My local newspaper states they will release a ebook this month through itunes. At another point in this announcement they refer to it as a ipod book. I am interested in the subject of this future ebook and want to know if and how I will be able to read it as well as other ebooks on my macbook pro.Â

Amazon and publisher Macmillan finalized their agreement for higher-priced e-books over the weekend. The Wall Street Journal noted that the agreement between the two parties will likely "set the stage" for changes in the e-book market in 2010, as Apple enters the fray with its new iPad."By agreeing to accept a new pricing model, Amazon has publicly acknowledged the sudden emergence of a rival that may not only threaten its highly popular Kindle franchise but also its total domination of e-books," the report said. It noted that new, higher prices, at least for Macmillan, would begin when the iPad goes on sale in March.It is Apple's entrance into the e-book market, with its new iBooks application and accompanying iBookstore, that has caused a new rift between publishers and Amazon. Following Macmillan's lead, Hachette Book Group and HarperCollins have both announced their intent to ink new deals with more flexible price structuring with Amazon.
Based on their content deals with Apple, publishers will offer new hardcover bestsellers for between $12.99 and $14.99 on the iPad's iBookstore. Publishers want to offer books under the same pricing structure on Amazon's Kindle.Last week, Hachette CEO David Young said the price increase is not a way for publishers to make more money on books. In fact, he said, they will make less on each e-book sale under the new model, but authors and agents will be able to make money on every digital sale. This is a rather bizarre issue and I will try to explain the best I can. First off, I did a search, and found nothing recent that could help me with this issue.
Here are my specs: Uni-body Macbook Pro (late 2008) 15"-Snow Leopard I have checked for all updates, and am up to date on all things.
Also, is it possible to share an iTunes library between my MBA and my PC so I can sync my iPad and iPhone without having to create a new library? The library file is currently on the NAS and just wanted to use the same one. Would it allow me to sync my iPhone with the PC and the iPad with the MBA using the same library on the NAS? I know this is more of an iTunes question, but figured I would post it here instead of starting another thread.

The drive in my G5 tower will read/write commercial or blank CDs and will read/write blank DVDs, however, it will not read most commercial DVDs. When I insert them it tries to read it then after a few seconds it just spits them back out. Occasionally commercial DVDs will read and mount fine, but this seems to be rare.

I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

I'm a photographer, so I need a computer that can edit photos and video and not just to browse. I spend 5 days a week at my University and the weekends at home, so there is a little issue with the mobility. I have over 30GB of music by the way. Budget allowing, I can get the [ MC511ZP/A - iMac 27"/2.8 ghz Intel Core i5 /4 GB/1 TB HD/ATI Radeon HD 5750 with 1 TB ] as an iMac, or the [ MC373LL/A - MBP 15" 2.66 Ghz i7/4 GB/ 500 GB HD/ 512 MB GDDR3 Intel HD ] if I were to get a Macbook Pro.
Given the circumstances, would it be more reasonable for me to get the MBP+iPad so that I could have a powerful computer I could easily move between my two houses while at the same time having a super-mobile tablet to use in school and for non-heavy duty computing activities, the MBP+iPod Touch which would be the same concept as the iPad but then I'd have to use the MBP for e-mailing and web browsing and just stick to having mobile music, or the 27" iMac which gives me the most bang for the buck and a really pretty screen while having the iPad as my mobile computer although it would mean I would have to go 2-3 days a week with only my iPad as a computer excepting long vacations when I would just take my iMac back to our family house?
I have the Australin app called Ninenewsbreak and the app works well on my iphone4 BUT the sound won't work on my iPad.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times and still no sound. This app is for the iPhone and iPad according to the advert in the app store. The sound works great on the iPad for other apps downloaded.Â

I know this is lame, but I searched and can't find a solution. When I click on a day in ical it says it is a Read-only calendar. I repaired permissions, but it still says read only. The strange part is, in the Get Info screen, it says Read-Write for all the users.

There are two MacBooks and two PCs that connect to the network. I only need my MacBook to be able to write to the hard drive but I need the two PCs to be able to access and use the files on the hard drive. I was going to get a 1TB external and give it two partitions. The first partition is going to be the Time Machine backup for my MacBook and the other will be accessed by all computers on the network. What format will the second partition need to be so that both MacBooks and both PCs can view and use the files? Also what external hard drive would you recommend?
