May 30, 2012Preview will not force quit. I installed a back up disk to save 3 photo's on my new computer. It has been saving the photo's for 2 days now and I can't shut it off or eject the disk.

May 23, 2012since updating to lion i have had nothing but trouble. i had to change to use sync as i had been using mobileme. my imac would be stable for >50 days with loads of applications up and running. the best i can get now is 5 hours. the machine crashes, will not shut down (grey screen rotating bars for hours on end)

Jun 3, 2012I have a new imac 3.4ghz - i7 with 16gbs ram that won't shut down unless I hold in the power button. I checked the Console logs but that did not give me any indication of what might be hanging it up. I also, have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8 and it has no trouble powering down. Â
I am running AVID Symphony which is not qualified for 10.7.4 yet so I am not going to do the update yet. Â

Jun 5, 2012Ever since I have upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard, sometimes MacBook Pro doesn't shutdown or restart. I choose shutdown or restart it logs me out then there is the gray screen with the turning little dotted circle and it doesn't reboot or turn off, so I have to hold the power button and manually turn it off.

May 10, 2009In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? Jun 25, 2012For some reason, every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac. Â
I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back. Â

Jun 30, 2012There are several discussions about how to stop Preview crashing in Lion but none work for me. However, if I create a new user, Preview is back to normal. There is also information from Apple on creating a root user, which some people have suggested as a solution but the steps shown for Lion are not replicated on my computer.Â
So- has anyone an idea why Preview works with one user and not another? how to create a root user? Â
