I am the owner of a shiny new iMac , aluminum and all. I am ready to do more heavy duty resource demanding things that my trusty but aged G4 Powerbook can't handle too well. One of them is video conversion. I have a huge database and collection of avi files that I need to convert to iPod format (I think that's MP4?). Can someone recommend a good program? Freeware, Shareware, Retail, anything to get my job done!

On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter?

I think this may be a Lion upgrade issue, but for the last few months one of my most-visited websites (a newspaper, the UK's www.telegraph.co.uk) has been unable to play any video content, typically short news clips, on either Firefox or Safari. Other newspapers work fine. I have tried asking the Telegraph but got no response from them - 'it's a local issue', I was told. Clearly. I've tried updating Flash Player, Quicktime, DivX and Silverlight, not having much of a clue what it is.Â

I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

I am unable to now download and save a PDF file from a website.I get either a blank window when I click on the PDF file link, or a message during the attempt to save that reads "The document “filename.pdf†could not be exported as filename.pdf."I am also unable to print the file from a website or save as a PDF.This problem is a recent development, occurring in both OS X 10.7.3 and 10.7.4 on my MacBook. It occurs in both Safari 5.1.6 and Firefox 4.0.1. Since it occurs on more than one browser, I'm pointing towards the OS. I use Adobe Reader 10.1.3.The problem does not occur on my MacBook Pro using OS X 10.6.8, using an older version of Safari.
I just updated from X 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but with no results.I uninstalled Reader and reinstalled. Same results.Reader opens other PDF files on my hard drive with no difficulty.

Here's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.

When I try to download free sound effects or video files, I try doing a Save As in Safari, but each time I get the error "the document 'click.mp3" could not be exported as 'click.mp3'". In FireFox I can download any of these files with no problem. Did Apple change something in Safari that this no longer works? It's a pain in the butt to change browsers every time I need to download a file.

I was watching Apple's event on quicktime , and the whole 1:30 hour show streamed with no pre-downloading on my slow internet connection(512kbs at best) while youtube videos of 5 and 10 min will take very long time to load, actually they won't stream ever, all the time they will need to be downloaded at first, this goes for html5 AND flash. what is this technology apple is using to stream video? Why can't other websites utilize it as it is much more convenient? can you benefit using it on your own personal website?

I currently own a JVC Everio GZ-MG130 hard disk camcorder. It records in .MOD files. I cannot view them in quicktime on my imac g3. I have tried opening them as is, and renaming them to .MPG and .MOV. I found that HandBrake will do the job, but I cannot find a PowerPC version for 10.4. 0.9.1 should work, but I cannot find the installer files. If anyone knows of any other way to convert them, tell me. I need to be able to open them in iMovie '04 to edit them.

I've searched these forums and tried a few converters but nothing seems to be good. I used to use visual hub which up until recently was okay. Untill i tried to convert the film office space which i have as a matroska file to an mp4 for my iPhone. The film wouldnt run well and was very laggy on the iPhone. I got handbrake and that works fine for converting the film and makes .mkv's run smooth on the iPhone when converted to mp4, the only problem is that the program crashes after a while usually after converting one film. to cut a long story short! can anyone suggest some more video converters i can try that will work well with snow leopard?

I'm looking for a easy-commanded software of iPod Video converter for Mac. I think it should convert audio and video files, such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, VOB, DivX, XviD, AAC, AV3, MP3, to the formats supported by Video iPod including MP4, M4A, MP3, MOV, etc within few steps and a few minutes. You know, sometimes you have to waste a lot of time to waiting for the entire conversion process without doing other things on your computer. Just now, I found one software just released this year by mp4converter.net at [URL] It seems ok, but does anyone have tried it yet? Give me some advice on its advantages and disadvantages.

I have a video that is ".mov" and I cant use it in SonyVegas (Windows 7) cause it shows no Video (just audio) So I'm trying to convert it to other format that hopefully wont make it look like crap and that will work with SonyVegas . I try iSkysoft Video Converter and it works, but It loose too much quality , the original .mov is 2GB and the biggest better quality i can get with that app is like 400-500mb. I'm giving up, I've search youtube and google for hours in the last 3 days without any success of making the .mov to work on sonyvegas or converting it, that's why i decided maybe someone in here can help me, I'm still kinda like a noob on MAC OS X

I am hoping to get a suggestion or two on a good program to convert video files. I have visual hub but no way to register it . My biggest concern is the conversion from .avi to mp4 and m4v for my ipod, iphone, and apple tv. I also use mac the ripper so I was hoping to find something else that can handle .vob files and have the option to stitch them together like you can in visual hub.

I am looking for the best converter for changing some .swf files into mp4's and even to convert those swf files into mp3 files for listening. I tried a few and they wouldn't convert swf files to mp4 files.
Bottom Line: I'm looking for an awesome ALL-IN-ONE file converter for the Mac that will convert most anything I throw at it. Does something like this exist? Free or not too expensive would be good too.

Well I have not played my game World of Warcraft for a while, and I bought a new Macbook Pro on Apr 13 2012. It won't let me download these older games that ive owned since atleast 2 years ago including these specific games, Diablo II, Warcraft III, Starcraft II and World of Warcraft plus all expansions. Because of the new software how do I download these games without buying new ones. Am I able to buy the old software that these games could run on? If so how, and what software?

I'm a Mac newbie. I switched from Windows a month ago. I need to covert some videos that are in the .WMV format to any (preferably, the best) iMovie 09' supported format. I searched for a mac video converter on google and this forum. All the software that turned up aren't free and the trial versions place watermarks, limit the time and mute the audio, etc.

Looking to encode all my video DVDs etc, for my library. I have an Apple TV, PS3, iMac (2Ghz Core 2 Duo) and iPhone. I have been using Handbrake which is great, use the Apple TV preset which plays on all the devices listed I have. However I'm just wondering if there is a paid for, or free program that is faster or better in any respect for converting? I know H264 is CPU intensive, so is Handbrake going to be the best and fastest anyway?

I'm trying to convert some WMV files into a format iMovie will handle but what ever settings I use I only get the audio when I try and play the clips in either Quicktime or VLC and iMovie doesn't recognise the files as compatible. The clips are needed for a friend wedding in a week's time so I'm getting really frstrated/nervous!!
