OS X V10.7 Lion :: Airdrop Is Enabled On Both Mac-book Pro And IMac With It?
May 24, 2012
why I was able to see my father's iMac in the airdrop menu and he was able to see mine as well but after a short period of time both our computers disappear from each other's airdrop menu. The screen saver did not activate and neither of us switched to different screens. I have brought my Macbook Pro as close as 8 inches away from his. I have used airdrop before with my laptop and a friend's newer macbook pro and airdrop worked just fine. We both have the same antivirus, kapersky, and I have disabled and enabled it so I doubt that is the problem.
Info:
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Macbook Pro and iMac
I don't see the Airdrop option on my iMac after upgrading to Lion. I assume my hardware doesn't support that feature. If so, can my computer be upgraded to allow this feature?Â
How do i check to see if i have unauthorised sharing of my network. i think i've activated my macbook pro to my new imac but there's a shared pc on my shared network with an id i don't recognise
Info:MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I was trying to share files between new imac and macbook pro and there is no airdrop on macbook pro. All the threads and info say that it should be there but it is not in the finder at all.
I have seen references to something called Air Drop to allow two Macs who are on the same Wi-Fi network to exchange files but cannot find any way to use it or instructions.
I have the latest Macbook Pro, so it shouldn't be that.Basically I have what most people have. it keeps telling me "User declined request"when the other person did not even recieve anything, whatsoever. Even though I am right next to the person.People have said deleting/re-adding your apple ID solves this problem. for me, it only solves it one boot. So for every fail, I would have to boot twice. Can this not be patched?
Does anyone out there with a wifi enabled tv have any idea how to wirelessly display the imac on the tv screen? I figured since they're both wireless it could be done, maybe i'm wrong.
After my computer slowed down, I checked activity monitor to see address book using between 80 - 90 % of the CPU. I closed Address book and reopened. same issue. Tried deleting preferences and rebuilding metadata. Running Lion 10.7.3 on a new IMac
I'm having some trouble figuring out how to sync outlook over a iMac and Mac Book Pro without connecting them by a cable each time.Â
Had the Mac Book first and did a migrate to the iMac. Everything is working fine but when I open an email on one it doesn't show that its already been opened on the other.Â
Is there a way to get outlook to update itself, or a program out there that will do this for me.
how I know if Java is enabled on my Mac? I'm getting confused as some of the programs I've bought need Java to be running, but information on the Java Tester Website indicates it is not necessarily encouraged by Apple. Copy of information from Java Tester Website below: "April 3, 2012Important security updates issued. See More than 600,000 Macs infected with Flashback botnet andJava update for OS X patches Flashback malware exploit. Mac users running OS X 10.5 Leopard should not use Java, because Apple has stopped supporting Java on Leopard. The last version of Java for OS X 10.5 has known bugs that will not be fixed. Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7 updates Java to 1.6.0_31Java for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion 2012-001 updates Java to v1.6.0_31"Â
I don't know what to do here. Do I not install Java - assuming it isn't already installed (and that raises another question, how do I find out if it is installed?)Â Â It seems that not having it installed is affecting the ability of certain programs to run on my Mac, so is there an alternative program I could use? My Mac is OS X Version 10.7.4.Â
I have been using Lion for many months with few issues. But the Address Book application on my iMac started acting up two days ago and now will not open at all. BTW, I use iCloud extensively to sync the iMac, an iBook, an iPad and and iPhone. The Address Book app still works fine on the other three, just not the iMac.
I am trying to import my address book contacts information from iCloud to my iMac. I want the addresses to be physically on the iMac and to stay there when I turn off contacts in my iMac iCloud settings. I thought I could do it by exporting the Address Book to an external hard drive with iCloud contacts on, turning iCloud contacts off, and importing the Address Book from the external drive. Well, the iMac was not so easily fooled; when I did this, it turned Contacts back on in the iCloud settings and when I then turned it off (again) and clicked to save contacts on the iMac, the address book was empty again. How can I actually, physically, transfer my Contacts from iCloud to my IMac? I am doing this as a means of copying my iPhone (and IPad) contacts to my iMac. I want the contacts to be the same in all three devices with iCloud contacts turned off on all three devices.
I was watching WWDC 2003(panther intro) this morning, and I only just learned about Fast Account Switching from it. So, right after watching, I went to system preferences and enabled fast switching. However, right after I did this, my iMac made an unusually loud whir, which I assumed was the hard drive loading some files, although I have never heard it do this before. After about a minute of hearing this, I assumed that something was wrong, and I quit all applications other than system preferences, and when it didn't stop, I disabled Fast Switch. The iMac quickly quieted down. After thinking about it, I realized that I only had 1GB of RAM in the machine, which may cause the system to use virtual memory. Would having 2GB or even 4GB make this not happen, or would I need more than that? I never have noticed the iMac lagging in other areas, but would RAM help in general tasks too?
10.6 Aluminum iMac w/wireless keyboard and trackpad.Working fine long-term, no recent change to the h/w or system software. All of a sudden pointing started operating as if permanently in mouse-down state. In Finder, this means that the mouse would move around the last-selected object. It is impossible to put the object down and so impossible to operate the Mac. Restart doesn't help.I turned off the wireless devices, replaced the wireless keyboard and trackpad with old, wired keyboard and mouse, and restarted. Normal operation was restored. Tried putting back the the keyboard, but pointing was disabled the instant I re-enabled Bluetooth. Now stuck permanently as if in mouse-up state, so impossible to operate. Fail.Temporarily OK with wired keyboard and mouse. Ihow to return the system to wireless keyboard and trackpad operation?
When I use Mail, my read emails are "filed" into folders. How do I "match up" the folders across a Mac Book Pro, iPhone, iPad ,and IMac so that it's identical?
Address-book doesnt work after update from Snow Lepard to Lion 10.7.3 PB says your address-book is 5.0.3. PB says You have adressbook 10.5.3, yes, but now?
I am trying to get airdrop to work on my mbp, I understand that the process networkbrowseragent should be running, however it isn't on my computer (even after I reboot). How do I get it to run?
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have a Macbook Pro running on OS X Yosemite. Yesterday I was at a meeting with other people using the same laptop and their AirDrop all works (when you click on the AirDrop icon it starts to scan like a radar. Mine however, doesn't do anything even though bluetooth is on and I have changed the settings to say "Allow me to be discovered by: everyone." I do notice also that my AirDrop icon is blue in the window instead of gray like everyone else's. This is what it looks like when I click on it. No scanning happens. I can't see other devices and they can't see me.
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
I cannot get Airplay to work on an older MacBook, ca. 2007, even though I recently had Apple install a new hard drive, 4 Gigs of RAM, and Lion OS X 10.7.4.Â
