Aug 22, 2014command-option-apostrophe does not work in Apple Mail for me (Mail 7.3, OS 10.9.3). This is the keyboard shortcut used to decrease the quote level of a quoted line in a Mail message. In other words this is the keyboard shortcut for the menu item:Â
Format --> Quote Level --> DecreaseÂ
It hasn't worked for me since at least 10.8. Are others having this problem or do I need to dig more deeply through system extensions, looking for some kin of conflict?

OS X :: VLC Sound Output - How To Adjust
Aug 14, 2009I recently bought an ACD which I hook up to my MacBook. I watch videos and movies on it late at night so instead of playing it through the speakers I prefer to play it through headphones so I don't keep everyone up.
This works great with iTunes. I plug them into my MacBook and off I go. For VLC, however, it STILL plays the audio through the speakers even though my headphones are plugged in.
How do I change it so the audio plays through the headphones when plugged in using VLC instead of the speakers. (Jeez, you'd think this would be basic functionality. >_>)
MacBook Pro :: Sound Level Microphone Icon Is Grayed Out
Sep 2, 2014I have a Bose speaker system connected to my Audio Out port of my mid-'10 Macbook Pro but I can no longer control the volume: System Preferences has the sound controls set to the maximum but the sound output is weak and the microphone icon at the top of the display is grayed out (but shows it at maximum when I click on it). Apparently, then, the sound is only coming out of the laptop. How do I get it to go out of the audio out port through my Bose Companion 2 and be adjustable?

Aug 23, 2009Just got a new MBP 15" AG this week and was wondering if you can adjust the sensitivity of the keyboard backlight. It seems to come on even in a fairly well lit room and I mainly only need it in a completely dark room. So I find myself hitting the backlight keys to turn it off and then whenever it wakes from sleep goes back to full bright. Didn't find anything in the keyboard preferences and found a program called Lab Tick which will take care of the level on wake.

Jun 2, 2014This situation began when I put my Imac on sleep. After, the screen turned on in black whit the cursor but I couldn't do anything.
Then to rebooted the machine, the apple logo and sound began fine but the screen turned off, so moving the mouse the screen turned on in black with cursor.Â
I'd tried many ways, resetting the PRAM, SMC, repairing the disk and permission, analyzing hardware, repairing fsck files.
Suddenly, when I entered in Verbose mode, mi imac brought into user choose screen and worked fine, but when I shut down and tried to start my mac in the next day, it didn´t work again.Â

Sep 2, 2014This has just started happening a few days ago. I think it has something to do with bluetooth. Every time I have to restart my iMac, the mouse and keyboard freeze. I work around this by unplugging the mouse from the keyboard and plugging it into one of the usb ports on the back of the imac. I used to have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I'm typing on it now because the regular wired keyboard no longer seems to work at all now. I think the bluetooth setting sin system preferences which are all checked, may have something to do with this but not sure. Everything else on the machijne is fine. How can I set things so that I can use my wired keyboard?

But how do I customise the 'open file' window. Every time I open a file I have to increase the size of the window, change the view and then look for my files.... is there a way to set the default view to what I would wish it to be?Â

Mar 11, 2009My desk configuration for my imac includes a keyboard tray. I am contemplating just not using it, however it really does put the keyboard in a more natural place for me to sit correctly. If I want to use the wired keyboard though, I will obviously need some type of usb extension. I have read these came with the old keyboards, but they don't come with the new ones. Does anyone know where I can find one that is compatible with the aluminum keyboard? Would the extenders that came with the old Mac keyboards work (in case i can find one on ebay or something)?
