ITunes :: Organize Multiple Apple Ids?
Mar 27, 2012I forgot an old itunes password and the apple I.D. is no longer in use.

View 8 RepliesI would like to sort out all my drives and keep the organisation simple... it's recently turned into a bit of a mess after my hard drive on the iMac went into melt-down (fixed but having other issues... see other post! ) and as it had difficulty in backing up (for several months!) etc I did a mini panic of just saving my most important stuff on other drives - sometimes it would save on one drive but not other stuff so then had to use another drive etc... I have all my files etc but it's a bit of a mess... sooooooo. I have different things on different drives etc and it would be interesting to see how others organise themselves if they have multiple external drives. Which is best to use for time-machine back-ups and the other to keep all my photo's, videos and general other work on. I would like to keep my computer free of most of my work... maybe just have the current projects kept there. so far I have 53GB of photo's (I dabble in photography and work as a retoucher) I usually keep some original images and then there's the retouched or best images in separate folders. I'm studying digital media as well (BA) and while websites don't take that much space, the 3D stuff did and I've started doing stop motion animation ... then trying out different formats etc I end up with a huge amount of GB used up with .mov files (I'm new to moving images!) I have two desktop Western Digital Studios drives - 1.5TB and 500GB
I did used to just have the 500GB and kept the time-machine/backups on this disc and I recently switched this over to the 1.5TB but I'm wondering if I really need all that space just for back-ups - I can't personally see wanting a back-up from a year ago... a couple of months back maybe so should I switch my back-ups to the 500Gb drive and keep all my images/video/docs etc on the 1.5TB instead? also have 2 Western Digital portable drives - 320GB each. use one for Uni/work which means I can transfer large files to and from work computers to my home computer and I don't have to lug my macbook around ... plus the Uni doesn't have the same software versions as I do and it's easier just to take the files in rather than my laptop etc. I use one for keeping movies on - it's more convenient to keep my DVD films on the drive rather than keep taking dvd's out of the case etc... so my dvd collection is in a box on the wardrobe How do others organise themselves?
What's the Best Way to Organize Multiple Related Contacts? It may be a Couple or a Family with common Address and Phone, but different names and birthdates. Then I try to put them all in one contact listing. It may be a Large Business where you want to keep track of information about a dozen different people's address, phone, depart, title, email etc. But It still would be nice to be able to pull up one entry with all the business's information.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work in an office that is all mac based and have mac computers at home. I have an apple ID and iTunes account for personal use where I purchase books and music and I have an office apple ID and iTunes account to share calendars with colleagues using iCloud and purchase work related apps like upgrades to operating systems, etc.
I have an iPhone that is set up with my personal apple ID so that my music is on my phone and so that the photo streaming is attached to personal photos, etc. Is there a way to sync my personal contacts with my contacts that are registered with my professional apple ID? Ideally, I would like to have my iOS devices syncing my calendar and contacts with my work apple ID and my music and photos with my personal ID.

We have a Mac with separate user profiles for each family member. Each family member also has their own iTunes with their own Apple ID. When we tried to download iTunes content from the cloud to one of the profiles from their own iTunes account, we received a message that the computer was associated with a different Apple ID and if we changed the authorization, the other AppleID would be blocked for 90 days. How can we deal with this issue and have each user download iTunes content onto their own profiles on the same Mac?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I don't want to restore content from my backup with old Apple IDs (wife's old deactivated account, brother's account, etc), how do I remove that content from a backup? I skip in the restore process, but that doesn't seem to remove anything. I'm assuming the content/media from the other accounts isn't loaded. Â
I guess I'm looking to create a fresh backup with only the iTunes items associated with my account. I can't find a way to identify what media is from these other accounts in iTunes, so I keep getting this issue when I restore from a backup.

I just wiped out my xp machine and installed win7. I back everything up and iTunes was put back on and I dumped all my data back on for it. I have a mix of music from cd's and music from iTunes (purchased). I have my music all in the music folder but it's all mixed up and I can't tell which songs are actually being used in iTunes if that makes sense. So to help things, I told iTunes to copy the file into it's own folders. Then I told it to do the new folder structure, music, movies, ringtones, etc. Anyways, it seems all is well, however I can't tell which files are purchased and which are not.
If I drag a music file into iTunes, will it copy that file into iTunes and organize it? What happens if a copy already exists, will there be duplicates now? What is the best way to organize all this so I don't go insane and can clean up the mess. I am thinking of copying my backup back over to undo the recent "organization" and go from there.
I am trying to organize my iTunes library and files. I have a question about the 2 files listed below. I understand iTunes media is like the master file, but what is "my music" file and if i move files there from iTunes media/music, do i need to make a copy of these files and if i make a copy, is this creating a duplicate file taking up memory space or is this an index?Â

When transferring my iTunes library from backup to my new iMac, some of the files have lost their information and there seems to be many duplicate files.
Is there a quick and easy way to restore my library to its former glory?Â

When I first installed iTunes, I declined the option for iTunes to automatically change the mp3's file names to an organized format. For example, [windows], my 'My Music' folder is very disorganized with files that have the artist first, or just the song name, and even 01 'song name'.
Is there a way I can turn that setting back on so iTunes organizes everything for me? Or was I misinterpreting what it meant?
Im a little confused with the way itunes organizes songs. Last night I added some of my cds to itunes and I got a little confused after trying to find my songs and not being on one spot which is what I was expecting to see or at least separated by album.
Where does itunes places downloaded songs from a CD? How can I organize my songs (after uploaded) by Artist and Album? Can I create a playlist for each Artist is this the right way to do it? Can someone show me the way the music should be organized in itunes? Can someone explain how itunes organizes songs by default or direct me to where I can get the right information?
I am trying to organise my audio books in my iTunes folder. I want to do this by placing books by authors in folders collectively.

I have tons of songs in my library, iTunes did not put into a proper album. Is there a way to create an album to clean up this mess. I don't want to have to create a playlist?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have the harry potter movies 1-6 in my itunes library and they are not in order according to how they were made....like it goes the second one, then the fourth is next to it, etc..... so its organizing alphabetically which is fine....but is there anyway to organize them according to movie 1, movie2, etc.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find the easiest solution to our family music situation. 4 users, 4 devices (ipods, ipad, imac, pc laptops), and 4 different musical song interests. I'm sure there are millions of households that have the same exact situation. I want to be able to pull up only my musical library, not my kid's music, and then easily synch it to my ipod. Everyone in the family wants to do this same thing. I have spent alot of time trying to search the forums/internet and there does not seem to be one "most popular" solution. I did setup iCloud for each family member using a different Apple ID than my main Apple ID, and I'm happy that ALL the music shows up on my ipad. But between iCloud, MobileMe, Home Sharing it all gets very confusing. Some say to setup multiple computer login accounts, and others say to setup 1 playlist for each family member and synch from that playlist. Â
I would think 1 itunes account allows you to easily share a purchased song with 4 users, instead of buying songs twice.Â
So here are a few of my questions-
1-Is it best to have only 1 itunes account and then synch all devices off of 1 main computer? Â
2-Or since we each have iCloud accounts, will they be able to synch their ipods from their own pc laptop?Â
3-And when they synch, what is the easiest way to exclude other users music in itunes? (other than unchecking hundreds of artists)Â
4-Or setup 4 separate computer login accounts on the imac and then keep 1 itunes account? If so, how does this work when they open itunes? Â

I have a Mac that my wife and I share. We own and iShuffle, iPod, iTouch and two iPhones. My wife's iPhone is her own and my iPhone is through work. We only have one Apple ID and we share our iTunes. What do I need to do to make all devices work together on iTunes with relative ease? Do I need to create multiple Apple IDs? Can we link them together so we don't have to log in and out of iTunes, yet keep it so that what she does with apps / music on her phone doesn't effect what apps / music I move on my phone?Â

So here is what I'm trying to do, I've got a 160 gb of music in itunes on my macbook pro, but I need to decrease that number, b/c my I'm running out of hard drive space and my library is only getting larger. I want to have it set up so that I've got my entire library on my external hard drive (1 TB, space is not an issue), and while I'm at home I can access the entire library. However, while I'm out of the house, I'd like to only have about half of my current collection with me on my macbook pro..
I tried to set it up using the 'itunes manage multiple libraries' method, but this didn't transfer any of my ratings or playlists. Then I realized that with having these two libraries completely separate, this will be a re-occurring theme. The playlist and ratings between the two separate libraries in two separate locations, would continue to get more and more askew from each other depending on which library I'm accessing when I import new music, change ratings, or modify playlists...........
May be a very simple question to answer, but can I manage multiple iOS devices on different Apple accounts from the same iMac?Â
I ask as whilst I'm totally Mac'd, my partner who has her own Apple account has a Winows laptop and experiences problems updating iOS software on her iPhone 4S and iPad 3 Gen via the laptop. I'm thinking the problems may be overcome if we manage her iOS devices through my iMac.

I recently logged into [URL] to change my Apple ID. Everything worked fine and I was able to change and sync everything on my iPhone and iPad, except for my iMac. When I enter the Users & Groups section to change the Apple ID associated with my Admin account, it only allows me to add additional Apple IDs and delete those, but not the original Apple ID. I've tried double clicking on the original Apple ID and change it there, but it only creates a different Apple ID when I click done. Now I have multiple Apple IDs and I only want to see one.

I have a Macbook Pro and a desktop PC with iTunes installed on each with the same account. However, my iTunes purchases are not reflected the same on each computer. For example, my Macbook has two tv seasons of The Wire that does not appear on my PC iTunes. Also, there are a number of apps on my PC that I don't have on my Mac notebook. This is especially annoying as I sync my iPhone 4 most frequently with my desktop.

I write emails everyday in 3 languages and so far what i do is: in a new email, right clic to open a menu, then clic spelling and grammar / clic show spelling and grammar / choose your language / close the menu. Mac is great, there MUST be a plug in or a faster way.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have one IMAP email account and setup various email aliases. I used for each alias also a sender name. I tried to setup different sender email addresses and names in Apple Mail but did not succeed.
I was only able to add a comma separate list o email addresses to one account but not different sender names for each email address.
BTW, I also can't setup different accounts for each email address because they share the same IMAP Mail Server with the same account username and password.
My family has a macbook pro with all our music on it and a few iphones 4s's. We all want to have the same music but we all have seperate apple accounts. Is it possible to share an account for just music?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, my Apple Mail has been sending from two to six copies of email, timed to the same minute. I've taken to using Thunderbied (which I don't prefer) to avoid it. My theory is that if I can reload Lion it might cure it, but since Lion only comes as a download, I don't know how.

My Apple MBP keeps crashing on me multiple times a day. It used to be rare, now it is so frequent, it is easily reproducable. I have tried the Disk Utility and shift+ctrl+option+power btn to reset some unit. but it is not working. Is there a Mac guru that can go through the log and let me know what's wrong? I can't believe Apple makes such crappy products. I fell in love with Apple a couple of years ago and have ended up buying many Apple products, now I have started to hate my MBP I got for almost 3 grand just 2 years ago. May be this is the beginning of the end for Apple, the QA is doing nothing.
