Is there a limit on the size or length of an audio file that Garageband can import?
I have an Apple Lossless file over five hours long in iTunes. When I try to drag it into Garageband, it acts as though it is importing, but then tells me the ".aiff file is empty". But if I play the file in Quicktime, iTunes and in the iTunes section of Garageband, it plays fine.
If I make a file on gurageband, how do I turn it into a itunes file, I've saves it, then changes it to like. ".mp3" but that only saves my vocals, and I want to save the whole song. (with beats, etc.)

When I'm trying to import it, iCal asks me in which calendar but when I click OK, i get the following error:
iCal can't read this file. there are no activities added... (or something like that, i translated it from dutch).
Whenever I import a 720x480 mp4 file to Final Cut Express I have to render it. And whenever I add an effect to a clip I have to render again. Is there a way to stop this?

I have a variety of operations that would become immensely easier to do if I could create a CSV file, for example, in Excel or Open Office and then just import that into iCal, rather than sit there and type each item individually.I have both event data and tasks that I need to do bulk imports for.
I've searched high and low and most of what I find involves importing CSV into other applications and then exporting it to VCal files before finally bringing the data into iCal.There has to be a simpler way.

get video recorded from my cell phone (motoroala Hint) imported into imovie so I can edit the video and merge clips. The file extension of the video file is .3g2 . Quicktime will play this video, but imovie apparently does not support it. I have found a number of different video apps by searching forums (iskysoft imedia converter, handbreak, mpeg streamclip, applemacsoft video converter) of which only iskysoft imedia converter does what I want to do. The only problem is the trial version does not convert audio and has "evaluation copy" imprinted into the video. The full version costs $50

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust found this and it works really well even on snow leopard. And best of all it's free. [URL:....] I just donwloaded some free patterns to try it out here. [URL:...] Import zip file and activate. Takes 2 seconds. Now if I can only have my old rainbow back that would be nice. I guess that will be the next test to make my own and see if it works. If I extract a pattern and right click and say compress. It also imports. So it works just as the original. So it shouldn't be too hard to make my own designs and rezip them. I just don't remember what info.plist does or how to edit that if I use my own design.

I sent my files from my PC to a MAC in mp4 format. However, I cannot open the files with quicktime (only with VLC) and I cannot figure out how to edit the videos using iMovie because iMovie will not let my import them.

An issue arose today with our new MacPro/FCPX/SNS EVO SAN combo.
When importing media from a portable drive using FCPX in “copy files” mode, with the Library’s media folder residing on the SAN, FCPX imports but does not copy the media. The clip appearing in the browser is still linked to the original file.
If the clip is of a codec that can be optimized and the option in the import window is ticked, only the optimized media is copied to the SAN volume.
Renders work, writing to a dedicated NAS volume, Exports work too, writing to another dedicated Exports NAS volume.
I am stumped. I have never seen FCPX behave this way. The strange thing is that at no time does it indicate any problem with the copying process not succeeding…
Because the optimized media is created on the volume I would imagine this is probably more of an OS/FCPX issue but I don’t know enough about the processes in the mac to be sure of that.
OBTW: Trashed the prefs, with both Pref Manager and alt+cmd at launch.

I just bought a Sony Handycam DCR-SR42. It does not have a mini DVD or Firewire, rather it has its own hard drive and connects via USB. My Mac, a desktop from 2006, running OS X 10.4.10, has iMovie HD. I have been trying tirelessly to import footage according to instructions from iMovie help and from the Sony Handycam handbook, but I keep getting a message that says: "iMovie could not import the file because it is not a movie file. Quicktime could not parse the file." The files are .MPG format. I've already tried to format the camera's hard drive (both on the camera and on the computer), but that didn't work...
View 3 Replies View RelatedSearching in my address book didn't work anymore so I exported the whole address book as an .abbu file and deleted all entries. Now when I try to import that file, it looks for busy for a few minutes and then ends up having no entries. I tried disconnecting from the internet as I read somewhere to avoid interference with iCloud. I also tried creating a new account and import it there so I could change it into vCards, but it wouldn't import there either. It's a 1.3 GB file. I don't have a back-up file or something I can use instead (which wouldn't be up to date) and unfortunately it already synced with my iPhone which has now an empty address book. I also opened the .abbu file and tried to import the .abcdg files but that doesn't work either

I've been editing .avi and .mpg files with iMovie, but they all take extremely long to import. I tried converting them to dv streams with ffmpegx, but they still took just as long to import to iMovie. Are there any file formats that iMovie can recognize directly without all the importing hassle?
