An Apple support person created a new partition on my HD to troubleshoot a problem I am having and now I am waiting for him to call me back but he never told me how I toggle back and forth from this new partition to my regular HD.

Jun 19, 2009I had a folder on my desktop that had all types of info in it. I moved that folder to my dock. Accidentilly, I dragged that folder back to the desktop, and it went poof. Is there any way to get that folder back? I have a lot of important information in it. And no, I didnt back up with Time Machine.

Nov 12, 2005My phone calls and it's my (pc-centric) friend Kasper. He's on msn with his girlfriend in Switzerland and she's panicking. She's just accidentally moved her desktop (including everything on it off course) to the trash. She's also trashed Skype (might have been on desktop?!?). And now she can't move it back out again!Unfortunately I'm not the master of Macs that Kasper hopes and I've no idea what to do about this except try to restart. Jan 30, 2009I didn't put the my documents folder in the trash can and empty the trash. I accidentally took it off the dock, so I went into Macintosh HD in order to put it back on the dock. I went under the "my places" tab and clicked and dragged the my documents tab, but I accidentally let go of the icon before it got to the dock and it disappeared. It was showing the little crumbled up piece of paper icon before it disappeared. So I don't know how to get the my documents folder back. It isn't anywhere on my desktop and it isn't in the Macintosh HD under the "my places" tab. I also don't know how to access the documents that were in there.

Sep 28, 2009If I change my desktop image, it often changes back to its previous setting next time I boot up. And- it doesn't remain constant between graphics cards either. (15" late '08 UMBP)
It changes when I connect external monitors, and it changes when I bring it home from work and boot up.
I just can't wrap my head around it. I have to change it every time I boot up, actually.

May 21, 2010I have been googling around but I can't find anything sufficient. I would like a simple way to enable a keyboard shortcut to toggle bluetooth on and off; one feature I enjoy having turned on is the option under Universal Access to disable the trackpad if an external mouse is connected. This is great when I'm at my desk, but if I move my MacBook Pro to another room it doesn't necessarily disconnect the bluetooth mouse and thus I have to go back to my desk to shut the mouse off in order to get my trackpad back again.
So a quick simple tool, like maybe fn+B or cmd+B or whatever, would be awesome.
I tried recording an Automator macro but it can't discern whether bluetooth is on already or not, plus there was a huge lag time of five seconds each time I triggered it (on top of it stealing window focus).

I know that this is normally done by the following:Display Preference Pane -> Arrangement -> Drag the menu bar to the monitor your want as primary I'm looking for a hotkey or keyboard shortcut to toggle this more quickly. My graphics apps have to bind to the primary, but I also need to send full-screen output to the primary display, thus blocking the menu bar and dock.

Oct 18, 2010I moved my documents folder to my desktop and it disappeared and then i found another folder for my documents and moved it to my dock. And then a icon for my documents ended up on my desktop. When I delete the documents folder on my desktop the format for all my .rar files change to .vlc format. And if I keep the documents on my desktop the files are alright and I'm still able to use it. I tried changing the type of format but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I can do to delete the documents folder off of my desktop and keep the format the same??

Apr 29, 2012Everytime I am in a fullscreen application, like itunes or chrome, I can stay there for about 45-60seconds and then it brings me back to the desktop. It's fine when using iTunes or something but very annoying when I'm using photoediting software or music editing. By the look of what I've seen on the desktop when this happens it's like finder is switching on and off again every minute or so because the desktop goes blank and the menu bar goes blank where it says finder and such.
