I ahve a critical update to install for Microsoft Office. Unfortuantely SyncServices Agent and Microsoft Database Daemon will NOT shut down.

I just made an upgrade forr my MS Office 2011 for Mac; everything went well until I started The Outlook part. I got a message that read something like: there's an old version of Microsoft Database Daemon running; delete the daemon from the start elements and restart the computer. Now my question: how do I delete this daemon?

I keep getting an error message "Database Daemon Fatal Error" when trying to open Entourage 2008. I tried removing and re-installing Office, but each time I open Entourage I keep getting the same message: the Database Daemon has encountered an unknown error. The daemon will need to quit, and Entourage may need to be force quit.

I have just configured Entourage and when I went to check mail, it gave any error and suggested that I fix the database. The MS site says you click the Entourage Icon while holding down the option key and it should give you the option to fix the database. When I do so it comes up and asks for a "Fix Clock Key". I'm using the new version of Office for Mac 2008 Home/Student edition.

For a while Entourage would freeze while opening, but then eventually open after a restart. Now it won't open at all, it comes up with a message that say "Entourage cannot access your data. To attempt to fix the problem, rebuild your database." So I click ok and it opens the Database Utility.
But here's the weird part: After a few seconds the Database Utility opens and comes up with a message saying I need to quit all Microsoft programs before it can run. So I do that. I even quit ALL programs except the utility. But it still comes up with another message telling me to quit all Microsoft programs. So in other words, the database utility won't run. What do I do now?

I have an old G5 XServe running 10.5.8 that is set up as an OpenDirectory master. I need to move the OpenDirectory information (Users and Groups) to a new machine running Lion Server. How can I do this? I tried using the "Archive" function in server admin on the 10.5 machine to create an archive, and then restoring on the 10.7 machine, but while I didn't get any errors, none of my users moved across either. I could, of course, do an export/import from Workgroup Manager, but as that wouldn't transfer the passwords, it's of limited use. How can I move the database across servers?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe plist file is well launched as a Daemon as machine start up. It starts a shell script which is suppose to change one route in the Mac routing table.
The syslog trace mention that the shell script is well started, but when I check the route, it kept the default route.Â
I suppose the problem is due to the fact that the network interface is not up when the script is started at the first timeÂ
If I modify the plist file and get ride of the LaunchOnlyOne key the new route is affected, but the script keep running for ever every minutes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a month back my computer started to take longer to turn off. it was about the time when I did a disk repair. So about a week ago I started to look to seee if there was a reason for it to be taking longer to turn off. When I open the console application, it shows that something that has to do ith google ( think) tries to do something. I'm going to post a picture here. I have search for daemon and google and deleted anything that i found, but it still showed the message so I put eberything back. Like all of the messages in the picture are from the computer just doing nothing, except a few for screen shots. Most of the messges are exatly the same. It is three messages that repeat every like ten seconds. The computer works fine and everything but i just found it wierd today cuz i left it on for 3 hours ad when I came back it was not sleeping and when I checked the console aplication it showed so many messages for every ten seconds and my computer is supposed to go to sleep after 15 minutes. Oh, I have a 2006 Macbook pro that has a Intel core Duo and runs with snow Leopard.

Does anyone know how to remove 360 Controller Driver Daemon from the Startup Items on an iMac? I downloaded this so I could use an Xbox 360 wireless controller for Onlive but since downloading this I get a conflicting driver error when I load up Onlive. I thought I'd deleted this from my mac but I can still see this sitting in System Information/ Software/ Startup Items but I can't remove from here. It does not display in my System Preferences to allow me to remove from the Startup Items?

im trying to set up MPD for mac, and cant seem to find tutorials anywhere on how to install it, i tried compiling it from source, and i get this:
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
Since downloading 10.5.1, I have had the message below pop up about every half hour. Almost every time, I click "Report...." to send to failure to Apple. I have also tried clicking "Relaunch," but that done nothing to fix the problem. Half an hour later, the popup comes back again. It has happened now more times than I can count. I have tried to research what this application is, but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this or to at least get rid of the pop up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI decided to post because I've been paranoid lately by possibilities that I may be hacked by someone or may have a virus on my Mac. I purchased my Mac in June of this year. I was messing around on "Finder" today and was looking at documents and stuff when I noticed some documents in the finder that were not familiar to me. I kept looking and I actually found A LOT of documents with numbers and things that were not familiar to me. Once I saw this, I went to the activity monitor.
I saw my username of course along with process names that looked familiar to me. I kept scrolling down and then I saw the username "daemon" and the process name was "distnoted". What is this? Am I just paranoid about this or is something going on? My computer speeds are fine and the computer itself is acting completely normal. I DO use uTorrent and Frostwire, though I don't download just anything.
How do I get my documents from Microsoft word? I have them backed up.

turning on the Seagate HDD that I have, I have been using it in Windows with Mac Drive where it is usually picked up (although says it is bad but OS X didn't so IDK if it was or Mac Drive is pissing around) but it works now today the drive won't turn on, no light no nothing Is there a way to find out if it is actually dead as if I have lost my work (all my college work, iTunes, pictures etc etc) I will go ****ing mental as I'd have lost $500 and ?100 odd iTunes (most was backed up on a previous drive which also died (WD though)') and un-replacable documents/pictures.
