OS X V10.7 Lion :: Fullscreen Programs Go Back To Desktop After 45-60seconds?
Apr 29, 2012Everytime I am in a fullscreen application, like itunes or chrome, I can stay there for about 45-60seconds and then it brings me back to the desktop. It's fine when using iTunes or something but very annoying when I'm using photoediting software or music editing. By the look of what I've seen on the desktop when this happens it's like finder is switching on and off again every minute or so because the desktop goes blank and the menu bar goes blank where it says finder and such.

Jun 24, 2012When I start parallels, the symbol of the voice recognition program appears on the desktop. I can't remove this symbol from the desktop. Doubleclick only moves the symbol from the desktop to the dock. I checked the system setup "speech" of my mac: "voice/speech recognition" and "voice over" are deactivated. So it seems that the setups of windows XP operating system and/or parallels (working tools) are causing this. How can I remove this symbol?

Nov 13, 2009I just bought a new MacBook Pro to supplement my iMac.If I remember correctly, when I hook up a laptop to my desktop I can access it the same way I would an external hard drive? I'm wondering if it's possible to drag and drop PROGRAMS (self contained ones are obvious, but I'm talking programs like Creative Suite 4) over to my new computer? I'm guessing that certain programs that require registration will need the registrations to be re-entered? Just wondering what's the best way to transfer specific applications from my desktop to my mac. Also, Will any specific conflicts arise by transferring from Leopard to Snow Leopard? (other than program compatibility issues)

OS X :: Frozen - Finder And Desktop - Don't Have Permission To Open Certain Programs
Sep 17, 2010The Mac OS X on the system has suddenly frozen her out of everything but the finder and the desktop. It boots fine and pops up on the desktop, and everything looks completely normal. But when you want to run an application and click on it, a big fat question mark appears over the icon in the bottom menu, no matter what application you click on. Further more it appears that all applications has been wiped from the system when you enter the applications folder. It is completely empty.
Now I've tried to click on different stuff, such as the internet, to turn it off, but nothing happens. I've also tried to enter the OSX preferences, but nothing happens when I do. At times it comes up with the message that you don't have permission to open certain programs, even though the programs apparently dont exist on the Mac. I've interrogated my girlfriend about her activity, and she swears she has done nothing out of the ordinary like download shady software or anything, and apparently all of this has come like lightning from a clear sky.

Unplugged everything from my MBP (including an external display) while it was still asleep, tossed it in my back after it slept again, and headed out the door. Sep 28, 2009If I change my desktop image, it often changes back to its previous setting next time I boot up. And- it doesn't remain constant between graphics cards either. (15" late '08 UMBP)
It changes when I connect external monitors, and it changes when I bring it home from work and boot up.
I just can't wrap my head around it. I have to change it every time I boot up, actually.

Jun 18, 2012Recently I got a new MacBook Pro. I updated it to the latest version of lion. Whenever I wanted to change my desktop background, it would change immediately no problem but once I shut down or restarted my mac, it would revert back to the original background. Somewhere I read that by deleting com.apple.desktop.plist this problem could be solved. I did that and bingo it solved the problem! But since I am a newbie i would like to know is it fine to do so and what (if any) effects it could have on my mac?

Mar 25, 2010I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?

Jun 19, 2009I had a folder on my desktop that had all types of info in it. I moved that folder to my dock. Accidentilly, I dragged that folder back to the desktop, and it went poof. Is there any way to get that folder back? I have a lot of important information in it. And no, I didnt back up with Time Machine.

Jan 30, 2009I didn't put the my documents folder in the trash can and empty the trash. I accidentally took it off the dock, so I went into Macintosh HD in order to put it back on the dock. I went under the "my places" tab and clicked and dragged the my documents tab, but I accidentally let go of the icon before it got to the dock and it disappeared. It was showing the little crumbled up piece of paper icon before it disappeared. So I don't know how to get the my documents folder back. Oct 18, 2010I moved my documents folder to my desktop and it disappeared and then i found another folder for my documents and moved it to my dock. And then a icon for my documents ended up on my desktop. When I delete the documents folder on my desktop the format for all my .rar files change to .vlc format. And if I keep the documents on my desktop the files are alright and I'm still able to use it. I tried changing the type of format but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I can do to delete the documents folder off of my desktop and keep the format the same??
