I have a client that asks "how do I set Auto-Capitalization on Mac Mail?" What she is refering to is as she types, if she does not manually capitalize a word, she wants the "spell check" to do it for her. I have researched this issue to no avail. Does this feature even exist on mail?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn a previous contact software program I have used for years, the first letter of names, streets, and cities, were automatically capitalized as I typed them in. Unfortunately, that software does not work under Lion and the developer is out of business. Because of that, I am trying to convert to Address Book. I can't find the ability to have that same thing happen in Address Book. Is there something I can turn on in Preferences or some other obscure window? My old contact software also automatically filled in cities, names, or states that I previously entered. Great time saver but doesn't seem to exist in Address Book.

On my iPad, when I type in text it will automatically capitalize the first word in a sentence and other words as appropriate, plus let me add to the list of autocomplete words.
Is there similar functionality in Lion? I'm used to relying on iOS to do this work for me, I bought a new MacBook pro recently, and I'm trying to set it up so both devices work as much alike as possible.

I'm tired of typing the first or second letter in the "to" address line and it comes up with an address I don't want anymore. It's not in my address/contact book. So where is that hidden file?

On my iPhone and iPad mail app, which is sourcing from my Gmail, 'read' mail is changed to read mail (from unread) status on across iPad and iPhone mail application platforms. But not for IMac using Lion.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).

I can't remember the last time my iMac running 10.5.6 went to sleep by itself. The screen goes off, but it never goes into full sleep by itself. Airport is turned off, I put my cable modem in standby, never sleeps. I read somewhere in another forum that this was a bug with 10.5.6. Is that your experience?

Apple mail out of office rule is sending auto replies to all emails not just newly received emails--HELP! I set up the rule according to another apple support thread and instead of only sending the reply to new mail received, it was sent to all messages I believe that were in my INBOX, I only had a few but several people that hadn't sent me emails since I set up the rule, received the OUT OF OFFICE reply. Here is the procedure I followed for the out of office rule-[URL]I just used my email account which is a business account- not an ECU account but these rules according to the apple thread apply for all emails.

Is there a way to set email preference that words are automatically capitalized if appropriate (first word in a sentence; i to I etc.)? and can words be automatically corrected for misspellings? This works fine on the Iphone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard.
The problem is that Mail version 5.2 (1257) doesn't show html content or attachments. Even Apple's own templates from the application itself doesn't show correctly.
I've made sure that the "show remote html content in the Preferences is checked.
I've also tried to rebuild the mailboxes without any changes. Html-content and pictures stil doesn't show. Is there a command for the Terminal that can fix this? MBP 15" 2.2 GHz (10.7.2) 4GB RAM

I've had this email account with AT&T for a few years and it has worked with Mac Mail with no difficulty for a few years. Recently the account has been able to receive messages. Every time I hit Get Mail it asks for a password. I have installed all the latest updates through Software Update. I have a Mac Mini with OS Lion. After struggling for awhile, my inbox eventually comes in. I have reset all the incoming and outgoing POP Server accounts, as well as used the Web-mail version through [URL] and it all works fine.

Mail 5.2 (OS 10.7.4) no longer displays embedded images. This happened after I installed an AirportExtreme wireless router. I can send images as attachments, but received mail with images displays blue box with ?. Using "download image" has no effect. Mail/preferences/ has " Display remote images in HTML messages" checked. The answers to similar questions don't seem to apply, or I just don't understand them.

I just bought a new macbook pro a little over a month ago and have since upgraded to Snow Leopard (fresh install). One day about a week ago, out of no where, the mail application seemed to launch itself whenever I opened my laptop (resume from hibernate?). It is asking me for my name and email address to start setting it up. From there, I press cancel and the window disappears but the icon stays on the dock like its open and when I go to the Force Quit window it shows Mail as not responding and I have to force quit it. This doesnt happen every time but happens pretty often for seemingly no reason.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Apple Mail on my Mid 2010 iMac (27", 3.6 GHz i5, 12 Gig RAM, 10.8.5) and have recently run into a bit of strangeness. I shut down the iMac every evening, without shutting down Mail. Mail opens on startup, as expected. However, my list of emails is not current, with the latest email from about 1AM that morning. I know this is the case because I see many more recent emails on my iPhone. When I quit Mail and restart it, all the emails show up. How I can get Mail back to its old behavior, namely showing me all emails in my inbox on startup?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am generally unimpressed with iLife 09 and I would like a refund, but I feel I also have to say a bit more. when connecting my Canon 820 IS, the photos get imported however when I select "Do not delete photos" iPhoto ignores this and deletes them from the camera. The database does not auto-compact even after removing imported photos - is of a monolithic size and is sucking the space from my time machine. As for the Places element - My preferences indicate this - we invented history and placenames - why on Earth would I want to see London, Arkansas as the first option - In fact I wager that millions-more people have seen London, England, UK than London, Arkansas. As for entering in the information for non-GPS chipped cameras - well that is simply a massive pain the in the hole. Your concept of event/location is hosed here. I want to mark on the map venues, in fact I can pinpoint on the map where something took place - but unless the god of Google maps has decided it exists, it seems everything taken within 20 miles of London, England, UK is in the same place. Canary Wharf was apparently in Hertfordshire. meh, I thought it's a beta and will oh hang on, no, it's a full product which cost me 85 quid.....
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that when I start to type a URL in the URL field in Safari 5, it behaves differently than before. For example, before, if I typed "app" in the URL field and hit enter, it would automatically fill in "[URL:..] and load the site. That's because Apple's site was the only site in my bookmark list that started with "app". Now when I type "app", it fills in [URL:..] instead, because that site's DESCRIPTIVE TEXT begins "Apple, Macintosh...". So now, it assumes the letters I type in the URL bar are to help me find a site based on the "descriptive" text, instead of the actual URL text. I really hate this new behavior. I looked for an option or preference to change, but found nothing. Any of you know how to revert this behavior, or if it is even possible to do so?

I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
How can I turn off autosave in Lion? This is very irritating when you editing a very large spreadsheet for example. Numbers tries to save and save and save for every pc of text or number. Takes very long time to work with it then.

If something is marked as Junk in Apple Mail, I have it auto move it to the Junk section of the client. But, If I go there and hit "Not Junk" it doesn't move back to the inbox, and changes so it isnt brown or "junk", but it still sits in the "Junk" section. Is there a way to have it auto move back to the inbox once I have hit "Not Junk"?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes the Mail application have to be running or in the background for the Auto setting to function in getting my email? If so I guess it can't do this function like the iPhone? I am new to the Mac, so sorry if I sound uniformed.
