I press control + shift + eject on my new imac, and the screen turns off as promised. However, most of the time, actually, almost every time -- the screen comes back on after a second or two.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought my new IMac on friday. Worked great for a day and then I had a problem. The fan came on really loud for about a good 10 secs and the screen turned off. I hit the power button and the screen came back on quickly like it had went to sleep. However, the fan came right back on very loud and the screen went black. I did this a couple times until I just let it shut down for an hour because I thought it overheated.
The next time I turned it on it worked fine for about 3 hours and suddenly the fan came on super loud. This time the screen didn't shut off and I was able to continue but it was abnormally loud. This morning I turned it on again and within a minute the fan came on AGAIN. I have to mention that I'm not using any intensive application or anything. The last time I think I only had safari up. Also, this is my first mac and it's not looking promising...
We have iMacs and Macbook pros at work but we need to connect to them from home. I am not concerned with getting a VPN connection. That part is taken care of. Problem is I need a client such as a Windows Remote Desktop Connection. Where if I connect to the Mac from home it just allows me to use the session and not take up a lot of bandwidth for screen sharing. People in the office do not need to know what project i'm working on.

I was work uns in macbook pro attached to a monitor and keyboard+mouse and suddenly it began to get slow and I noticed the battery icon in 0% but with charging status, after that it turned off and I couldn't turn it on again... I let it charge but the charging bar on the side keeps blinking the first led and do not charge further.
Did I lose my battery? My motherboard is dead? I made the same and the charger light responded as it was normal.

So last night I was using my laptop (Macbook Pro early 2011, not fully sure) when it completely shut off. I press the power button and nothing happens. I have tried unplugging the battery from the logic board and then plugging it back in, but nothing happens. Checking the battery status and it doesn't seem anything unusual, the LEDs light up from left to right then fade out. When I plug in the charger I get the amber light, then when I press the power button it turns green for a little bit then goes back to amber. No fan or anything. Was wondering what it might be?
Another question, the inside of my mac is kinda dirty, could that have anything to do with it? Like it caused its own form of static electricity?

This is a strange issue I have had with my Macbook Pro for a while now. Whenever I am in a situation where I am only using my computer for say, listening to music purposes, I like to turn the brightness all the way down. Whenever I turn the brightness all the way down, however, after a few minutes it will go back up 1 pip of brightness on its own. Once I come into contact with the trackpad, however, it goes back down. Then it will go back up 1 pip on it's own again, and go back down when I touch the trackpad. It continues to do this and it's quite annoying.

I almost dropped my wireless keyboard. I pressed some random buttons and a screen appeared like with all my TV Shows, Movies, Music, Etc. How do I get back to it? It looks cool. It's sort-of like Windows Media Center. It's not iTunes btw.

yesterday i left a file download in firefox for 5 hours then went back to check on it , it was working FINE, Then i got Back after 2 minutes and the screen is suddenly white and not showing anything i shut down the laptop and restarted , there was a chime and just white screen...i connected the laptop to an external monitor AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING on the external screen but the laptop screen is white!
how do I get Safari back to full screen ...not sure what I did but it is only at 1/2 screen size.

I was just watching a video on Youtube and then all of a sudden my entire machine freezes, and it logged out me out completely to the main login screen? There was that tiny loading rotate logo in the screen also. What could have caused this?

I held the power button for several seconds until it turned off, and then turned it back on. Everything was ok until I went to configure the screen savers. As soon as I picked the first one, the preview screen turned gray, and the wheel started spinning. I used force quit on it, and tried loading a different screen saver, and same thing happened.

Literally the whole display bounces constantly, revealing a white line at the top of the screen (as if trying to center the screen or something). This is on the LCD- haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I just had my logic board replaced about 4 months ago for a faulty 8600GT chip- I'm so hoping it's not that.

I'm desperately trying to get my 3 year old macbook to cooperate - it operates fine although it has been very slow lately but occasionally it will freeze and flash a blue screen, then either just remain frozen or shut down. When I try to turn it back on, it responds as normal, but as the desktop, wireless bars, etc start to load, the pinwheel comes up and then the screen flashes blue, and the whole process of loading the desktop starts over. This repeats endlessly until after turning on and off a few times and waiting about ten minutes it will finally turn back on- something is clearly up and I'm afraid I am going to lose data.

I've been using my computer like I normally do this morning. I was listening to iTunes on it and noticed it was acting a little slow and glitchy. When I went to get back on my computer I opened it up and nothing showed on the screen, it was all black. However the little white light is shining so I know it's on. I've only had my Mac for a little over a year now and have never had this problem before.
