View 3 Replies View RelatedI run iMac OS X version 10.5.2. Have the usual Mac Mail program, working through Embarq. There is also an email program installed by the Mac staff where I bought machine, which works off Safari, which has been set to open its first page on the Embarq page. Finally, also on advice of Mac staff, I have email program in Thunderbird from Mozilla. That seems easiest to use, but all the files holding addresses and group lists are on one of the other two. Have tried to move them to Thunderbird. No luck. Wont work. Would like to combine them all on Thunderbird. Could someone suggest if this is possible, so as to avoid adding new addresses (over 400 at this point) one at a time?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow to make the contacts I have through the Mail program sync up or copy over to my Address Book? Speaking of which, does anyone know how to delete contacts from my Mail? When I go to send an email it can populate the send field with previously-written to contacts, but I can't seem to delete some I don't need/use. That's when I found out that my Address Book doesn't reflect the same things which lead me to asking.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo while browsing the internet I have had the computer pop up to alert me that a program has downloaded itself. The first was PerformanceOptimizer which shrunk my screen and "informed me about the dangers of viruses". Then it force downloaded itself and my downloads stack showed me the .exe file. I removed and ran clamXav. Now the same thing happened but today it called itself Antivirus 2009. I force quit Safari and nothing downloaded to my stack. Is this how others here notice these attempts that are aimed at PC users?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWill someone clever please tell us newbies how to fix the problem: I have been using Filezilla (before that, Cyberduck) to upload files to my older style HTML website. I just installed Lion and there is a big cross sign through the latest Filezilla icon saying "PowerPC programs don't work under Lion." I read posts from people saying it works, other posts talking about another kind of FTP on the Mac itself, and lots of talk of SFTP and command line stuff.
For we who just use these apps by pushing buttons and moving on when they work, can you list step by step what we need to do to get Filezilla working again, or point to a different program to download? If I need to go back and reinstall my entire previous Snow Leopard machine from my bootable clone, tell me that and I'll do it. I have a long lost of to-do's and can't spend days experimenting with clean installs (however you do those).
I have a problem with downloading files on my OSX partition. When using firefox/opera/safari to download a file, I often get an error "the source file could not be read, please try again later or contact system administrator" (Firefox) the other browsers just stop.
I tried repairing disk and permission repair, but no luck. Does anyone of you guys experienced similar problem or know how I can fix this? please let me know.
I did an extensive search for this topic before posting, so I guess it's safe to ask. Are there any places where you can download other iPhoto book themes? I would really like to have more variation with the books. Or if there isn't any place to download new ones from, is there a way to make your own? I know there are Keynote themes and iDVD themes, but are there iPhoto book themes? Or are they way too complex compared to iDVD and Keynote?

Does anyone know a program I can download that will convert avi to mpeg? Everything I've found so far is usually only a free trial. I've tried MPEG streamclip, but it doesn't recognize avi and the conversion is screwed up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a program to download websites for later offline viewing. I am spending tomorrow with my grandmother and she doesn't have the internets but I'd like to download some free programming manuals for later viewing. Unfortunately they don't have a PDF. Internet Explorer for Mac had a really nice feature where you could download a site for later offline viewing. I haven't seen a comparable feature in any other browser.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTomato Torrent, BitTorrent AND Transmission are not downloading torrents. I've tried them all on many different files and not one single torrent file is working on any of the programs.
Tomato says:
"Last Error: Tracker announce still not complete 180 seconds after starting it, (at Mon Sep 14 '09 @ 10:12:24 PM)"
OR
"Last Error: Problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error (60, 'Operation timed out')>, (at Mon Sep 14 '09 @ 10:13:09 PM)"
There seems to be a problem with connecting to tracker, however I have been using Tomato for months and it has worked perfectly in the past.
Can anyone suggest something better than unison for usenet? Currently I am using giganews as my usenet and the speeds are pretty crappy to what I get on newsbin for pc.
