Oct 22, 2006
What can i do? itunes 7 is down... auto shut down and installer cannot work. Warning claimed that there's nothing to install and clearly shown that the size is 0 bytes. What i can do to get back itunes work and perfect?
I have my iMac scheduled to shut down everyday at 12:30 am. Sometimes it will shut down and sometimes it won't. I've only had my iMac for about a month, but am I missing something here? Why won't it shut down automatically.
I had it scheduled to shut down at 12:30am, and I was already asleep. I woke up about 3am to get a glass of water and I checked my iMac and I was able to wake it up. What am I doing wrong, why won't it auto shut down?
I would like to know if there is any way I can set Firefox to shut down my mac once all my downloads finish? I was able to find one plug-in for Firefox that will shut down the system after downloading but it's for Windows. One more question does anyone know if this is a feature in another browser?
i recently was given a g4 desktop PPC 1.25ghz and i am trying to get it up and running. the first thing i did with it was do a complete wipe of the drive and i installed Tiger 10.4now i went and did the 10.4.11 combo update so i can be completely up to date but everytime i launch the installer it quits right after i hit continue (first screen) here is the report on it
I have OS X version 10.6.1. I run the installer, (it's for the 30 day trial) and it ays "Searching iMac 2" (my volume's name) and it stalls, and I have to force quit it. What gives? I really need to get it working, does anyone know if it's related to the installer?
Macs Console says this every time I try to update from 10.6.7 - 10.6.8 "10:08 PM Installer[244] The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." I can't update what so ever... every application basically needs to be manually installed or just comes to an unknown error either restarting the Mac or going through standalone...
When I use Firefox, I automatically get a "do you want to save" message when I close down so when I restart FF, I'm back with my same tabs, etc. Never happens with Safari. I even input ID's at websites which aren't held the next time around. Can I get Safari to act like FF when it comes to saving tabs, site Id's, and such.
I just noticed that when I start to type a URL in the URL field in Safari 5, it behaves differently than before. For example, before, if I typed "app" in the URL field and hit enter, it would automatically fill in "[URL:..] and load the site. That's because Apple's site was the only site in my bookmark list that started with "app". Now when I type "app", it fills in [URL:..] instead, because that site's DESCRIPTIVE TEXT begins "Apple, Macintosh...". So now, it assumes the letters I type in the URL bar are to help me find a site based on the "descriptive" text, instead of the actual URL text. I really hate this new behavior. I looked for an option or preference to change, but found nothing. Any of you know how to revert this behavior, or if it is even possible to do so?
I selected the auto fill password function in Safari, which works maybe 50% of the time. I believe that I am pressing "update" when I choose a new password.
When on my iMac my iTunes app will launch by itself - and after a time will start playing an audio selection, the choice of which depends on what area of iTunes was the last one I was on. Why does iTunes auto-launch? How can I stop it from auto-launching?
BTW, iTunes is the only app that does this. Not sure if this is an iMac or iTunes configuration issue.
In a previous contact software program I have used for years, the first letter of names, streets, and cities, were automatically capitalized as I typed them in. Unfortunately, that software does not work under Lion and the developer is out of business. Because of that, I am trying to convert to Address Book. I can't find the ability to have that same thing happen in Address Book. Is there something I can turn on in Preferences or some other obscure window? My old contact software also automatically filled in cities, names, or states that I previously entered. Great time saver but doesn't seem to exist in Address Book.
I don't know if this is properly autofill or autocomplete - the two overlap too much anyway so I'm not wasting brain cells trying to come up with a distinction that makes sense to non-engineers. ANYWAY. Here's the point.
I'm on my bank website. My login is xtnjohnson -- just like here. Only I mistyped it once, so in autofill/autocomplete (whichever it is), I get a little drop-down showing two options: xtnjohnson or xtnjohson.
I want to delete only the second option. I recall at sometime finding a very simple way that involved highlighting the offending entry and hitting either control-delete, shift-delete, command-delete, or function-delete, only I can't seem to get any of those combinations to work. And of course I can't find the thread anymore.
The solution did *not* involve dealing with the autofill preferences in *any* way -- I've seen that option and it doesn't help (a) because there's no quick way to find the website where the problem is occurring (my list is long), (b) even when I go through my list, I don't see my bank's url, (c) the place for entering my login appears to be in something like JavaScript, so I'm not sure it'd be tracked in one of those lists, and (d) I don't know that this is properly an "autofill" problem anyway.
When I auto size all columns or just auto size the Name column in a playlist, it gets the width of that column wrong. It's the only one where this happens, but it tends to undershoot by a few characters. It's as though it's trying to estimate how much space to leave for the Ping button -- does anyone use that button?but gets it wrong. This has been happening since 10.6 and still happens with 10.6.1.
Is this just me? Or does it happen to everyone?
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Also various iMacs
I launch iTunes manually when needed and when I open it it askes me to log in to the iTunes Store. My user name is there and I have to enter my password. Anyway to have the password there also so I don't have to enter it every time? Is there a Save Password option?
Typically in Itunes when "music" is clicked at the bottom of the songs window there is an autofill option. I no longer see that option. Where did it go? I want to change what playlist my Itouch syncs with and I can't without having access to the autofill feature.
I am a new iTunes user. I don't want to use iTunes as my default CD ripper or player. In fact, I don't want iTunes to ever start up unless I click on its icon. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way of shutting off the auto-start after inserting a audio CD. The 'When you insert a CD:' drop-down menu only has a few options and 'take no action' is not among them. So, is there any way I can shut off auto-start for iTunes after inserting a CD? I'm currently running windows Vista 64bit.
Is there a way to make iTunes auto refresh its library? I have 2 MacBooks, a Mac Pro, and a Mac Mini for an HTPC with an external 2TB drive. I have all of our music on the external drive. Plex Media Server auto-refreshes wonderfully. Just looking for a script or workflow or app or service that will automatically add my new media in my iTunes Library to the iTunes program every 24 hours or so.
Anyone know of an app to auto shut down your mac after it's done running a an iTunes playlist or letting another app run it's course? The Energy saver shut down schedule option is too rigid for me. Basically, I like to listen to a some music as I go to sleep and would love for my mac to shut itself down after it's finished with the playlist. If there isn't a program would anyone know of an applescript that would do that?
I have a lot of video files (TV & Movie) and store on a 1.5 TB drive. I have a 2 TB drive that I use for Time Machine backups and it currently backs up my iTunes library.
I'm now hitting some storage problems. My Time Machine drive is running out of space as my iTunes folder keeps growing.
I want only select episodes of some podcasts, not every single daily episode, even if I have to one by one select podcast episodes to download. Is there a way to subscribe but not automatically download all episodes? Version 10.4 or 10.5 itunes.
On iTunes, some of my podcasts are deleted after I listen to them, even though I have the settings set to avoid that? (Or rather, I did have it set to avoid that when my podcasts were set to subscribe. Now iTunes won't even let me subscribe to them, so I can't access the settings?)
