Im looking for a mic, and I'm only gonna use it for the voice commands on my mac mini. I dont know which are good though, and I dont wanna spend a fortune on it either. I sit like 2-3 metres away from my Mac mini (where I expect the mic to stand as well). So whats a good solution?
Just purchased a 27 IMac and was wondering if anyone makes a slide on type cover dust cover. Would rather use something else than a towel when its off.
How do you type the £ sign on an iMac keyboard? Found an old thread suggesting Option 3. I have the new keyboard and believe the Option key is now the Alt key? Anyway, it doesn't work, I just get #.
noting the diff which is speed, type of ram, graphics card and harddisk. My more impt factor is the graphics card. Is the new Nvidia 9400m better than the old ATI card? Not sure which to get... how to balance with the new machine with the price....My assesment is that... the diff is about $100 or even equal if i upgrade the old model to 4gb ram. So, is the ~$100 diff justifiable to get the old one cos its $100 cheaper but get a better graphics card? Or pay $100 more to get the new model with a bit slower CPU, lousier graphics card but double the hard disk and DDR3 ram compared to DDR2.
Is there any way we can set a file type (ex: .phtml) to open with a software forever? Like until death do us part? I'm very sick of having to chose "Choose a software" blabla. I want my .phtml files to automatically open with Dreamweaver. I did check the "always open this file with this application" and it doesn't work.
So I was using Safari this afternoon, even though I usually use Firefox or Chrome. It crashed again on me and a box appeared that said it may be due to the WCIDEngine Plugin? When I read the problem details to send to Apple, it said "EXC_BAD_ACCESS for exception type, and then for exception codes it said "KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at (some numbers I'm not copying over). Worse yet, it reminded me that I've had 7 crashes since last report. I'm getting awfully tired of this crap. I run a PC that's on Windows 7 and it runs like a charm. I am seriously thinking about going back to it because I got my Mini with the expectation that it would work and most of the time it does, but it's little repetitive things like this that make me question it. I will add that I scrolled down the problem details list and it said that "Thread 0 Crashed" and then proceeded to list a number of things about symantec, like .com/symantec.WCIDEngine".
I have a problem but it's not mine it's my girlfriends. My girlfriend cannot seem to type correct words on her keyboard, due to water exposure. Now whenever she wants to type something it won't let her. We tried different methods; unplugging computer power cord, keyboard, and replug everything back in after 15-20 seconds. No luck. I also had her try to do the pram reset, didn't work as well. I suggest that she re-install osx with the disc or with the new snow leopard disc, to do a clean installation of the snow leopard but we haven't tried that yet.
Some time today, my iMac started displaying some type of outline in the background. I bought it in December, and I've never had any issues with it until today. What the outline is? I heard it might be dead pixels, but I honestly have no clue. I just checked the screen again and it's normal now.
My imac takes my password and then the color wheel displays. The screen cycles quickly and then comes back to type password again. I have shut down and restarted the computer multiple times.
Whenever I hit the right or up arrow key on my macbook, it does shift either right or up but it also type either the number "8" for the right arrow key or the number "9" for the up key. How do I get this to stop?
I need to use start-run-type cmd but Macs dont have Run so is there something similar I can do to type in cmd or do I just have to use a different computer other than a mac?
Here is what I need to know: 1- What log file type are available in Mac OS X computers? 2- How do I access those files? 3- What info (detailed) is actually storred in those files? I require quite a bit of detail to resolve my problems. I realize this is a fairly lengthy answer.
I'm thinking of getting an external keyboard just because the left area of my MBP keyboard gets too hot to type comfortably. Here my temps on istat, is this normal or what?
I'm posting from my iPhone right now, as my problem isn't even letting me log in to my user. I'm using Mac version 10.5.8.
When I was on the computer, it had a spasm that came out of nowhere. When I would use the scroll wheel, the screen would zoom in and out, I was only able to right click, and various keys would bring up that dull tone if I pressed them. I restarted the computer, as it is the solutions to most problems, only to not be able to log in. The only way I could type anything is my holding the option key and typing letters, pressing the return key (the return key came as a character), or pressing q and typing. I have no idea what each thing does.
Well I just placed my $5,000+ order for my new Mac Pro and now it is time to consider power protection. I am going to need to plug in my Mac Pro, LCD monitor, laser printer, speakers, and mouse (MX1000). Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations as to how much protection I need for that? They have so many varieties with different voltages. I have no idea what a Mac Pro requires. All I know is that after spending that kind of money I want to protect my investment with something of high quality.
My macbook is relatively new and, for some reason, the numbers and letters won't type. It seems like I've looked up every shortcut and I haven't found one that works. The track pad and mouse work perfectly, and when I startup my keys will type in my password, but after logging in they stop typing. The F keys and the command and control and option keys also work along with delete and the arrows but enter and neither shifts work.
right, i have msn messenger for mac 7.0.2 and when ever i send a message i have to click back in the box where u type at the bottom before i can type again.
This gets seriously annoying and i was wondering if any1 else has had this problem or knows how to fix it,
What type of ram does the powermac g4 use? im looking into buying some and the about this mac just says sdram, but newegg has two different types of sdram. so what type does it use
I received my MBP last week. everything was great, no problem at all. but since few days ago, I can't type anything to the search panel at Finder! sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt!
i was wondering what can be the reason. it is so annoying problem, i transfered all my files, and i need to search to organize them
here is the place marked with RED where exactly I mean. but this problem is not only for Search Finder panel, it happens at any Finder panel.
I have a file that I don't know how to open. It's 2GB and from what I remember it was either a .zip or .dmg file. However some time ago when I made it I also removed the last 3 characters from the name and renamed it .mov. This changed the way that finder dealt with it. Now I would like to open it but when I change the suffix to either of the above they aren't recognised making me wonder if either the file is corrupt or maybe it's not a zip or dmg.
How can I tell what the file is? I've gone into terminal and queried it with the "file" command but it just tells me that it's data.
I have some file types that their icons are exec icon or empty page icon or anything random... These types of files are for example .nfo files or .srt. Is there a way to set a certain icon that I want for these types of files? An icon for all .nfo files and another icon for .srt files etc.
After I installed Snow Leopard, I noticed that when I am writing into google translation box, some letters are not shown...This also happening when I open a rapidshare link, it shows me the link with most of the letters disappeared...(see attachments)
Lately I have been having a very strange issue with my keyboard. Randomly it becomes unresponsive, but not every key?! All letters are unresponsive, however I am still able to navigate spaces using cmd-1,2,3,4 etc., and the caps lock button will turn on, however I can't type anything. The only way to resolve it is by putting the macbook to sleep and then waking it.
