i am currently on my imac 5.1 intel core 2 duo 2.16ghz. my 2 year old son managed to change my screen into negative color this includes everything from start up picture to screensaver to photo booth to skype etc etc etc. i have tried everything to get my screen back to normal and can't do it hoping you have any idea on how to fix this

I opened up system prefs to calibrate my screen for the first time so you will need to go to 'Displays' then 'Color' then 'Calibrate' on the side.
It will open up a few tests and when finished make a new display profile, when your done constantly switch between your original profile and the calibrated one (imac calibrated).
You will see a huge difference in enhancement of the screen color lighting and adds more texture, you should look at your wallpaper when switching I chose the snowy mountain wallpaper from snow leopard and it really improved a lot.
After my 27" i7 wakes up from a long sleep (roughly over 1.5 hours), something very odd goes on with my color profile and/or screen. Approx. 5 second or so after waking, the screen color appears to wash out quite a bit. You certainly have to be quick to notice it, but something is definitely going on.

What is happening to my computer. This is the 2nd time it does this: all of a sudden the screen becomes black with reverse fluo colors.
I have to force quite with the push button & restart it. I repaired the permissions & restarted it. It's working again, but I am wondering if I have an alien in it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt seems that in his nasty habit of taking naps while resting a body part on the keyboard, he has managed to press some obscure key combination that has inverted the colors on my screen (like a color photograph negative). I've searched everywhere to try to revert this, but had no luck so far. When I restart, and/or log out and back in again, the screen is normal during the booting sequence till I choose the account I want to log in with, then it immediatly goes into "x-ray" mode. If I choose another account, it will boot and log in with no screen problem whatsoever. So this must be either a preference option has been changed via keyboard command or the account is corrupted. Right?

suddenly my screen color changed to negative/black on white. but when i inverted the screen did not back to normal quality. the trace or shadows remains when i move the window. when i log out it turns again to negative form. and when i log in it seems back to normal. but it does not have the same quality and sharpness.

I am having monitor problems with it, the monitor has a slight red color on the right side and if there is a light colored box on the screen I get almost a run effect going to the right. This happens in OS X Tiger with all the updates, OS 9.2.2. I also have all the firmware updates, an external monitor looks great.

It was nothing more than a cool, little screen alteration that makes the screen go negative. I tried it after first getting my Mac. Just this past week, I tried to do it again and it is not working. Not that it is a serious issue however it is more of a curiousity why it stopped. Did some application I installed on my machine cause this feature to halt? Just curious if anyone has the answer. I tried disabling Shades, Growl and even turned off my power settings to see if that was interfering.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy room mate turns on his computer and the screen is fine. After about 15 miuntes the screen image basically goes negative for a minute or so. After that little pixels begin to rain down until the entire screen is pixelated. When it is pixelated I can use an external monitor to view my desktop perfectly, which eliminates the graphics card as the issue in my opinion.

If the original restore discs are lost, what methods are there to restore a Mac back to it's original state (with HDD's wiped). Is it possible to get a set of restore discs from somewhere? Do restore discs from other Macs of the same model work fine? Or will SL need to be bought, upgraded and then wiped after that (I'm hearing SL is actually a full version, so by upgrading and then booting into it again, you can do an erase and install)
Is there a mac equivalent to the PC procedure of reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the original operating system to get back its original performance?

before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i want to change my folder icons back to their original state, I found a set online with the default leopard icons in PNG format and I tried copying and pasting in the get info screen like you normally would but all i get is that white little preview sheet as the image (see attached screenshot)
I then found out all the original icons are saves in the resources folder so i tried those both in ICNS format and converted one to PNG but still no dice.
Lately I've been messing around with changing a lot of the standard Mac OS X icons like the "Macintosh HD", "iPod", and "Downloads" icons. If, for some reason, I decide to revert back to the original icons.
