I have late 2011 13"Macbook Pro with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2
After i update it to 10.7.4 it restarted and shutdown , i open it again only apple logo appeared for 1 min then it shutdown .

I'm trying to update my Macbook Pro to the new 10.7.4 I have downloaded the update twice (no interruptions during download) and when i click to restart the computer to install the update, the update dosent install. I keep getting an error message saying the download is corrupted, when the update tries to unpack to install.

I've downloaded the package macmini2011efiupdate.pkg and this corresponds with my 5.2 model identifier. I have already updated lion to 10.7.3 and I seem to think that maybe the boot rom update was intended for 10.7.2 and it won't let me install on 10.7.3 because it thinks it isn't compatible?The message I get when I try to install the Boot ROM update is this software is not supported by your system.

I am using a 15" MacBook Pro Santa Rosa (mid 2007), 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 6 GB memory, with a 240GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD (15 months old). Lion 10.7.3. Computer doesn't boot into Safe Mode AND also if it "goes to sleep by itself" (I don't touch it for a while, then it falls asleep) after some time when I try to wake it up I get the Spinning Ball of Death or a black screen and the only thing I can do is press the power button for some seconds to power off. It wakes up OK if I, either close the lid or Apple icon-> Sleep.
WHEN TRY TO BOOT INTO SAFE MODE: Immediately after the startup chime I press the Shift key, after 2-3 seconds get the login window, key in my password. Instead of logging in, it goes to a screen with the Apple icon, underneath it, the Apple spinning gear and underneath that a loading bar. After quite some time the loading bar disappears, the gear goes on spinning for a LONG time, then black screen, startup chime again and login window. Then, when I key in my password, it just logs in as usual, no safe mode.
I tried to write in Terminal “sudo nvram boot-args="-x"”, BIG mistake! It got my computer into a loop of those screens. I don’t exactly remember what eventually got me out of this loop (I think I booted from a clone, then started with the Lion CD and wrote back “sudo nvram boot-args=""” in Terminal. Also set up an additional administrator account but all was the same. Tried verify/repair disk, everything OK. Eventually I erased completely the HD (not Recovery HD) reinstalled Tiger, Snow Leopard and Lion again, downloaded all applications/software/programs I had, from scratch and only copied the data from a backup, being sure that after that all problems will be over, but... everything like it was, no "normal sleeping" and no SM booting.

I bought an oldish MacBook 13' Unibody (late 2008) and when I got it one of the first things I did was to install Mac OSX Lion.
Everything was working fine, until I applied an update that made the trackpad stop working (it only accepts clicks, no touch is recognized).
This is the "Trackpad Firmware Update" from the automatic updates.
When starting this firmware update it appears a window with a status message, cancel and Update buttons. After clicking the update button, it starts installing, appears to complete, status changes to "Finishing...", and Update button comes back active at some point.
After that I have tried (unsuccessfully):downloading and installing the update directly from Apple Support [URL] thing, but using the 'root' accountleaving the computer on overnight to see if actually "finished" the processReset PRAM PVRAM - [URL] - [URL] palm pressing over 30 seconds on the trackpad (read this on another thread...?)

Update 2012-002 on macbook pro. When rebooting,after 'successful' install, I now see a repeating cycle of Error = 19, unable to mount root. From my *nix perspective I fear the worst - that the boot sector (at a minimum) is hosed. I tried (running Lion 10.7.x) booting with the command key down - no joy. do not currently have my install disk (sadly, it's in storage, somewhere). I'm concerned about this. this is VERY unusual for an update. This is a relatively new drive (750GB drive installed about 8 months ago). At no point have I seen errors, and believe me, I look. Assuming the worst case is repartitioning? (ah for hte days of 'fdisk /mbr')

I'm wondering if I need to wait until os x Lion is installed before I install this update? Perhaps it will automatically via "software update" after Lion is installed. It looks like the fix is pertains to osx Lion functionality, so maybe it would've already been downloaded via software update if Lion was installed as opposed to snow leopard which is what I have currently.The article says " If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed." Which update installer are they referring to and where can I get it? I thought it'd be better to update the firmware prior to installing the os, but maybe that's just an old habit I picked upnwhile using windows.

downloaded the newsest updates from Apple and now my computer won't start up. Goes to long in screen and won't let you type in pass word. Spinning Beach Ball of Death comes up and never stops.
I just keep shutting it down ( push off button on the back until it shuts off) and trying to start it again. Some times it will let you get a little farther, but always after 2-3 minutes it goes to SBBOD.
Lates thing I did was push option+command+S when I turned it back on and now screen is black and has a bunch of code. Been at this stage for 30 minutes now. It is not pluged into the internet at the moment.

View 3 Replies View RelatedClicked restart and was presented with a screen that said "none of the software updates could be installed, an unexpected error occurred" I clicked OK, was left with blank screen that did nothing. So I powered down, and restarted, now I'm presented with a Unix screen indicating "unable to find driver for this platform" and a window instructing me to restart.
Restarting in any mode, shift, command, command s, etc will not move me past the Mac OS version not yet set screen. This is a mess. I installed Lion over the Internet and do not have a startup disk I can use to recover and reinstall to even restore from my Time Capsule ... Isn't there a way I can install over the Internet?
Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?

Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
Installed an update for WePrint Server APP which popped up onscreen. Downloaded update, installer program loaded, selected drive, and install was successful. Closed the install program window (Safari open in background along with other programs running in dock, but not on screen), but the Installer menu bar remained on the top of the screen. Lost the OSX Lion Status / menu bar, the Apple icon, time, user, etc. Was able to use Safari, but not without hesitation.
The Safari menu bar at the top of the screen never appeared while in Safari, the Install Program menu did not disappear, even thought there was no evidence that the program was still running. No icon in dock, no hidden screen page or window.Closed all the running programs in the docks, and checked Force Quit, (ctrl+alt+esc) and no installer program remained.Unable to shut off or restart the computer without using the on / off button on the back of the intel mac monitor.Once rebooted all seems well.

Downloaded Lion and installed, set this second HDD as the new boot drive and waited - one monitor came up but then nothing happened for so long I went away. This has happened three times now and while I'm not watching my MacPro Xenon 8 core reboots from the Snow Leopard drive..
