Updating lion and the blue installation bar has moved to abou1cm from the right and has reached the "Âoving items into place..." location. The blue color is still flowing like it is installing, but the bar has moved for over an hour. I'm afraid to shut the machine off.

I'm trying to update my Macbook Pro to the new 10.7.4 I have downloaded the update twice (no interruptions during download) and when i click to restart the computer to install the update, the update dosent install. I keep getting an error message saying the download is corrupted, when the update tries to unpack to install. Â

Lion recovery update from the software update won't install. Keeps spooling (I think that is the word for the updaet never seems to finish updating). Ever since I downloaded iplayer - my mac has been running slow. I have followed a few tips to remove it and all other related files - but it still runs low (spinning wheel of death) and now pdf's dont download correctly (I guess I have deleted too much).Â
My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.Â

I just used an OSX Server v 10.5.0 DVD to upgrade a computer (1.6 ghz G5 tower, 1.5GB RAM) from osx 10.3.9 server. When I get to the 'Serial number' panel, none of the fields will accept any keyboard input. The keyboards worked prior to the upgrade. They work fine on another mac. The eject, volume, and caps lock keys all work. Just the fields themselves in the Serial Number (and the registered to, and organization) fields are ignoring input.Â

Installed an update for WePrint Server APP which popped up onscreen. Downloaded update, installer program loaded, selected drive, and install was successful. Closed the install program window (Safari open in background along with other programs running in dock, but not on screen), but the Installer menu bar remained on the top of the screen. Lost the OSX Lion Status / menu bar, the Apple icon, time, user, etc. Was able to use Safari, but not without hesitation.
The Safari menu bar at the top of the screen never appeared while in Safari, the Install Program menu did not disappear, even thought there was no evidence that the program was still running. No icon in dock, no hidden screen page or window. Closed all the running programs in the docks, and checked Force Quit, (ctrl+alt+esc) and no installer program remained. Unable to shut off or restart the computer without using the on / off button on the back of the intel mac monitor. Once rebooted all seems well.

I'm wondering if I need to wait until os x Lion is installed before I install this update? Perhaps it will automatically via "software update" after Lion is installed. It looks like the fix is pertains to osx Lion functionality, so maybe it would've already been downloaded via software update if Lion was installed as opposed to snow leopard which is what I have currently.The article says " If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed." Which update installer are they referring to and where can I get it? I thought it'd be better to update the firmware prior to installing the os, but maybe that's just an old habit I picked upnwhile using windows.

When the program is installing it stops at 97% and says error, "please close the following programs: safari" so i close them and the same thing happens. even though i have closed safari this error still occurs and i can't finish my installation.

(Thats atleast the name for it Directly transformed from norwegian to english) and when i try to run the update it ask me to reboot. I press reboot and it closes all of my programs and the update starts installing , but the progress bar stops when its like 20% finished, I've been waiting for 12 hours and still no progress.

For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.Â
I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.Â

I'm installing 10.5.6 on the family MacBook (white) and it was running 10.5.4 previously, yet hanged when I was updating everything (there was a few updates) so I had to force power off. The Mac says it is running 10.5.6, but I wanted to apply the combo update to be safe. However, it fails when installing (it doesn't get to the stage where it reboots, still in OS X at this stage). It says "The installer could not install some files in "/". Also, repairing Disk Permissions failed too. Prior to the update, everything was working fine - I'm usually full of ideas, but when it is your Mac that is playing up I'm very keen to hear what others have to say.

I've got a Macbook with with Leopard v10.5-something installed. When I installed the latest update and was at about 25% done with the "writing"-part it suddenly failed. I got a message prompting to restart (I think it said that it was something wrong with the source from which it was writing), when I restart the computer I get another message promting me to restart. My backup is a few months old, so I wonder if there is some way around my problem?

I'm trying to install boot camp and I can't install until I update the BOOT ROM. I've downloaded the package macmini2011efiupdate.pkg and this corresponds with my 5.2 model identifier. I have already updated lion to 10.7.3 and I seem to think that maybe the boot rom update was intended for 10.7.2 and it won't let me install on 10.7.3 because it thinks it isn't compatible?
