Jul 1, 2014I saved a Garageband file to iCloud and now most of the tracks are missing. Where did they go?
View 1 RepliesI saved a Garageband file to iCloud and now most of the tracks are missing. Where did they go?
View 1 RepliesI have been looking all over the place on the internet, including youtube in how to use garageband to record my singing voice over karaoke instrumental tracks to do a final recording.
I have the mic and the interface. Any internet link i've missed? Any information out there? I really appreciate your reply.
Tried a search but was tough to wade through the many threads - so forgive me if this is an oft-asked question:I record continuous DJ mixes straight from vinyl records -> mixer -> macbookpro running garageband. I do all of my mixes in one take and no post-processing or anything like that. So my technical production skills are lacking, to say the least. However, I can't stand the one and half hour long single track.
Is it possible to add track markers and track names within garageband - but do so in a way that no gaps are between songs - then export the whole thing as a file for download (or, rarely, burn to a CD)?This way, the listener can skip around to their favorite song, or listen to the whole thing with no gaps to ruin the "journey"
One of my tracks from a downloaded album is missing. Can't find the original file anywhere. Is it possible to redownload?

In preferences you could choose which format itunes converted your library too. This option appears to have disappeared.

i'm having trouble assigning MULTIPLE pieces of album art to MULTIPLE tracks SIMULTANEOUSLY. i see that i can add multiple arts to a single track by:
.. selecting a single track by highlighting -> get info -> artwork tab
.. selecting and playing a single track (so that the speaker icon appears to the left of the track in the playlist; paused or not) -> dragging artwork into the artwork pane in itunes; artwork gets added only to the track with the speaker icon regardless of which track(s) are highlighted. if there is existing artwork, new art gets added (does not replace old art).
also, adding a single piece of art to multiple tracks can be done by: selecting tracks by highlighting -> get info -> info tab -> artwork field (note: artwork FIELD within info TAB of 'get info' dialog, not artwork tab).....................
The NAS containing my iTunes media crashed. I have been able to recover about two-thirds of the tracks directly from the original disks. Luckily the iTunes library file is still intact, so I know what is still missing.Â
There were about 10000 more tracks to recover :-(Â I am currently ripping them all back in. However, I have the problem that when I click on a track which is missing from the media, iTunes spends an interminable time (about a minute) trying something (the rotating beachball spins) before reporting that it cannot access the IP address of my dead NAS. I now have a new NAS with a different IP address. As far as I know, I have deleted all references to the old NAS (in Finder, using Remove from Connect to Server...). iTunes is using the new NAS for storing its media data.Â
How is it that iTunes keeps referring to the old IP address? What must I do to make it stop doing this?Â
So I reinstalled osx with the two disks that came with mac. I have everything in the iLife suite but garageband & iWeb.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA week ago I had to format my HD and reinstall Leopard last week. When I restored from my external HD afterward, I just clicked and dragged back the files and folders that I wanted instead of completely restoring the drive. I put Garageband back in my Apps folder. It didn't work when I opened it (something about an instrument library being invalid, what ever.). So I reinstalled iLife 09 from the disc, and now Garageband opens properly.
The problem is that there are no (0) instruments in the library now, nor any loops. I know that normally there's an update available from Software Update that's about 1.1gb and includes all of the instruments and loops, but that update isn't appearing in the list. Anyone know what I can do? If someone can point me to a download/Rapidshare/torrent/Anything of that update, or even a functional instrument library?
I am using Mail from my 15", late 2012, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 MBP running Maverick OSX 10.9.5 with 16 GB memory. I have 4 mail accounts with approximately 30 folders. Everything has worked fairly good the past year, with a bump here and there. Suddenly today nearly all mail in these folders has disappeared. There are a few folders that have retained all their mail, however the majority is gone. Is there a remedy or is it gone? Rebuild has done no good.

As you can see I have lost the ability to create a ringtone in Garageband, was this a nerf in a update I missed? I'm using Garageband 3.0.5 (104.10) and iTunes 8.1.1 (10). Does anyone else have the same problem? I'm away from another Mac to check its not just a one off anomaly.

I have a number of tracks on both an artists album and again on a compilation album, not to mention greatest hits. (eg Today by Smashing Pumpkins on both Siamese Dream and again on Triple J Hottest 100, Vol. 2). I know it's a little OCD, but I like having the tracks available through both albums on iTunes (depending on my mood, I'll put the album on or go for a Triple J Mix). Even so, I'd like to decrease the 4.82GB worth of duplicates somewhat. If there is a way to do this automatically, that would be great, but I doubt it. There is also, of course, the risk of deleting album releases in favour of Live recordings or vice versa to consider in this.Â

I export multiple .mov files with certain video stream and mpeg layer 2 audio stream inside, using MPEG Streamclip/VLC/FFMpegX. However it turns out that the sound part is not playbak correctly inside QT player. Is QT player not supposed to playback this kind of file? BTW, I'm on OSX 10.7.3, Quicktime player is version 10.1.Â

My Garageband files are huge (10 minutes songs, 20 tracks...). Â
I backed them up to iCloud. I just want to know if it is safe to delete them from my Mac? If I'm not currently working on the particular song, it doesn't make sense to store it on my computer. Â
Is this safe to do? I just want to make sure I don't lose anything. I guess I can always download (save it to my computer) again from iCloud, or connect to iCloud from another Mac if this one died? Â
I just remember when Apple first introduced Garageband, I tried to backup all my songs and a lot of the data/tracks got lost in the process.

My iTunes library shows empty ratings and dates played for tracks that iMatch marks as eligible. I haven't downloaded any of them yet. Can I restore this data after downloading? Or is it a regrettably inevitable part of the process? I use iTunes 10.6.1 on a late '08 MBP with OS 10.6.8.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a limit on the size or length of an audio file that Garageband can import?
I have an Apple Lossless file over five hours long in iTunes. When I try to drag it into Garageband, it acts as though it is importing, but then tells me the ".aiff file is empty". But if I play the file in Quicktime, iTunes and in the iTunes section of Garageband, it plays fine.
I have a question about photostream. Is it true that ALL photos in my photo stream are permanently saved in iPhoto (even without me moving into events which i would probably do twice a month)? If the event i can't move photo's from the photostream in iphoto to events, are they ALWAYS saved on my mac drive even there there is a 1000/30 day limit in photostream?

On my iMac I created a PDF of a PowerPoint deck (File>Print>PDF) and Saved it to Documents on my iMac. I found that the PDF was saved to iCloud.
But I could not find iCloud using Finder on my iMac. I had to go to TextEdit where I have a choice of iCloud or On My Mac in the file listing. Nothing like this on Finder on my iMac. I had to go to TextEdit to delete this pdf in iCloud.
This happened 2x to the same PowerPoint file - saving to iCloud. How do I use Finder to go to files in iCloud?I created a test Excel file in the same fashion and it saved to my Documents folder on my Mac.
Why is the PointPoint deck PDF being saved to iCloud and not to my iMac?
