MacBook Pro :: Can 17" 2.4GHz Support 16GB (8GB X2). 1333Mhz DDR3 SDRAM Configuration

Apr 23, 2012

I am interested to get myself a 17" 2.4GHz quad-core Intel i7 MacBook Pro, just that I want to make sure that can MBP17" 2.4GHz support 16GB (8GB x2). 1333Mhz DDR3 SDRAM memory configuration. Or is it just waste money to install 16GB RAM in the MacBook Pro, cause in the menu it says MBP support up to 8GB of RAM.

Would the MacBook Pro 5,1 work with two SO-DIMM 2GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM modules too?

MacBook :: Noticeable Boost From 2GB To 4GB (both DDR3)?

Jan 14, 2009

I am considering upgrading my RAM from 2GB to 4GB today at the Apple Store, and was wondering if I will notice a significant performance boost. 2GB is fine, but occasionally I'll get that annoying beach ball. It's $150 for a 4GB boost, and I have the 2.0GHZ aluminum MacBook. Would it be worth it for me to upgrade it?

MacBook Pro :: Upgrading From 8 To 16GB Of RAM

I ordered a retina MacBook Pro base model. I figured I'd only need 8GB but then after I cast my order into the depths of Apple, I was thinking I should have got the 16GB upgrade. But on one hand, I was wondering if the RAM is user-replaceable or do they solder it on the boards now? I can buy another 8GB stick from a 3rd party.

I have Dual 1.8 GHZ Power PC G5 with 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM, with OSX version 10.4.11.My computer has been getting increasingly crazy over the past couples weeks. I'm even having trouble typing this because the screen occasionally "flashes" or "jumps" when I'm in the middle of a task.I noticed the problem first when I would make a new folder. After an untitled folder was made, when I would try to give the folder a new name, the screen "jumped" and I would have to try several times before I could complete the task.

MacBook Pro :: Will 16GB Of RAM Really Increase Speed

May 13, 2012

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro with 8 GB of RAM installed - I bought the Corsair memory from Amazon for under $50 and installed it myself. Amazon now has a 16GB kit fro Corsair for only $100 - the least expensive price I've found. The only RAM intensive app I really run is Photoshop CS6,but I do keep a lot of apps open at one time (Acrobat Pro X, Outlook, InDesign CS6, Illustrator CS6, Word, Parallels running XP, iTunes at the moment) and I was wondering if the extra RAM would actually help me out. I'm looking for some advice from people who have already upgraded to 16 GB... can you actually tell a difference?

OS X :: Slow Internet (imac, 10.5.7, 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5, Memory 2GB DDR SDRAM)?

Aug 26, 2009

My internet is very slow! It's not the service as I have 2 other computers who run very fast on wireless. I just replaced the ethernet cable which didn't do anything. My computer itself isn't that slow although it isn't fast either. It's a imac, 10.5.7, 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5, memory 2GB DDR SDRAM.

I thought about switching it to wireless,I'm not sure as I don't see it on the top toolbar and I'm not sure how to set it up if my machine actually has it. Could my router be bad if my other computers are good?

MacBook Pro :: Kingston Ddr3 1066 8gb (2x4gb) Work On 13" Unibody?

Dec 31, 2010

I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro from Best Buy a few months back, it is the 13" unibody with a 2.26 ghz dual core processor and came with 2gb of memory installed. I just bought the two sticks of memory from [URL] which were Kingston DDR3 1066 204-pins, 4gb each. My friend told me that my Macbook Pro will only support up to 6gb, but my manual says that it supports up to 8gb. He also said that people have been having trouble with their motherboards by installing too much (8gb) of memory. I've done some research and looks like I'm good to go, but just want some reassurance before I install the new memory. One last thing, he also told me that 8gb is only supported on the i7 processors?

MacBook Pro :: Max RAM In A 17" Late 2011 8GB Or 16GB?

Jun 12, 2012

I just bought a late 2011 17" MBP with 4GB RAM (standard).Having upgraded to Adobe CS6 I am finding the machine impossibly slow, so I figure I need more RAM. Apple says max = 8GB (2x4), but Crucial Memory recommend 16GB "guaranteed compatible". I'm now quite unsure: can I really put 16GB in? Are Apple wrong? If Crucial have sold loads of 16GB kits that can't be used, surely they'd have taken it off their website? Can anyone confirm whether I can put 16GB (i.e. you've actually done it successfully).I'm running Lion 10.7.4

OS X :: IMac 2.4 GHz With 4 GB SDRAM Running 10.6.2 Suddenly Full Hard Drive

Dec 26, 2009

maybe I haven't been paying attention but my HD seems to have a misc 50-150 GB of stuff on there that didn't seem to be there before, nor can I account for what it is. I have opened up the HD and gotten "info" on all folders there. The total amount of storage does not equal what the HD tells me I have. I get "info" on the HD and it says 300 GB used (20 GB left).The folders and size are as follows as listed on my HD:

Users: 154.46 GB
World of Warcraft (ashamed faced): 21.28 GB
Applications: 3.68 GB
Library: 6.34 GB
System: 4.49 GB
Limewire: 49.4 MB
Incompatible Software (?): 1.6 MB
Developer: 165 KB
iTunesShut: 479 KB

For a grand total of: 190.39 GB or so (not including the 50 mb or 644 kb) I'll include what is on my desktop as well (I assume it is already included on the list above but just incase).........

MacBook Pro :: 16gb Memory Upgrade For 13" Early 2011?

Apr 28, 2012

I run parallels a fair bit for research and my MBP is pretty slow. Took it to genius and he said to get a memory upgrade to 8GB. However, I'm reading everywhere that it can handle 16GB and the Crucial says it is compatible (only £100 ish for this so seems a pretty good deal). All well and good- but will this invalidate Apple care as the max Apple state it can handle is 8GB? Or.....is 8GB going to be enough anyway?

I'm looking to grab one of these new MBP's in the next few days, but as an admittedly,.I'll be mostly using my MBP for DJ and Logic work, as well as the occasional Illustrator or Photoshop project, along with some movie watching. No games or 3D stuff necessary..66 make a justifiable difference over the 2.4? I'm planning on getting 8gb with the 2.4, doing the 7200rpm upgrade and getting a HR screen on whichever one I choose, but just wanna make sure my going with a cheaper processor and more RAM isn't shooting myself in the foot down the road more than getting a slightly faster proc with less RAM.
