ITunes :: Why Can't Shut The Mac Mini (Lion OS) Down After It Has Been Operated
Apr 24, 2012
I am the user of Mac mini intel i7 with Lion OS. I have to shut down the mini using the power button. This happens everytime I have use itunes 10.6.1.Why is that? and how can I fix it.
I can't restart or shut down the mini, due to "operations still in progress." How do I workaround this problem? It seems to occur after I've done a Software Update. The only way I can shut down is with the power switch.
My Late '09 Mac Mini absolutely will not shut down normally through the command. (specs in sig) I went through the command yesterday, took a nap and when I came back to the computer nearly 5 hours later it still hadn't I've fixed permissions. Is there anything I can do?
Im running a Mac Mini 2.1 on OSX. Using SMFanControl its showing me 1600-1700 rpm and a temp of 151F as i type this but spikes between 140-170F is this normal? I have to run a fan behind the computer for any kind of gaming or else it shuts down ( due to heat im sure )
When I select Sleep mode - nothing happens. Does not go to sleep. Now suddenly, when I select Shut down - the MacMini does not shut down but obviously working in a loop. I have to do a hard power down.
I have the 2.53ghz with 4gigz of Ram MacMini from Xmas 2009.A few of you know that I had been trying out different SSD's before finally jumping on with OWC 60gig SSD. I've had it for about 2 months now and it works great except I've recently been having my computer freeze and the beach ball of death appears constantly when on Safari and sometimes iMovie. After shutting down the computer manually, sometimes booting up will leave me at the grey screen for minutes before i shut it down and wait maybe 30 mins before i fire it up again, which usually works 9/10 times.
I also noticed the beach ball delaying certain processes like loading Safari or a webpage. For example, I have my OWC External hooked up via FireWire800 with just my music and videos, however occasionally if im browsing thru websites or loading a program it'll cycle the external and have the beachball as if trying to load something before proceeding. It is more an annoyance than a problem.
I ran disk utility on all my drives as well as the Apple Hardware Test CD to see if maybe my Logic Board was the problem. I did the general test as well as the indepth test, both show negative signs of a problem. Can anyone shed some light on what could be the problem?Should I put the factory drive back in and take it to Apple to run their diagnostic test?Could the SSD be failing? (I could RMA it, but didn't know if its an Apple issue vs OWC)
What can i do? itunes 7 is down... auto shut down and installer cannot work. Warning claimed that there's nothing to install and clearly shown that the size is 0 bytes. What i can do to get back itunes work and perfect?
since updating to lion i have had nothing but trouble. i had to change to use sync as i had been using mobileme. my imac would be stable for >50 days with loads of applications up and running. the best i can get now is 5 hours. the machine crashes, will not shut down (grey screen rotating bars for hours on end)
A friend's Son is being very "unproductive" with his Macbook Pro. I'll just leave it at that.
He would like to force-shutdown his Son's Mac from 10pm to 4am, so that it cannot be restarted unless an Admin uses it (my friend).

Whenever I need to shut my computer down from the apple menu it hangs. It does the same thing whenever I try to restart it. It's annoying. The only way I can get results is to physically shut it off.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), 3.06 Ghz Intel Core Duo
I have a new imac 3.4ghz - i7 with 16gbs ram that won't shut down unless I hold in the power button. I checked the Console logs but that did not give me any indication of what might be hanging it up. I also, have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8 and it has no trouble powering down.
I am running AVID Symphony which is not qualified for 10.7.4 yet so I am not going to do the update yet.
Ever since I have upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard, sometimes MacBook Pro doesn't shutdown or restart. I choose shutdown or restart it logs me out then there is the gray screen with the turning little dotted circle and it doesn't reboot or turn off, so I have to hold the power button and manually turn it off.

Is this an indication that some hardware item is needing replacing? After a shut-down I'm having to keep the power button depressed for probably up to a minute before the system comes to life.
After "upgrading" to Lion, my MacPro refuses to complete either a Restart or Shut Down cycle. How can I discover what is hanging up the process? System: MacPro1,1; 8GB RAM, OS X 10.7.3, 4x2TB internal drives, all software updates applied.
In Lion, when restarting, many apps restart as well and open up many docs, slowing startup with stuff I don't want. I have unchecked the "restore windows when quitting and re-starting" box in system preferences>general. There has been no effect. Now what?
I have added all of the updates and patches but the problem continues. It started with one application and now it's happening to others where they shut down suddenly at start-up and have to be restared and the windows restored. It's a brand new computer and wasn't doing this initially.
I can never exit mail and then I can't shut my computer. Then I have to press the button in the back of the imac but when I turn it back on mail is still on.
For some reason, every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac.
I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back.
I have a 5 year old Mac Mini running OSX 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1. The iTunes folder in the Music Folder containing Album Artwork, iTunes Library, Lib-Extras.itob, Lien-enius.itob, Mus. Library.xml is located on the INTERNAL Drive. The iTunes Music File Folder is on an external G-Drive Mini. I just purchased newest Mac Mini running Lion and iTunes 10.6. I want to move the iTunes folder and the Music File Folder from my old Mac Mini to the NEW INTERNAL Drive eliminating the external drive.
