lion and the blue installation bar has moved to abou1cm from the right and has reached the "Âoving items into place..." location. The blue color is still flowing like it is installing, but the bar has moved for over an hour. I'm afraid to shut the machine off.
The internal hard drive on my early 2009 iMac is being replaced but I have to reinstall Snow Leopard myself.I did search in MRoogle and at Apple and cannot seem to find instructions on how to perform a clean Snow Leopard install on an iMac internal HD.
Can I do this? And if so how? Or do you think I should try and install Leopard on the existing Hd in the iMac? I still have these discs but have to get the SL applications install disc out of my drive (it's stuck and the iMac won't boot past the blue screen).
I am trying to install Aim Sniff which runs through terminal. I am slowly figuring out how to use terminal to run .pl files but the readme files says I need to install these dependencies.
Code: Requires Samba to perform SMB lookup features.
i have tried to re-install leopard into my macbook but it is just all a mess. i inserted leopard cd (original copy) into macbook to do a clean install to my new(to me) used macbook. the computer message after choosing language says "cannot install mac osx on this computer".
1. used disk utility to reapair disk...did no work 2. erased hd..still did not work. 3. made partition to install from external hd...now just made a total mess with computer. 4.i try to start computer from dvd drive with original leopard cd...still does not work. says cannot install mac osx to this computer...
i have macbook intel core duo 1 gig ram and enough memory.
My safari application wont update my computer keeps displaying that all the applications are up to date and then when I try downloading safari 5 from apple.com I am told in the set up box my computer(volume) does not meet the requirements. I have MAC OS X Snow leopard version 10.6.3 on a Mac book pro 13" 2009 mid year 2.26 Ghz intel core 2 duo
I updated safari (and now I did OSX, and its still slow) and performance is slow, unpredictable and randomly dies. The network is perfect though and this issue does not happen in transmission.
Today a new auto-update came up and I ran it - it included a tweak to 10.7.3 as well as Safari and a few others. My Safari (5.2) got completely trashed. Will not even open any more - all it does is crash immediately upon launch. I have a Time Machine backup from about 40 minutes earlier I can recover from if needed. Meanwhile I'm lucky I have a MacBook Pro as well, and am able to get online while I am completely restoring Lion from a patchstick.Â
I'll post the crash report (I copied and saved it) once I get back up.Incidentally, I've been getting a lot of crashes in Mail as well. Always when the computer is asleep. Anyone else having these problems - or have a solution?
so i installed a dev preview of safari 4, but now want to switch back. i deleted the old safari, but when i go to install safari now it says this disk already has a newer version of safari installed. what can i do?
Restored my HD this AM from a TM backup and am experiencing a lot of problems which include (1) Safari and iPhoto crash upon launch, (2) Mail launches but crashes when I attempt to access an email, (3) I have several "offline images" in my Aperture Library and any attempt to access metadata results in a crash.
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
I get this error: "unexpected error occurred (0); unable to upgrade firmware". They refer me to this site: [URL]. I just bought this late 08 MBP and I have a bootcamp partition running Windows XP Pro 32Bit on a NTFS partition. Why is this so complicated? Macs have always been easy on me until this. They tell me to do a full reinstall but I don't understand how this will fix the problem since I don't know where this comes from. It says to go check my "Partition Map Scheme" and I have a "Master Boot Record". It says I need a "GUID_partition_scheme". How come I don't have a "GUID_partition_scheme"?
I just bought my first mac. IMac 20" 4gb ram "aso". I am trying to install Combined Mac os X - update. 10.5.6. (Thats atleast the name for it Directly transformed from norwegian to english) and when i try to run the update it ask me to reboot. I press reboot and it closes all of my programs and the update starts installing , but the progress bar stops when its like 20% finished, I've been waiting for 12 hours and still no progress.
I can not update or install new apps. Some work though, some do not. For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.Â
I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.Â
Console log shows 3 errors, as follows:Â

I finally installed Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. When I tried to update to Mac OS X 10.5.8, I got the following alert:"You cannot install Mac OS X Update on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."Â
