Jun 8, 2012My Macbook Pro will not shut off or restart. It just hangs. Incidentally the same happend with my Mac Pro.

May 23, 2012since updating to lion i have had nothing but trouble. i had to change to use sync as i had been using mobileme. my imac would be stable for >50 days with loads of applications up and running. the best i can get now is 5 hours. the machine crashes, will not shut down (grey screen rotating bars for hours on end)

Jun 3, 2012I have a new imac 3.4ghz - i7 with 16gbs ram that won't shut down unless I hold in the power button. I checked the Console logs but that did not give me any indication of what might be hanging it up. I also, have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8 and it has no trouble powering down.
I am running AVID Symphony which is not qualified for 10.7.4 yet so I am not going to do the update yet.

Jun 5, 2012Ever since I have upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard, sometimes MacBook Pro doesn't shutdown or restart. I choose shutdown or restart it logs me out then there is the gray screen with the turning little dotted circle and it doesn't reboot or turn off, so I have to hold the power button and manually turn it off.

Jun 25, 2012For some reason, every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac.
I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back.

Mar 29, 2012I have an iMac 1st Gen i5 Quad-Core with two user accounts and since the 10.7.3 update I cannot get the computer to restart or shutdown properly. It seems to happen when both users have been signed on. I log out on both accounts, shutdown (or restart) and it still hangs up. If I use just one account, it's hit and miss. No applications are hanging in the force quit menu.
