I have Mac Mini 1.66 Intel 2006 OS X 10.4.11 with CD-R and DVD Player that won't boot properly into single user mode using a IBM PC keyboard. I have tried the alt-s, windows key-s and control-s key combinations. from the mac keyboard hints sheet located on this web site.
I have also tried to boot with key combinations from the mac mini manual with no success. I have also tried to simply insert the install CD/DVD for MAC OS X 10.4 that came with the computer and start the computer with various key combinations and the cd/dvd drive will not boot.
What do I need to do to be able to accomplish these tasks with the PC/ Windows keyboard.
My 2009 MacBook keyboard won't type letters. just the number keys and symbols work...any advise?. Is this a setting issue. No physical damage. Also the track pad acts like only secondary click works. When I tap or click it activates "secondary" function

Ok so i installed new software onto my mac then it told me to restart so i did. When it ran up again it gave me the log in screen so I logged in and typed my password in. Then it just gives me the default background and a cursor. I can log in on my other two accounts but all of my data is on the account I cant log in on! I have got Filevault enabled if that could be the problem??
View 17 Replies View RelatedOk so within the last day my internet sharing has been working fine, it just won't let incoming devices connect to it. I.E. my Ipod Touch sees my MacBook Pro, but doesn't get an IP I believe, same case with my iPhone because it tries to use the Wifi, but since it can't properly connect either, it switches to 3G. If I disable the Firewall, everything works as it should, so the Firewall is definitely the problem. What I am stuck on is how to configure it properly so that I can use internet sharing, while having the firewall enabled. I haven't even touched anything related to the Firewall in months, so the fact that this just randomly happened is beyond me. I have even made sure that the internet sharing program in the firewall list has the "Allow incoming connections" toggle selected. I haven't touched the box that says "Allow signed software to receive incoming connections," but that box has always been enabled for months. I can't remember now, but I think initially when I came up with the idea that Firewall was causing problems, I noticed that the internet sharing program in the firewall config list actually had the "Block incoming connections" toggle selected. I thought allowing incoming connections would surely fix this, but I guess not.

When I go into my preferences on safari, it says that java-scrip is in fact enabled, so I'm not sure why the website isn't recognizing that it is enabled.

I don't know what to do here. Do I not install Java - assuming it isn't already installed (and that raises another question, how do I find out if it is installed?) It seems that not having it installed is affecting the ability of certain programs to run on my Mac, so is there an alternative program I could use? My Mac is OS X Version 10.7.4.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhy I was able to see my father's iMac in the airdrop menu and he was able to see mine as well but after a short period of time both our computers disappear from each other's airdrop menu. The screen saver did not activate and neither of us switched to different screens. I have brought my Macbook Pro as close as 8 inches away from his. I have used airdrop before with my laptop and a friend's newer macbook pro and airdrop worked just fine. We both have the same antivirus, kapersky, and I have disabled and enabled it so I doubt that is the problem.

I just bought the latest macbook pro. It is actually my first mac so I'm not really sure if this is supposed to happen. But I tried plugging in my "ordinary pc" (meant to say that is not a Mac mouse) mouse which is an A4Tech brand. It's working when I move the mouse in huge spaces. It goes smoothly that way. But when I try to move it in small little spaces, it's kind of like not going smoothly. Especially when I'm working on small details like Photoshop, it's kind of difficult to maneuver the mouse arrow. I tried other "pc" mouse as well but it's just the same.. Does this really happen if I'm not using Mac's mouse? How do I fix this?

Its the new bluetooth aluminum one, without the numberpad.When connected to his computer, it acts like a mouse.... The "i" key clicks, i think it was 'G' moves the cursor, and will no type at all. The 'F' keys work, volume up, down, play pause.... those work. It will even eject, but will not type.
The funny thing? It works fine with my aluminum macbook....Both are 10.5.6
right, i have msn messenger for mac 7.0.2 and when ever i send a message i have to click back in the box where u type at the bottom before i can type again.

When I try to make prints on 2400 from Final Cuts Pro X, I do not see a place to select the kind of paper I want use. I see print or crop size but nothing to select Premium Photo Paper or Matt or any selection at all. I also don't see Quality selection or Preview beforee printing. I had all these things on my PC with Photoshop Elements. How does it work on Mac?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two computers, one running Snow Leopard, and the other running Lion. Meanwhile, I have a 2Wire Modem supplying me with my internet. On the Snow Leopard Mac, I simply go into system preferences like usual, select my network, and enter the password and everything is great. On the Lion computer however, no matter how many times I enter the password, or how closely I stare at the screen wishing for it to work, it tells me "Connection Timeout" as if I've entered the wrong password, despite the fact that I've entered and checked it more than 7 times now. Trying to see what the difference between the two machines was, I opened the Wi-Fi prompt for both and found this, while the Snow Leopard computer says "The Wi-Fi network "My_Network_Name" requires a WPA password." the Lion computer specifies WPA2. Could the Lion computer think the router is using the wrong security type?
