I shut my macbook pro down the other day and when I turned it on the next day, I couldn't get on Safari. It would constantly say that it couldn't find an internet connection. I tried to check to see if I could do an update, and same problem. Here is the kicker. Mail, iChat, and Firefox all work fine. The only applications affected that I can find so far are iTunes, Safari, and Automatic Update.
View 2 RepliesI have a Dual 1.8 GHz Power PC G5 and am running 10.4.11. When I select software update it says, "software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet..." "Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem." However, my internet connection works fine for everything else. I do have two peripheral drives connected. One of them had the same system as my main drive. However, the problem persists even when they are disconnected and I reboot. I can get the updates if I reboot from the peripheral.

Just some background information that's hopefully helpful. My internet has never been great--if all three of my roommates were all using our laptops or if I was downloading something for a while, I would sometimes get kicked off and have to restart my router. Speaking of which, I'm using the wireless obviously through a Linksys router. While the disconnections on my old laptop happened infrequently, I literally can't stay on the internet for more than 10 minutes with my MacBook.
I really want to use my MacBook, but without the internet, it's pretty much just sitting there and I'm forced to use my 4-year-old, dying HP.
getting network issues with Snow Leopard on their macbook air? I bought the family pack and installed it on my MBP and black Macbook but the macbook air has been acting weird since the upgrade. The internet constantly drops and the browser simply get stuck trying to find a connection, other apps that require internet are also not responding. Usually after a few quits and restarts of the application the internet would come back normal but then later it would drop again. I know its specific to the Air because I dont get issues with the Pro or regular Macbook running right next to the machine. I have tried deleting the WPA2 account and readding it but the problem still shows up frequently. Using the Eithernet USB adaptor doesnt help either

I have to stop the airport then restart airport and wait a minute then it's working fine for like 5 minutes. It is unbearable! I get an exclamation on the airport icon in the menu bar. I have to repeat steps again, over and over and over.

Recently I have been having issues loading internet content. When I try to load almost any website, my internet browser acts like it is searching for my wireless router and can't find it. However, when I use my PSP to connect to the internet from the same spot, it works perfectly fine. The PSP usually says there is a 70% connection, which is better than it has ever been. My router and laptop are on the same floor only a room away.
I have other people in my house that share the router: 6 computers; 4 are laptops that are used more often than the 2 desktops, 4 iPod Touches; 2 of which are never used. I had everyone turn off Bluetooth on all devices since none of us use that feature and that didn't help all.
I honestly don't know what the problem is, but if I had to make a guess, it would be all of the things that our devices can connect to with AirPort. There is Motorola, 2WIRE017, 2WIRE160, 2WIRE417, 2WIRE730, MartinWirelessRouter, NorzWireless, NETGEAR, schooly, and stackdaddy. I think all of these wireless connections are disrupting one another, which is what I thought was causing the problem. The only one I ever care to connect to is Motorola, so is there a way to prevent my computer from even recognizing anything else?

Sometimes when I'm using Safari, and I scroll the page up and down, its not a very smooth scroll, it kind of lags a little. Especially when the page is still loading.
Actually this happens on both my iMac and Macbook Pro, so I'm starting to think that this is normal, and it might be because I don't have the fastest broadband connection. Because when I take my MBP to my mom's house, Safari is always smooth, and she has a pretty fast connection there.
Also, when I go to certain forums, and there a lot of GIF. images, it lags a lot.
After recent upgrade of the system there is no Internet connection

Just got a new iMac and when I use safari, my connection is VERY slow. I have my old imac and other NB's running on the same home network and they work very fast and work fine. my new imac seems to show the address it's going to but sits there for literally min's before it connects or if it connects.

For about a week or so now, my Safari has been loading webpages incredibly slowly. It will often display the message 'server cannot be found/reached'. I have absolutely no idea what's causing this. I know it's not my actual connection, because I can play World of Warcraft with an average latency of 60ms, and direct download large files at a speed I expect.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, I just did the update last night, and I think after that my internet stopped working. It was late, so I just went to sleep. This morning, I wake up and open Firefox. Internet not working. Even though I know it won't work, I open my remote desktop connection and try to log on to my work computer using the WiFi in my apartment. Well, for some reason that worked. I am typing this message right now through a remote connection, but using the same WiFi that firefox and safari tell me that is no internet connections when I try to open it up from my computer.
To make it even weirder, I opened quicken on my computer here and tried to download transactions, and not only did it download them, but it took me to the actual bank site and I could navigate all over it. But when I tried to go to a different website, it did the exact same thing and stalled out again. How can I use this internet connection to log on remotely and use the internet remotely, but on local programs, it tells me I have no internet connection?
I get a signal from a tech school just down the street and i get the signal from my airport. but it is incredibly weak. i cant even watch videos anymore because every 2 seconds it attempts to buffer the rest of the video.
if any of you have any suggestions on how to tweak my computer to make the internet run smoother, feel free to post.
My internet provider says it has a good signal. whether i use wifi or connected straight to the modem its the same, some pages load some dont, always different on what loads and doesnt.  If i connect to a neighbour who has the exact same internet speed and provider it works perfectly fine. Ever since i did a software update 3 or 4 days ago it has been happening.

I have a problem when trying to update through Software Update. My Mac does not find the 10.5.7 update. And not the new Safari 4. I have tried to manually install these, but then it says its not possible to install on this volume. There is space and the computer is only 1,5 year old.

Safari regularly gives me error that I'm not connected to internet/can't find server. I've gotten so fed up I've downloaded Firefox and don't have the issue with Firefox. Also, my other computer running Internet Explorer doesn't give me these errors. I've tried resetting safari, emptying cache. I'm on Mac OS X, MacBrook Pro laptop.

I had Safari 4 dev preview installed then i removed it after installing 10.5.4 because i needed some plugins that wasn't working, the problem is that when i uninstalled it using the uninstaller in the dmg i got Safari 3.1.1 no problem i thought... But i was wrong.I wanted the latest version of Safari 3.1.2 so i went to software update in os x didn't find it so then i went to Apple's Safari site and downloaded the latest safari image they had when i was going to install it on my MacBook i can't because the system says i don't have 10.5.2 which is required but i have 10.5.4!! So i then uninstalled Safari 3.1.1 thinking that i then could install 3.1.2 but no now i can't install Safari
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a MacPro Early 2009, 2 ethernet ports.Ethernet 1 is connected to the LAN and Ethernet 2 is connected directly to a SSL Matrix console (an audio mixer), whom driver needs the used ethernet port to be first of the list in the Network connections list in System Preferences.So when I browse internet I can't use the Matrix's software, and vice versa.I had to create 2 different network positions to browse internet and to work with SSL Matrix, one with Eth 1 first place, another one with Eth 2 first place, and I always have to swap positions.Is there a way to force OSX to use by default the 2nd connection of the list for internet access?Â

I'm on holiday using my mobile phone (Nokia N80) to connect to the Internet over GPRS / EDGE / UMTS. Everything works like a charm, but often the Internet Connect applet drops the connection and just hangs disconnecting.
I'm running OS X 10.4.7 on a 17" Macbook pro, but I have the same result on a iBook G4, same OS X version, and even trying with a different mobile phone (Nokia 6600) and different network service provider.
My 2009 iMac will not go to sleep by itself. It will go to sleep when it's induced but not automatically. I have been through several Apple support documents on this issue and searched here and on Google but nothing they suggest like resetting PRAM etc., works. I have been through console to see if I can find any errors and the only thing there is a couple of entries related to my Targus Bluetooth mouse. I have tried disabling and uninstalling this, updating the driver etc., and it doesn't make any difference.

My work site requires me to download an internet plug-in (Safari comes up with the message - "Safari cannot find internet plug-in"). After following companies directions and installing the plug-in I still get the same message when I try to visit the site.

I know there are a lot of similar threads all around different forums, but nothing really helped and I was hoping some of you smart ladies/guys can help solve this issue once and for all.
Here's the deal:
My main desktop computer (Compaq windows XP computer) is set-up upstairs where the cable router and linksys wireless router are placed (which is right next to the desktop on the desk). My Macbook (running Tiger and is 3 years old) and iMac (running Leopard and is not even 1 year old yet) are set-up downstairs in my new office. This room is in the basement, however the room is almost directly above the main office where the wired desktop computer resides.
Prior to setting up my office downstairs, my sister lived with my family in the basement and had her windows Vista laptop set-up without any internet connection issues. Her internet never dropped on her laptop, and neither did the connection on her wireless all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. Cell phone reception/internet connection in the basement is also great.
When I set up my iMac and Macbook however a few weeks ago, the internet keeps dropping connection! I do not understand this when my sister had no problems at all with her laptop getting internet connection, when she was living with us. The internet connection will stay good for either 10-30 minutes and then drop, or it could be good for up to an hour and then drop.
Can this be done? Its annoying as hell and makes me want to drop kick the computer when I come across tons of blogger.com images when searching through google images. It pretty much boggles the mind how potentially dangerous this is anyways. I want an option to cancel like all the other browsers that let you choose where to save a file.
