View 3 RepliesI'd like to change some MIME-type associations, i.e. which program opens which file type. So far I have only found out how to change this setting for a single file (e.g. opening a wmv file with VLC instead of Quicktime via "Open with" ) but I've yet to find the place where I can change this setting globally.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question about listening to music online with my sirius satellite radio acct. The page "SIRIUS Player - 100% Commercial-free Music" has content of MIME type "application/x-mplayer2", but you don't have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page: [URL]. Do you want to open the page? Once I have opened the page, it asks me to download it, which I have done, both actually, the "components for the quicktime" and the "wmp version 9". Neither work.

this is driving me insane. On Tiger I was always able to select the default application to open a given file type, but I can't do this in SL. I want the XLD app to always open my .flac files. So, I click on a .flack file, select "get info" and select "Open with - XLD", and then I click CHANGE ALL. Fine. Next time, I just click "open" on a .flac and it's back to some other application being the default for opening the file, and not XLD! It keeps doing that, no matter how I keep trying to get XLD to be the default... what am I doing wrong, and what can I do to get it to work?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter applying an image to be an application's icon, the image does not appear but instead the image of Preview appears with the image's type (for example jpeg) on it. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong, other than possibly using the wrong image type. Is there a proper image type to use (I've tried pretty much every type but none of them seem to work), or do you have to change icons from somewhere other than 'get info'?

I downloaded the flip4mac WMV to see if that would help and there's still no change. I then went into system preferences, under quicktime and in the advanced setting I made sure that streaming, video, audio, MPEG, MP3, and miscellaneous were all checked and enabled (this being under MIME settings). Still I'm not able to preview the ringback audio on alltel's website. Is there something else that I may not be doing right?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm posting from my iPhone right now, as my problem isn't even letting me log in to my user. I'm using Mac version 10.5.8.
When I was on the computer, it had a spasm that came out of nowhere. When I would use the scroll wheel, the screen would zoom in and out, I was only able to right click, and various keys would bring up that dull tone if I pressed them. I restarted the computer, as it is the solutions to most problems, only to not be able to log in. The only way I could type anything is my holding the option key and typing letters, pressing the return key (the return key came as a character), or pressing q and typing. I have no idea what each thing does.
Now that I have a MBP I need to specify who'll get it if I keel over.
OK - I have other needs as well. Anyone know of anything? The nolo.com product is MSOnly. (i think legalzoom is too)
