Safari :: 5.1.5 And Proxy Webserver On Localhost

Apr 13, 2012

I am using Safari 5.1.5 behind a corporate firewall with a proxy server. I have proxy settings for http, https, ftp, and socks, that require me to login and authenticate. Everything works fine until I try to connect to my local development webserver running on Apache Tomcat on localhost port 8080. Whenever I try to connect Safari redirects to "localhost.corporatedomain.com." I have localhost*, localhost:8080*, 127.0.0.1*, all in my proxy bypass settings in Network Preferences yet Safari seems to ignore these? Chrome, Firefox, et. al, all work fine hitting localhost.

Safari :: Proxy NTLM Authentication On Lion

Feb 21, 2012

I working on an (let me say "enterprise") oddly problem. To connect to Internet our company make use of a http proxy, based on TrendMicro IWSS, configured to authenticate users with AD credential, forcing digest authentication with NTLM.

The loginout windows on safari reports "unencrypted" , but analyzing tcp/ip traffic with Wireshark, it really seems that NTLM has been used and so password is really crypted..

Safari On PC Behind Proxy Fails Following Password Change?

Jun 21, 2012

I've been using Safari on my work PC for a while. It sits behind a proxy which required my Windows credentials. I recently changed my windows password and now Safari can't reach any website. I've cleared out the Windows credential manager. Internet explorer prompted my for my new password once and now works fine. I've tried an un-install and re-install of Safari but that didn't help.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Safari Extensions Are Removed When Behind Proxy

Jul 6, 2012

Since 10.7.4 (I'm guessing) my Safari extensions are removed whenever I login at my office location.

I recive an error stating:

"Safari can't use extension XYZ because the extension is no longer Valid"....The extension is then removed. Back home I can reinstall and use as normal.

As I mentioned this is a relative new "feature" My company uses proxy servers, to manage Internet access. My Computer is not managed by IT, they have no permissions or control over it.

This "feature" only occures when I'm in the office. All Extensions are removed!

May 2, 2012

When I setup websharing, localhost points to http://192.168.1.3/ instead of 127.0.0.1. If this is correct then why do I recieve a Forbidden error when I attempt to access pages in my users/sites/ folder? I do get the "It Works" message when connecting to http://192.168.1.3/

OS X Server :: MacBook Localhost Cannot Display Webpage

Mar 12, 2009

I am trying to use the localhost server on my macbook for website development (instead of doing testing by ftp). I downloaded the files from my webserver to the Site folder on my macbook. The Apache is running. My site is flash and make use of the SWFAddress class. The AC_RunActiveContent.js file is in the same folder as the index.html file. When I try to open the page [URL] in firefox, the title and favicon loaded properly, but the embedded flash could not be displayed. However, the same set of files works alright on the remote web server. I thought it might be problem with the directory and I have tried ./swf/home.swf, swf/home.swf, /swf/home.swf in the index.html file but none work.
Directory structure ....

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Get Files To Show Up In Library/WebServer?

May 3, 2012

I just bought a Mac Mini that came with Lion installed. I couldn't transfer my files over from my old G4 because the video card died in that Mac, so I put the hard drive into an external USB case and did the transfer of my old settings that way using Migration Assistant. All my settings seems to have moved fine and I manually moved my web files to Library/WebServer/ Documents folder, but when I turn on Web Sharing none of my files show up on the server although they are all in the Library/WebServer/ Documents folder and Web Sharing is turned on Sharing Preferences. All I get when I access the IP is "It Works".

Software :: Using VPN Proxy?

Jun 5, 2009

I've checked the box "Send all traffic over VPN connection" because that's exactly what I want to do.

However, as people have experienced, and as expected, you can no longer browse the web or any other web traffic when you are connected to VPN with this enabled.

There are plenty of help articles telling us to uncheck that box to get web access again. But that's exactly what I do NOT want to do. I purposefully want ALL of my web traffic to go through VPN, so that it is encrypted between me and the OSX Server. (i.e. i might be out somewhere on an untrusted network and want to chat with someone, so why not VPN to my OSX Server where I know it has trusted internet... )

So what do I need in order for the OSX Server to "redirect" all of my VPN'ed web traffic out thru its real internet connection and then back to me over VPN?

A Proxy program running on the OSX Server? if so, which one? Is there a simple, already-built, ready-to-install program that will route ALL internet traffic, not only , but also chat, email, ftp and others? Perhaps one or two terminal commands or maybe even just a setting in the network system preferences?

I've looked at SQUID, aside from the fact that it is incomplete, not built, missing some pieces, and not easy to make or install, as I understand it only works for www port 80 traffic anyway, so that still doesn't help for other types of traffic such as chat, ftp, etc.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: App Store Proxy Bug In It?

May 22, 2012

I run a bunch of labs at a university and we have been recently forced to move to mac OSX 10.7 as the newer imacs will not boot to older systems. On the surface this all seems fine except for the annoying App Store issues. Apart from the bulk education purchase problem (ie. there is none) - there is a really annoying Bug with some kind of background update check, this window pops up at random: (I finally identified the culprit as the App Store) Clicking 'Cancel' only causes the window to pop-up again a minute or several seconds later.Yes the Students and Academics could put in their personal proxy details, however this seems like a major flaw as there is no way to turn it off.

I can't work out how to set the global proxy settings that will affect all of my users. Is this a setting thats applied via the xserver, or is it something thats been manually configured locally?

How would i go about changing the global proxy settings, so that any user that logs in receives the same proxy settings?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Dragging The Little Proxy Icon?

Jun 6, 2012

In Text Edit, when I drag the little proxy icon (the little page symbol in the title bar next to the title) to a new location such as a folder or a disk, it creates an ALIAS of that document rather than moving or copying the actual document itself.  Why would I want to create an alias of the file on a disk? I NEVER want to do that!In the past, you could MOVE or COPY the document my dragging that proxy, depending on your desire. If you just dragged it (with no modifier keys) you moved the document. I can hold down the option key to COPY the file now but I see no way to simply MOVE the document to a different folder on my HD by dragging that proxy icon. First Apple removed the ability to drag a document  to the trash by dragging the proxy, and now it eliminated the ability to move it to another folder. Apple has basically broken the functioning of that little proxy icon, which was a useful feature in the past. Is there a way to change it back?

Final Cut Pro X :: Creating / Using Proxy Media Files

Aug 29, 2014

I just made the transition to FCPX and I've imported video to a number of Libraries. (I really have to fight hard not to call them Projects)

As I didn't completely understanding all of the import settings, I made Optimized video along with the Original media.  Ok, no big deal.  The files take up a bit of space, and because of the nature of the project (lots of talking head interviews) not sure I really need Optimized video, but wasn't too concerned.  I'll know for next time that I don't want to check that box, unless I really need the Optimized video.

My question is -

If I wanted to make a copy of my media files to a portable HD, work with these files off site with the same Library that is on my Macbook Pro, make logging notes, selects, maybe even creating a Project or two, and then return  to my office where I would re-connect the original media files located on the office-bound hard drives, what do I need to do to ensure that this will work properly?

Secondarily, would it now make sense to create the Proxy files to use for this purpose?  Is this not what these files are normally used for?  Smaller, and more easily taken on the road and edited, and then the Library will re-connect everything to the original files once re-connected to the drives that contain the original media?
