View 4 RepliesLate this morning on my iMac 24" with 10.6.2 it didn't matter whether I was using Safari or Foxfire the would both freeze and I get the maddening beach ball and have to force quit. Any ideas why this would suddenly start happening? I haven't done any thing special to the iMac as far as memory or anything. My laptop isn't doing it, just the iMac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, YouTube freezes and causes my browser to shutdown. I've tried it with both Safari and Firefox. This is the only time they do this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I select to upload a document into a form in any of the browsers, I get the "File Upload" window, but then the spinning wheel just spins and never loads my files on the system to select to upload.
I am running the latest software updates... OS X 10.7.4, Safari 5.1.7, Chrome 19.0.1084.42, Firefox 12.0.

I have a macbook pro and I have the OS X lion installed with all the latest updates to Safari etc. Lately my browsers have been acting up.
While I can access a lot of websites on my Safari there are other sites which do not load and I get the spinning beach ball before Safari crashes. My Safari also seems to take longer to load.
I have the latest Firefox 12 installed. When that starts up on the home page it crashes straight away after the obligatory spinning beach ball. I tried to trouble shoot Firefox but it wouldn't even open in safe mode before it crashed.
I also have Opera which doesn't even start up. So I uninstalled and upgraded to Opera Next. It doesn't even start up!
I have checked for plug in issues. I have up to date adobe flash player and java - unless there is some issue there. I also checked my DNS and it seemed clean of trojans. But I could or may have overlooked something.
I did use 'onyx' to clean my files but the trouble began before I used it. So now I am at a loss to understand why I am having problems with my browsers.
I'm not very technical but I have done my best to follow various threads around here to dismiss obvious causes.

Just bought a new iMac and I'm not completely familiar with Lion yet. I cannot figure out how to get my browsers to retain user/pass information. When I am prompted to save U/P info from a site I click yes, but when I go back to the site the sign-in info is gone.

Many extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed. However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari
- Run OnyX
- Repair disk permissions
- Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't
- Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
I removed the new Safari 4 with AppZapper. I did'nt like the new UI. But now Safari 3 will not reinstall (see pic) How can I solve this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated when Safari 5 came out, it's been ridiculously slow. About 5 times slower than Safari 4. I remember reading about such problems with Safari 5 and I tried all of the recommendations, but they didn't help. Some pages just won't load unless I try multiple times.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHas anyone noticed that Safari 5 is kind of slower than Safari 4.1??? It's not me. I am sure that 4.1 was faster and i enabled the develop menu so i chose 4.1 version under the user agent! I am using the same network and it's still slower! EVERY SINGLE PAGE! what's up???
View 24 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it was possible to tell Safari to look in multiple or different keychains for login credentials. I have x509 certificates that I want to put in a different keychain from the default "login" one, but when I surf to a webpage that requires that certificate, Safari doesn't seem to want to use it.
