View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to download different files from different sites and regardless of the browser I am using it will start downloading and stop at usually under 1meg and then stall and just keep adding the estimated download time. I have very fast internet connection so that isn't the problem and I can download files from emails etc, just seems to have problems with applications that I try and download from sites.

Open With [choose...] or Save file?In Safari, it just automatically downloads the picture to the default download location and then auto opens it with Preview.This is so annoying! How do I set my browsers to just open jpegs within the browser?
View 7 Replies View RelatedOk. iMovie will ONLY save in MPEG4. Got it. Why won't the files open in a browser when trying to upload? (Even if the format is accepted) The files stay dim, as in not able to select. I've exported to YT, Vimeo, iCNN, all that is fine. I've saved the files in differernt areas - other than iTunes. iMovie help is absolutely no help at all.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with all of my browsers opening random websites. All was working fine until one day Safari simply refused to open a few random sites. I thought it was a provider glitch, but they said it's not and besides I have no trouble opening those same sites on my iPad and even from my Bootcamp Windows 7 system. I have no idea what is causing it, some sites simply won't open without any explanation. The browser just keeps loading and loading and loading, but no effect. To make matters even more confusing, it even won't load some images in the mail. The system is up to date.The problem is the same in Safari, Chrome, Opera and Firefox with same web pages. Â

As stated in the title, when I try to download a file from the internet, clicking on the link associated to the file will not start a download, but instead opens a new tab in my browser showing the url of the associated file. If I then right-click and choose 'Download linked file as...' the file can be downloaded with no issues in most of the cases, at least as long as the website allows right-click downloads to happen.I have tried resetting Safari, emptying the cache and, of course, updating my software. It is a midly annoying problem, but it doesn't happen when I use other web browsers in my iMac.

I also trashed the Adobe Reader Internet Plug-in in the Library. I still can't open some pdf files (e.g., bank monthly statements). A window opens showing the statement (which should be pdf), but when I try to save: File>Save, I get a window that opens that includes: "Export As: Statement. html" and "Format: Page Source." The Format selection feature opens a pulldown menu that allows "Web Archeive" as the only other choice. Is there anything else here that I need to delete? How is it that I can still download some pdf files, view them, and save them? This problem is happening on the monthly statements for a couple of financial institutions and not others!

There seems to be a pattern with major updates from Apple and the ability of the servers providing the content - be it iTunes or iOS or Mac OS updates - I have been unable to download successfully the larger updates but smaller (22MB for AirPort Utility) work fine. The annoying thing is that in almost all cases the error doesn't occur until after the download is complete - meaning it takes up all the time and bandwidth etc with no result and you have to start all over again.
This has happened to enough people and with enough different software releases that I posit that it is not the result of any particular configuration of networking and or hardware and or firmware and or OS version etc - but that the it is a systemic issue on the provider side of things.
Perhaps they (Apple's content providers) should stagger access or something - by time zone - or Apple should release updates over the course of a week - not all on the same day. I would much rather get a message that the server is busy try agian later - or have one update a day - and have it work on the first try - that to waste time retrying the same downloads over and over again.

When I right click some links in Webkit / Safari I see an option to "Download with Speed Download". In the app itself though I see no options for contexual menu items. Can anyone direct my blind ass to where I can turn this off? I've "completely disabled the Safari plugin" but I'm not sure that's it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think most people here know how to use Safari to download internet videos from sites such as YouTube. Simply go to Activity, find the appropriate file based on the file size. Double click it, and the FLV file would automatically be downloaded.
This also works for MP4 files, at least it used to before the last Safari update a few months back. Now, whenever I try to do the same operation on an MP4 file, it opens and plays the file within Safari itself instead of saving it. This is really frustrating! Does anyone know how to get around this ridiculous issue? I searched all over the web but it seems no one else is bothered by this.
I haven't been able to copy files from my downloads folder to Font Book, or more importantly, copy files from my jump drive to a folder on my desktop.I also can't copy images from a CD to my desktop. All instances give the error message window "The operation cant be completed because you dont have permission to access some of the items." I should have permission to copy everything, but I'm wondering if in the case of the fonts, the new Lion OS prevents you from using fonts without a license (even if they're free??) pretty clueless
