I recently discovered that many random email addresses are being added to my address book. The majority is junk and is clogging my address book with entries that could possibly be spam addresses. First off, is there something I inadvertantly turned on? Is there a way to disable this feature? I have installed one tool called Attachment Tamer (ver3.0.10 from Lokiware) but this does not seem to have anything relevant.

Does anyone else have this issue? I know of one other person in a previous thread but this never occured to me before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI save all my contacts in Address Book in the First Name field (not using Last Name Field). When I use Mail to send emails, somehow last name of the sender/recipient gets added to that person's contact. So John Harris becomes John Harris Harris - super annoying!
Someone suggested to delete all from Recent Recipients in Mail - I did that, it helped but only in relation to those contacts who have been deleted from Recent Recipients - is there a way to disable Mail poaching surnames from my emails and inserting them into address book automatically?
To repair permissions I just click a little "Repair Permissions" button. Don't know why nor what it actually does, but I understand that I should do it from time to time.
But if it's so important, why doesn't OS X just do it automatically?
I click on safari icon on dock but it fails to connect, so I have to go through several windows to get connected, putting the WPA key in each time.
Always after a reboot, and possibly after a logoff/logon situation.
Is there a way for me to go to a webpage and have it automatically download all of the PDF's it links to?

I use Backup (the Mac app) to backup some things to my iDisk and others to an hd connected to my airport extreme. It works fine, except for that when the app appears (each day) for the scheduled backup to the network hd, (it sits there waiting, saying ''waiting for volume... and the name of the disk"). I have to go to the finder, open a window, go to 'All' under 'Shared' locations, choose the network hd, click on the folder (there's only one one the disk) and then, and only then, will the backup begin. Is there any way for it to just be able to find the folder by itself and perform the backup without my having to find the folder for it every time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used my Imac for about six months without any problems. All in a sudden it does not always reconect to my router after getting into sleeping mode (not always, but around 8 of 10 times it does not reconect). I have to click on my router that are listed among other routers that it picks up in the neighbours.
Imac is of course setup to automatically reconnect to my router in the settings.
I have restarted my router as well, and also renamed the router as well to be be sure there are no conflicts. My Router is a Thomson TG789vn

We lost our BT internet connection for a few days. BT eventually sorted it out and it was caused by a problem at the exchange.
Before this, the imac automatically connected to the internet whenever we booted up. Now it doesn't and we have to reconnect to the internet each time we boot up. I don't really know the correct way to do this, but what I am doing to connect is to open Safari which then says it can't connect and offers a diagnostics page where I can then go through a process to reconnect. Then it reconnects fine, buty the next time I boot up I have to go through the same process again.

How do I get all my subscribed podcasts to download automatically at least once each hour? A couple of weeks ago following an iTunes update, iTunes stopped automatically downloading subcribed podcasts. There is no longer a "Refresh" button that directs iTunes to download newly available episodes. I am now having to refresh individual podcasts twith a right-click command menu item.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone got Address Book/iSync working with Exchange 2003? I've followed all of Apple's steps to enable Address Book's synchronization with Exchange, and I manually force iSync to sync with Exchange.
I used to get an "iSync couldn't connect to Exchange" error, but after resetting iSync's history, now I get no error message. In my exchange server's log, I do see the entry:
2007-05-04 03:11:15 W3SVC1 10.0.0.3 HEAD /exchange/me/Contacts - 80 DOMAINme 10.0.0.19 CFNetwork/129.20 302 0 64
so it's obviously connecting to exchange, but does not populate the address book. It's pissing me off and some blog entry with a workaround at [URL] makes absolutely no sense (and only works on Panther according to the comments.. I'm running OS X Tiger).
Edit: I should also note I've tried the following:
1. Disabled SSL and tried syncing - no dice
2. Tried syncing with my OWA server at work - still no dice

I did an extensive search for this topic before posting, so I guess it's safe to ask. Are there any places where you can download other iPhoto book themes? I would really like to have more variation with the books. Or if there isn't any place to download new ones from, is there a way to make your own? I know there are Keynote themes and iDVD themes, but are there iPhoto book themes? Or are they way too complex compared to iDVD and Keynote?
