My mic isn't picking up sound on my iMac, but it works on any other computer i use it on.I have multiple USB Microphones and they all have the same problem. They seemed to be working a couple days ago.

My external mike (Samson C01U, USB connection) isn't working; there's no input sound coming through.I'm certain it's not a hardware problem with the mikeOn preferences > sound, there's no sign of any input (with input volume level turned right up). I have a Bose speaker system connected to my Audio Out port of my mid-'10 Macbook Pro but I can no longer control the volume: System Preferences has the sound controls set to the maximum but the sound output is weak and the microphone icon at the top of the display is grayed out (but shows it at maximum when I click on it). Apparently, then, the sound is only coming out of the laptop. How do I get it to go out of the audio out port through my Bose Companion 2 and be adjustable?

I want to make a script that adjusts the output volume of my mac based on the volume that the mic hears. I am not very good with applescript, but I do know how to control the volume. I was wondering if there was a command that retrieved the input level from the mic as it is show in the sound preferences in the system preferences window.

I can feed sounds into my iMac with line input but no sound comes out vis internal speakers. I can record the input sound using Amadeus and play through gives me sound output. When not using Amadeus although input is set to line in and output to internal speakers no sound comes out. There appears to be some internal disconnection between input and output.

I had been having trouble reading any disks at all and sat down to try and fix it, when I looked more into it i noticed a few errors that kept popping up. When I insert any disk it reads for a bit and then just ejects. When i try and look for the disk utility there is no optical drive there.
When i open CDs and DVDs "You can’t open the “CDs & DVDs” preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time. To see this preferences pane, you may need to connect a device to your computer." In system information - disk burning it says "No disc burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it’s connected and turned on." When inserting a movie DVD and opening DVD player "A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]

I have an iMac 21.5" Late 2009 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo 2. OS X 10.9.4. All of a sudden my iSight is no longer recognized. There is no open application using it. It does not show up in the System Profilier.
Some people suggest to zap the PRAM but I can't even get my computer to do that. It only chimes once and then stars up normally even though I am holding down the option/command/P/R keys.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a $2000 27 Inch Imac and a few weeks later the microphone quit working and Apple is ignoring the problem and will not stand behind this new imac, anyone else having the same problem. I talked to a repair guy who said you can expect problems from an Imac because all of its parts are cheap made in china, he has encountered a lot of issues with the new Imacs.

I bought a used iMac from a seller on ebay. Everything works perfect, iSight camera is excellent. I tried recording a video and it worked, when I played it back it had no sound at all. I already tried going to system preferences and changing it to built-in microphone. I also reset the PRAM. I don't know what else to do!!
It has the version 10.6.8 installed, I don't know if that has anything to do with the mic not working.

I set up my refurb imac 24" 2.8ghz and discovered several horizontal grey and white bands on the screen during start up. It's not as noticeable on a photo background but is there when using a web browser with a white background.

I was told at the apple store that the Mac Mini port only exports and that the only way to watch TV on the iMac is through the Internet. Does anyone know for sure?

Recently my machine has started spontaneously switching back to the standard U.S. keyboard -- distracting, to say the least, when I suddenly get weird windows opening or gibberish appearing in documents. This has happened in both Mail and Mellel (a 3rd-party word processor) so far. I can't find anything about this problem in the forums; how to re-stabilize my choice, or how to investigate it further?
