View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm an idiot, pleased to meet you.I had 2 external drives connected to my Macbook Pro, both had time machine back ups on...I meant to delete one of these but deleted the wrong one, and dragged it into Trash. On realising my mistake I tried to drag it back out of Trash, as you would normally but after "preparing to copy" for four hours it told me the drive was full...It's a 500gb drive, and the Time Machine back up is the only thing on it, so presumably it's just trying to copy itself when the back up is still present on the drive, albeit in the Trash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve had a 13" macbook pro since July and im pretty sure it's the newest version. Not once has the keyboard lit up, i didn't even know that the keys lit up on macbook pros until i saw my friend's do it. do some macbook pros not have keyboard back lights or is mine just messed up?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo a friend spilled some liquids on his new macbook pro 13 5,5.Unibody The keyboard no longer worked, the hd was fried, so he gave it to me and switched to PC's . I replaced the HD, and connected an external keyboard.
Luckily nothing else was effected and it powered up. What I find strange is that the back light still works although NONE of the keys do. The power button and the trackpad still work as well.
I have accepted that I have to purchase a costly top case, but could i not just replace the keys?
My Macbook pro's keyboard is acting abnormal. They are not as bright as they should be, some are brighter than the others.Already tried to resetting the SMC setting. No luck at all.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook, I have just become aware that the light for power on isn't on, nor does it pulsate on standby. Everything else seems to be working normally, so I can live with this. But could this be a symptom of precursor of a more serious problem elsewhere?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to install XP on boot camp and I accidentily installed it on the wrong partition, so the drive that had leopard on it is now formatted to NTFS and I cannot format it back. I beleive all my data is still on because there is a lot of used disc space. I want to convert it back to HFS without the loss of data, as I have important information on the hard drive that I do not want to lose. I know this is my own fault because I wasn't paying close enough attention to where I was installing Windows
View 3 Replies View RelatedSeagate Free Agent drives, I couldn't find a post among the hundreds readily and I need sleep. Last night, my drive stayed on, lights and all, all freaking night long. I turned off my Mac, but nothing changed. The light stayed on. It was like living in an apartment above Time Square on New Year's Eve. I finally unplugged the damn thing. I was hoping it would fix itself overnight, but it didn't. It seems to be doing a good job of backing up with time machine, but the *(^%$ light won't turn off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.

Info:iMac, MacOS X (10.5), Happened after upgrading iTunes.
I was work uns in macbook pro attached to a monitor and keyboard+mouse and suddenly it began to get slow and I noticed the battery icon in 0% but with charging status, after that it turned off and I couldn't turn it on again... I let it charge but the charging bar on the side keeps blinking the first led and do not charge further.
Did I lose my battery? My motherboard is dead? I made the same and the charger light responded as it was normal.

I press control + shift + eject on my new imac, and the screen turns off as promised. However, most of the time, actually, almost every time -- the screen comes back on after a second or two.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo last night I was using my laptop (Macbook Pro early 2011, not fully sure) when it completely shut off. I press the power button and nothing happens. I have tried unplugging the battery from the logic board and then plugging it back in, but nothing happens. Checking the battery status and it doesn't seem anything unusual, the LEDs light up from left to right then fade out. When I plug in the charger I get the amber light, then when I press the power button it turns green for a little bit then goes back to amber. No fan or anything. Was wondering what it might be?
Another question, the inside of my mac is kinda dirty, could that have anything to do with it? Like it caused its own form of static electricity?

Basically, for login pages (such as facebook) my mac used to auto complete my login name, much like it auto completes a url i have previously visited when i go to type it in. It started doing this spontaneously a couple of days ago. How do i turn it back on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI remember back, long, long ago in the elementary school days when we had the colored Macs - you turned them on by pressing spacebar. Now I would actually like that with my Mac Pro so that I don't have to bend over to turn it on. Does this option still exist in Mac OS?

This is a strange issue I have had with my Macbook Pro for a while now. Whenever I am in a situation where I am only using my computer for say, listening to music purposes, I like to turn the brightness all the way down. Whenever I turn the brightness all the way down, however, after a few minutes it will go back up 1 pip of brightness on its own. Once I come into contact with the trackpad, however, it goes back down. Then it will go back up 1 pip on it's own again, and go back down when I touch the trackpad. It continues to do this and it's quite annoying.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a newer version of the bootcamp drivers for the 2010 mbp? The keyboard backlight still can't be completely shut off on 2008-9 mbp's without using a third party utility. Does anyone know what's going on? Can this feature be enable on the 2009 mbp's?
View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday I had a Leopard software update which included new keyboard firmware. I did the update and the keyboard continued to function normally. This AM I booted my MacBook Pro and discovered the keyboard no longer responds to inputs. However, the MB does responds to an external USB keyboard.
Now I don't know if I have a sudden hardware problem or the MB keyboard is not working as a result of the firmware update. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Can I go back to the earlier revision of the keyboard firmware?
Hmmm - while writing this I just realized I have a bootable image of my system made a few week back on an external drive - I'll have to try it.

I have a new 2012 Macbook pro 17 and a 27 inch thunderbolt display.
The Macbook was working great. Then I connected it to the thunderbolt display and did clamshell mode. That worked well too. But.. then I powered down the macbook, disconnected the thunderbolt dislplay and tried to boot back up again. The mac book powers on, the back light comes on, I hear the chime then that is it. The back light stays on nothing else happens. Resetting the PRAM can not be done. Any of the boot options are ignored. It is like the keyboard is non resposive. I tried all the reset and boot combinations available but nothing works.
The light on the front of the macbook comes on then goes dim. The apple logo on the lid stays lit, and if I close the lid, the apple logo goes dim and the light on the front lights up. Weird, it is almost like it goes to sleep when it turns on. I tried conntecting the thunderbolt again but no joy. I am really disappointed. This is less than a month old and its already going in for repair. It should be replaced.
