Jun 14, 2008I was recently on the alltel website trying to preview ringbacks for my phone and when I try to listen to the audio, a little box pops up saying that it "has content of MIME type �application/x-mplayer2�. Because you don�t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can�t be displayed."
I downloaded the flip4mac WMV to see if that would help and there's still no change. I then went into system preferences, under quicktime and in the advanced setting I made sure that streaming, video, audio, MPEG, MP3, and miscellaneous were all checked and enabled (this being under MIME settings). Still I'm not able to preview the ringback audio on alltel's website. Is there something else that I may not be doing right?

OS X :: Unable To Download Anything / DAP Plugin Cannot Find Download Accelerator Plus
Mar 15, 2010Ive recently downloaded a trail for the download accelerator DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) to speed up the download of a world of warcraft patch. Unfortunately, I had to delete this program when I realized that this was causing my computer to overheat due to pushing my computer's abilities through the roof. My computer has not been damaged in anyway, and i have "deleted" the program but when i still continue to try to download something it says that "DAP Plugin cannot find Download accelerator plus"; even thuogh i just deleted everything. so then i try to delete the plugin, but my mac says that "this item cannot be deleted when it is in use" but it really is not.
Can any of you help me to try to delete this plugin so i can start downloading again. After several attempts and techniques I STILL am not able to download anythinh

So far I have only found out how to change this setting for a single file (e.g. opening a wmv file with VLC instead of Quicktime via "Open with" ) but I've yet to find the place where I can change this setting globally.

Sep 24, 2009i've decided that I absolutely hate everything about the QuickTime X plugin that comes in Snow Leopard. It seems to only show up when playing certain types of media (MP3, H.264), but I'd like to know if there's a way to use the old plugin for everything.
There are no words for how much I hate this thing. The back 30 seconds button looks stupid and is largely useless, the bar looks really fat and the play button is huge. More importantly, I can't change playback speed, and the "Save As..." feature is gone. I paid for the Pro version of this plugin and now Apple has rendered it useless for everything but straightforward playback on a good deal of the files I encounter daily.
Does anyone know of some way to force everything to open with the old plugin? I've thought of switching /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.plugin with the old one from Leopard, but I don't have it anymore and I'm not even convinced that this would work.

Jan 14, 2010I have a question about Safari plugins. I was running under Tiger and got the SplashID desktop program with Safari plugin. I decided to upgrade my OS to Leopard so I can use a newly purchased Magic Mouse. Launched Safari and the SplashID plugin would not load. I replaced Safari, its preferences and other files and the plugin will not load. It worked fine in Tiger. I happened to have another internal drive loaded with Leopard from a while back and it's fully updated. I booted from it and installed SplashID and the plugin. Works perfectly! So, why will the Safari plugin not load on my primary drive that was upgraded from Tiger to Leopard versus the same Leopard on my other drive that was a clean install?
