Safari :: 5.1.5 And Proxy Webserver On Localhost
Apr 13, 2012I am using Safari 5.1.5 behind a corporate firewall with a proxy server. I have proxy settings for http, https, ftp, and socks, that require me to login and authenticate. Everything works fine until I try to connect to my local development webserver running on Apache Tomcat on localhost port 8080. Whenever I try to connect Safari redirects to "localhost.corporatedomain.com." I have localhost*, localhost:8080*, 127.0.0.1*, all in my proxy bypass settings in Network Preferences yet Safari seems to ignore these? Chrome, Firefox, et. al, all work fine hitting localhost.

The loginout windows on safari reports "unencrypted" , but analyzing tcp/ip traffic with Wireshark, it really seems that NTLM has been used and so password is really crypted..

Safari On PC Behind Proxy Fails Following Password Change?
Jun 21, 2012I've been using Safari on my work PC for a while. It sits behind a proxy which required my Windows credentials. I recently changed my windows password and now Safari can't reach any website. I've cleared out the Windows credential manager. Internet explorer prompted my for my new password once and now works fine. I've tried an un-install and re-install of Safari but that didn't help.Â

Jul 6, 2012Since 10.7.4 (I'm guessing) my Safari extensions are removed whenever I login at my office location.
I recive an error stating:Â
"Safari can't use extension XYZ because the extension is no longer Valid"....The extension is then removed. Back home I can reinstall and use as normal.Â
As I mentioned this is a relative new "feature" My company uses proxy servers, to manage Internet access. My Computer is not managed by IT, they have no permissions or control over it.
This "feature" only occures when I'm in the office. All Extensions are removed!

Nov 12, 2010How do I reset file associations? For some reason .sh files is currently set to be opened by Netbeans and other editors. Is there a better extension for shell scripts? I've heard of .command. Should I use that?

OS X Mavericks :: Automatic Conversion Of File Folders To IBooks?
Jun 28, 2014I just purchased a new MacBook Pro with Mavericks and transferred my files from an earlier laptop with an earlier OP. I had two files of MS Word documents, each file a title ending in "Book". Mavericks apparently automatically converted both file folders to iBooks, and now when I double-click on them the Terminal launches.Â
How can I get my folders back with their MS Word content?

Aug 9, 2008Can this be done? Its annoying as hell and makes me want to drop kick the computer when I come across tons of blogger.com images when searching through google images. It pretty much boggles the mind how potentially dangerous this is anyways. I want an option to cancel like all the other browsers that let you choose where to save a file.

Both run 10.9.4. Is there a way to check that Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.06 is actually installed?

Sep 11, 2006I am farily new to macs in general and am confused about one thing. In windows, you can always update the browser regardless of your windows version. OS X 10.2.8 is not all that old but I cannot update safari to 2.0.4 like in 10.4.7. Is support for 10.2.8 discontinued? Am I forced to use firefox if I want an up to date browser? BTW, this is on an old Beige G3 so 10.2.8 is the highest OS.

Feb 13, 2012I am trying to transition my father to OSX on a new iMac. I've tried several times to get him to commit to getting Internet but he is just not going to. However it would be useful to get the tutorial videos on Apple's Support pages for him to follow as he learns, iWork in particular, but other tasks as well. I've shown them to him in the AppleStore and he seems to like them as a method of instruction. Apple however has changed its method of streaming the video, I can't download them anymore using QuickTime and you can't access them via the Safari > Activity menu either. Why Apple is making it hard to get something they seem to want us to have, seems strange to me. How do you download the tutorials? I'd like to put them on a Flassh Drive for Dad to use at home.Â
