View 1 Replies View RelatedI was recently on the alltel website trying to preview ringbacks for my phone and when I try to listen to the audio, a little box pops up saying that it "has content of MIME type �application/x-mplayer2�. Because you don�t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can�t be displayed."
I downloaded the flip4mac WMV to see if that would help and there's still no change. I then went into system preferences, under quicktime and in the advanced setting I made sure that streaming, video, audio, MPEG, MP3, and miscellaneous were all checked and enabled (this being under MIME settings). Still I'm not able to preview the ringback audio on alltel's website. Is there something else that I may not be doing right?

I have a question about listening to music online with my sirius satellite radio acct. The page "SIRIUS Player - 100% Commercial-free Music" has content of MIME type "application/x-mplayer2", but you don't have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. Once I have opened the page, it asks me to download it, which I have done, both actually, the "components for the quicktime" and the "wmp version 9". Neither work.

A downloaded PDFdocument displays boilerplate text and images for the emanating company but the specifically requested content is (seemingly) missing (i.e. not visible/displayed).
However, if the same document is opened in a browser (Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1)) then all of the expected content is displayed.
Interestingly, on invoking Print within Preview, the print preview thumbnail image shows the missing content.
Furthermore, a QuickView of the document within Finder does show the missing content.

I've got some documents or rather videos that i've got to watch for Unviersity and I can't open them using my mac because it doesn't have a mime reader. tell me of a reliable mime reader I can download for free?
I'd like to change some MIME-type associations, i.e. which program opens which file type. So far I have only found out how to change this setting for a single file (e.g. opening a wmv file with VLC instead of Quicktime via "Open with" ) but I've yet to find the place where I can change this setting globally.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running mail 5.2 on 10.7.3 with imap. I'm having problems with emails not showing up. Or they show up when people send them and then dissapear. They are not being combined in the multiple email from the same user, the new feature of mac mail. They are just not showing up. I can go to my server and see them sitting there. The specific emails today were sent 6 days ago.
Also the folder I created for these emails were not showing up either, even though it was created on the server. This is also after hitting syncronize.
Third, emails from the past for some folders nore not showing up at all. I can go into folders I have with emails from a month to a year ago and they are competely blank even tough I know there are emails in those folders.

I'm running OS X 10.9.2 and iTunes 11.2.2 and out of the blue, my iTunes Playlists are not displaying/ not visible in the left pane under "Playlists". It's as if I have no playlists anymore. If I attempt to create a new playlist, nothing new is visible (i.e. the Playlist pane still appears empty). However, all of my music is still viewable and playable. In fact, if I play a song, I may click on its arrow and add it to any of my 20 or so playlists. So they are all visible from the drop down menu on any song that's playing.
Just now, I attempted to restore an older "iTunes Music library" file (.itl) by trashing the current one and replacing it with one from my previous "iTunes Libraries" folder. I restarted iTunes (holding down the option key), selected the previous version library and still the Playlists will not display.
At the moment I am open minded about Ping, so I might give it a try. But I do have a question.. For those who have activated an account.. Does it display your entire library of music you downloaded? Or does it just display who your favorite artists are and what your favorite songs are? I wasn't sure if you get to choose what or how info is displayed.

View 13 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my macbook 2 months ago I could command+space and open the spotlight dialog box and type say "i" and it would start displaying ical, iweb, you know everything that starts with I. Like it should. Somewhere down the line things got funky. Now I command +space, open the box, type the letter of the application i want or whatever and nothing is displayed in the finder window. However when I move my cursor to the actual magnifying glass in the corner after I typed the search, and click it, it will show the results. Or if I type what I want to find and then command space again it will show it. So what did I do wrong? I want it back the way it way) Just having to command + space twice, once to open the search box and then one more time after i enter the search string, is getting annoying. Or having to click on the magnifying glass after entering the search.
