May 29, 2012Right after USB connection between Nikon N-60 and PowerBook Pro small error message window with "no camera connected" appears.This is a relatively new development as I've been tethering the N-60 to this powerbook for a couple of years without a problem. Camera is still recognized by remote camera control software (Sofortbild) but somewhat unstable now with frequent crashes.

In fact, I have to reboot to my Bootcamp partition (Windows 7) to format it. It works with my Mac then, but as soon as the camera writes to it again, it becomes read-only.

I've tried using the USB cable that came with the camera itself, as well as a USB card reader. iPhoto, and the laptop itself does not recognize the card, or that there is any device mounted at all. Feb 22, 2012I am using a 15" MacBook Pro Santa Rosa (mid 2007), 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 6 GB memory, with a 240GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD (15 months old). Lion 10.7.3. Computer doesn't boot into Safe Mode AND also if it "goes to sleep by itself" (I don't touch it for a while, then it falls asleep) after some time when I try to wake it up I get the Spinning Ball of Death or a black screen and the only thing I can do is press the power button for some seconds to power off. It wakes up OK if I, either close the lid or Apple icon-> Sleep.
WHEN TRY TO BOOT INTO SAFE MODE: Immediately after the startup chime I press the Shift key, after 2-3 seconds get the login window, key in my password. Instead of logging in, it goes to a screen with the Apple icon, underneath it, the Apple spinning gear and underneath that a loading bar. After quite some time the loading bar disappears, the gear goes on spinning for a LONG time, then black screen, startup chime again and login window. Then, when I key in my password, it just logs in as usual, no safe mode.
I tried to write in Terminal “sudo nvram boot-args="-x"”, BIG mistake! It got my computer into a loop of those screens. I don’t exactly remember what eventually got me out of this loop (I think I booted from a clone, then started with the Lion CD and wrote back “sudo nvram boot-args=""” in Terminal. Also set up an additional administrator account but all was the same. Tried verify/repair disk, everything OK. Eventually I erased completely the HD (not Recovery HD) reinstalled Tiger, Snow Leopard and Lion again, downloaded all applications/software/programs I had, from scratch and only copied the data from a backup, being sure that after that all problems will be over, but... everything like it was, no "normal sleeping" and no SM booting.

May 15, 2012I have bought Macbook Pro last year. Its 2.4 Ghz Intel Core i5 machine with 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Of late it used to go to sleep randomly even while working. Last week I took it to Apple store who was not able to diagnose the cause of the problem but as a precautionary measure has changed, as per him, a bus connecting harddrive to the logic board. However the problem was still not solved. Few hours ago suddenly the machine went off and on starting it I found that it is not detecting the batteries. On the battery icon it displays an X, states "no batteries are available" and randomly switches the power source from battery to adapter and back. There is no light on the adapter. [code]

When I try to scroll with two fingers, the cursor won't move at all. Other two-fingered gestures, such as zoom and pinch, work fine. I checked the system preferences under both Trackpad and Keyboard and didn't see anything useful.

Jun 21, 2012I bought an oldish MacBook 13' Unibody (late 2008) and when I got it one of the first things I did was to install Mac OSX Lion.
Everything was working fine, until I applied an update that made the trackpad stop working (it only accepts clicks, no touch is recognized).
This is the "Trackpad Firmware Update" from the automatic updates.
When starting this firmware update it appears a window with a status message, cancel and Update buttons. After clicking the update button, it starts installing, appears to complete, status changes to "Finishing...", and Update button comes back active at some point.
After that I have tried (unsuccessfully):downloading and installing the update directly from Apple Support [URL] thing, but using the 'root' accountleaving the computer on overnight to see if actually "finished" the processReset PRAM PVRAM - [URL] - [URL] palm pressing over 30 seconds on the trackpad (read this on another thread...?)

May 19, 2012I have a 2006 iMac which has a Core Duo processor in it.I recently purchased Snow Leopard with a view to upgrading to Lion.I installed Snow Leopard with no issues however when it came to installing Lion from the App store it said I required a Core 2 Duo processor as minimum and it would not allow me to download the Lion upgrade.
Is there a specific technical reason for this? Or are Apple just trying to force people to buy new hardware?I only ask because the iMac doesn't meet the requirements for Snow Leopard either but it still let me install it with no issues or warnings which is why I was surprised when I was out right refused when I tried to install Lion.

To hold down option key while starting and then pick the recovery drive and follow instructions after a few hours it went back to the start of asking for my apple id info again the computer didnt ever show the progress bar moving i exited and atempted to start and just sat at the white apple screen and never moved i then have started the process again... How long should this take before seeing any progess on the progress bar? When computer does restart will it come up he usual log in screen or not?
