Intel Mac :: Microphone Not Working When Using FaceTime Or Record Something
Jun 21, 2012
Whenever I try and facetime or record something the microphone isn't picking up anything but I have a look on system preferences and sound and the microphone is working perfectly but not when I try to do something else!
Just want to record voice with my built in iMac microphone...guidance? Eventual goal is to use audio voice track for FCE, but want to lay down an audio track for a placeholder to measure length (time) and make some queues. Garage Band or something else.
Info: iMac 27 i5 Mid 2010, Mac OS X (10.6.8), FCE 4.0.1 Nikon D90
I just bought a $2000 27 Inch Imac and a few weeks later the microphone quit working and Apple is ignoring the problem and will not stand behind this new imac, anyone else having the same problem. I talked to a repair guy who said you can expect problems from an Imac because all of its parts are cheap made in china, he has encountered a lot of issues with the new Imacs.
I have a 17" Macbook Pro from Jan 2012 and I can't get an external microphone to work. Initially I tried a cheap Sony microphone with no luck. So purchased logitech headphones. They have 2 jacks, one headphones, one microphone. I've tried it with Word for Mac and Quicktime (selecting line-in)
How do you get ANY microphone to work in facetime with mac mini ? I have tried plug in mics on mic input, a bluetooth headset and there is no sound..I can hear and see other party, they can see but cant hear me. Bluetooth headset is working fine on my phone and registers sound in system preferences.
I'm looking for a command line utility (Audacity isn't scriptable as far as I know) to record from line-in or microphone to just raw audio (like .wav file). Does anyone know of any free tool that would do this?
i have just bought a IMac 21.5 but my FaceTime is not working. i have a IPad 2 and IPhone 4 and they both work fine? ( it says that my network connection is not working properly but it is??:/
My nephew is the cutest thing ever and occasionally I facetime with his mother (my cousin) and he'll occasionally leave messages for me. I plan to record these short moments via facetime but so far there really isn't a proper app to do it except for using screen video capture and the only good one I found was imcapture but I find it very pricey. Is there any way for me to record facetime besides pointing a camera at the screen/screen capture/imcapture?
Mic doesn't seem to work at all. On Skype or on Sound Recorder that comes with Windows XP. I have done a lot of searches on the net and tried a lot of advice offered including some from this forum - reinstall driver, tick boxes, until boxes, scale up, etc. Its a 2008 iMac with XP SP3 installed on Snow Leopard. the driver is from Realtek. I have an important meeting to do on skype while having to run Windows application.
I have iMac mid 2008 and I've been using it with Vista before for gaming a lot, but have just installed 7 instead and everything would be great if my microphone doesn't stop working Actually the system can see it but there is no record at all on any recording level. I never had any issue with XP or Vista, and on S-Leopard it still working, so my question is -Have anyone here experienced any problem like this and is there a way out? I tried re-installing BootCamp 3.0, installing Vista's 2.1 Bootcamp drivers instead and also tried the Realtek's drivers from their site -
So the internal microphone on my 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro just decided to stop working a few months ago. In the sound tab of system preferences I get nothing. Although when Skyping with it, the person I'm talking to says they can hear some kind of noise when I tap the left speaker (where I assume the mic is at.) I didn't use it all that much but it was pretty handy for when I needed to record a spontaneous song with my guitar. It had rather good quality.
Yesterday I bought the steel series 7H gaming headset (no USB external soundcard included) to game in hardcore pro Korean mode on my mac once in a while, but when I try to connect it to windows 7 (under bootcamp), I get no input from the microphone! The headphones do work, but the mic doesn't. I have a 2010 15" i5 macbook pro. I have reinstalled all the cirrus and realtek drivers, and nothing. The mic connects via line-in. headset webpage: [URL]
i have this headset (without USB connector): [URL]and a adapter that allowes unifies the two 3,5mm connectors (3 pin) to a single 4 pin connector.under mac os x everything works fine: headset and microphone work excellent.but other situation under windows: only headphones work, external microphones don't.
so i bought an imic since i heard it was suppose to work.i plug in my microphone jac into the IN, switch the imic thing to mic, and my microphone still doesn't work.
My facetime was working fine until recently it asked for a login and this time when I did login with my Apple id, it prompted for email verification. However it is not able to complete the verification and keeps giving the following error message : Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again.
I have checked the support forums and they all point towards preferences. Problem is that the preferences option for face time is grayed out and I am not able to use them.Â
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I had installed the FaceTime app in my MBP (OS X 10.6.8) sometime back. But the mic isn't working with the FaceTime app. i am able to see and hear what others speak but the person on the other end is not able to hear me.Â
I have a early 2011 macbook pro running os x lion 10.7.3 and my camera will not work when i open facetime it says ' there is no connected camera' i have searched all over the forums and internet to find a solution but none of them have worked. i know its not a hardware issue as the camera works if i switch to a different user and also works if someone calls my facetime the camera will load up. problem is the same with photobooth etc.
When I open facetime, the camera doesnt come on. It just opens with a black screen and the camera logo with a slash through it. I cant open the preferences to fix anything in it
FaceTime is not working on Mac Air version 10.9.4. Was working fine before. When logging in with Apple ID it will not Verify. Seems like it is corrupt. I can't reinstall app because when I throw it in the trash I get a message "FaceTime can't be modified or deleted because its required by OS X".
I have a problem with the new beta of FaceTime for Mac. Right now, all I can do with it is display a window of my webcam. I can't click on Preferences in the menu bar and I also notice that "Sign Out" is grayed out. I haven't entered an Apple ID because I wasn't prompted for one. I have recently checked Apple Software Update and I have all updates installed. I also have OS X 10.6.4 installed.
Just installed Lion on my iMac and FaceTime isn't working. It says 'Failed Connection' when I dial one of my contacts, but wifi is on an everything else is working.
After chatting on FaceTime on my MacBook pro for approximately 5-7 minutes, the other person cannot hear me. I went to Apple and they said it may be the actually mic/camera connection and would have to replace it. I can't lose a week without my MacBook!
I am getting the message "Your Apple ID "xxxx" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time. It was working fine and all of sudden it became inactive . It is working on my Ipad.
My messages and FaceTime calls will not work on my macbook air. I am using OS X Mavericks 10.9.4. why these will not go to my computer anymore? They used to work just fine and appear in my notifications on both my macbook and iPhone and now only go to my iPhone.
