My MBP is a 13 inch and it is less than 6 months old, but recently Safari has been slowing down my whole computer to a snails pace. It is so slow that it takes like 3 minutes for a click to register. It is almost as if it has a virus. I switched to using google chrome and it is almost as if the problem goes away (its still slow with chrome, but a lot faster than safari). Google chrome and google chrome renderer are using 70.9 and 49.9 of my cpu respectively, and my mbp still goes with not near as bad of a problem as safari.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an old G3 pismo with OSX 10.3.9For the moment My girlfriend uses FireFox and I use Safari...so I dont have to keep signing in and signing out everytime i want to check my mail.BUT the last compatible Safari for Panther is 1.3.2 which recently seems to be opening less and less stuff... I've heard that Opera is a pretty good browser... Will it work on Panther and how much space does the App take up on the HD. And lastly any problems running the 3 of them untill I decide that its worth changing...then if so, how do I throw out the old Safari app.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I open safari, it stalls my computer for literally 2-4 minutes! It is extremely annoying. During that time, I can't open any apps, can't relaunch finder, can't force quit safari. I am basically stuck waiting for it to get itself out of being stalled.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI run a MBP early 2008 2.5 Penryn. I have 6GB OWC RAM and a 500GB Hitachi HDD. I run SL 10.6.2. From time to time, Safari freezes my computer for a time between a few seconds up to about 15 seconds, when I open a new tab with "CMD+T" or a new window with "CMD+N". As the whole computer freezes during this time, it is pretty annoying.

I have a MacBook Pro 2008 with the latest version of Leopard, and I have five accounts on this computer. Two of the accounts will not connect to any server in the world. Here's a description of both accounts:
Account 1: Not an administrator.Parental Controls is currently off, but it was on during first sightings of this problem, but with no restrictions as to internet usage.
Account 2: Not an administrator.Parental Controls is currently on, and the only website allowed is /[url]..The National Weather Service.

I have safari set to open up when I boot up my computer using the login items for my user account.
But when I start up my computer, instead of opening up a window, it starts up safari in the dock, but never actually opens a window. When I click on the icon in the dock the page will open up. Its acting as if I hid(CMD+H) the page. I know safari is open and it loaded the homepage, but the window wont actually open.
I've tried it on two different computers, Macbook pro, mac pro with same issue on both.
I accidently deleted Safari and now I can't reinstall because it keeps telling me there is a newer version on my computer. The issue is my system does not support the newer version.

For the past couple of weeks we have had a problem with itunes causing the computer (an iMac running OS X 10.5.5) to freeze and we can't even do a forced quit, but must turn off the machine manually. This seems to happen specifically when we are in the itunes store, not just working with the playlist. The computer has also frozen when in safari - the last time when we were trying to copy a page into Word. We thought it might be a wireless connectivity problem, but I have switched to an ethernet connection and still have the same problem happening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday my mac (powerbook, running on 10.4.11) froze and after I reset it, Safari doesn't seem to load any pages, it just stays in a "loading" state. Firefox, however, seems to be working fine (as does Mail) so it appears to be a problem with Safari. I tried the following:
1) Restart computer
2) Reset safari
3) Use some dns changer remover utility (saw this in another post, and downloaded utility from CNET, but it failed to find any issues).
how do I get multiple websites and information on my screen at the same time? I am learning wordpress and need to have its instruction page up beside my blog to learn.

Many extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed. However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari
- Run OnyX
- Repair disk permissions
- Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't
- Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims
I was wondering if it was possible to tell Safari to look in multiple or different keychains for login credentials. I have x509 certificates that I want to put in a different keychain from the default "login" one, but when I surf to a webpage that requires that certificate, Safari doesn't seem to want to use it.

Could some teach me on how to take a copy of my Bookmarks from Safari, then be able to transfer that on my other Safari app while I'm logged in on my guest log in?
And also on how to take my iTune playlist to my other iTune app on my guest log in please..
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
When I open Safari 5.1.5, it automatically opens all the pages from my previous session. Can I turn off that feature , and how?
