QuickTime :: Is MOV File With Mp2 Audio Tracks Compatible With Player
May 9, 2012
I export multiple .mov files with certain video stream and mpeg layer 2 audio stream inside, using MPEG Streamclip/VLC/FFMpegX. However it turns out that the sound part is not playbak correctly inside QT player. Is QT player not supposed to playback this kind of file? BTW, I'm on OSX 10.7.3, Quicktime player is version 10.1.Â

I have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple. The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed. If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).

Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Was wondering if someone out there can help me. When I get an email with an attachment & I opened it, it used to get saved on my desktop, but now goes to 'Downloads' after I installed SL. How do I change it back to download to mu desktop??
Now when I try to view a .wmv file it says that I do not have Quicktime player, which I do. I have to open the file via Quicktime & searching for it in my downloads folder. Have looked at the settings & appears to be OK....

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file Â
How do I fix this?

How can I just remove the audio track from a QuickTime MOV file
(H.264/1080p/59.94fps) without losing any video quality (no decompress & re-compress -- just re-wrap video without audio)?Â
I have FCP X, QT X and QT7 (not the full version!) installed. (Soon Compressor.) If they can't do it, is there a utility...?Â

I would like to export the audio from a quicktime movie. i have QT 7 Pro. I want to listen to the audio from the movie in my car, on a CD. I tried it a few different ways, as AIFF, another, and it saves a large file but doesn't sound when I play it. No sound. Is there a way to save it so it's audible? These are AVI files.

I just installed Adobe CS4 which includes Flash Player 10. Since then, my QucikTime does not pop up and open stream audio file automatically. Instead, the Flash Player opens the file within the safari 4. Is there any way that I can make QuickTime Player become the default player for this type of file?

have in the past few weeks uprgraded from tiger to leopard.Everything has been ok but i think i might have deleted some vital part of Quicktime player when i tried to clean up.I only realised this when i decided to get Quicktime player pro which i have paid for and have the key..I have tried to download quicktime from apple support website and just about any other website for that matter but zero.zilch.Installer takes me through the process but i get no player.
I have tried to remove all components of quicktime but to no avail.the download intalls but goes nowhere.Have tried to maybe 'jumpstart' it by double clicking quicktime time movies but there is just nothing going on.

I have some movies on which I'd like to put multiple audio tracks. Here's what I'm doing. First, I add the second audio track in Subler and save. Returning to iTunes, I'm not given the option to switch in iTunes or QuickTime 10. So I go back to Subler and turn one track off, saving again. Now I'm given the option to switch. But the audio doesn't work. The standard track works fine. Switching to the other one makes a popping sound and then pure silence. Switching back works fine. This also happens in QuickTime 10.
So I tried to enable/disable via QuickTime 7 Pro. Turning a track off forces me to resave the file, but not like Subler, oh, no. QuickTime 7 Pro forces me to reencode the whole thing as an MOV, which takes forever and is pointless. I've done this without having to save before. What's going on? How do I add a second, selectable audio track that works on things in iTunes without QuickTime 7 Pro forcing me to save MP4s as MOVs and [insert any audio filetype with zero video whatsoever here] as MOVs as well?!

I am trying to take some dvd's and put them onto my Western Digital Media Player. My problem is that each episode of the show in question is made up of 2 .vob files. The second file for each episode automatically plays the directors commentary, and has to be turned off manually in VLC player. Is there a way to remove this track? I've tried conversions in VisualHub, Audio Converter, and Mac the Ripper, but to no avail.

I'm digitizing some taped conversations with older relatives onto my Powerbook, via AudioHijack Pro. Once I have all the .mp3s on my HD, I'd like to combine them into one CD, divided into tracks. They are generally stories reminiscing about childhood, and I'm going to make some CD jackets that describe each one as X-mas gifts. I know how to make DVDs with chapter markers in iDVD or iMovie, but how should I do this for strictly audio CDs? Garageband, Quicktime Pro, Toast?

Just got the new Perian 1.1.4 so that it's compatible with my new snow leopard quicktime 10. However, it doesn't seem to be able to play the same file formats as my older quicktime version. I used to be able to play mkv files with Quicktime 7 using perisan but with the new Quicktime it doesnt seem to be able to play it even though the new Perian release should play the same formats with the new QT.

I have a number of tracks on both an artists album and again on a compilation album, not to mention greatest hits. (eg Today by Smashing Pumpkins on both Siamese Dream and again on Triple J Hottest 100, Vol. 2). I know it's a little OCD, but I like having the tracks available through both albums on iTunes (depending on my mood, I'll put the album on or go for a Triple J Mix). Even so, I'd like to decrease the 4.82GB worth of duplicates somewhat. If there is a way to do this automatically, that would be great, but I doubt it. There is also, of course, the risk of deleting album releases in favour of Live recordings or vice versa to consider in this.Â

I can't open quicktime player. I just downloaded the newest free version from the apple site. When I click open it says "could not open because the specified format is not supported" I think that is a problem with what opens it? Everything is set to open with Textedit, I don't remember how or why. How can I get quicktime to open?

Today I updated my System to OS X 10.6.3, which included a Quicktime update
After updating I can't play certain mp4 movies anymore with my Quicktime X Player: I can hear audio but I don't see video.
What is so strange about it that until today I was able to view them without any problems.
I still can watch them with VLC player.
When I click on file info, I see these codecs: AAC, H.264, MPEG-4 SDSM, MPEG-4 ODSM
How can I solve this problem? I am using OS X 10.6
